Inspect Water Separator and Associated Filter Element, and Clean as Necessary


WARNING: DO NOT DO WORK ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM AND THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM AT THE SAME TIME. THIS WILL PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM. SUCH CONTAMINATION CAN BE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH.
WARNING: ALWAYS USE RUBBER GLOVES WHEN YOU DO WORK:
  • ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM, OR
  • ON PARTS THAT HAVE CONTAMINATION FROM THE WASTE SYSTEM.
WHEN YOU COMPLETE THE WORK PROCEDURE, CLEAN YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER. THIS WILL PREVENT INFECTION (TOILET WASTE IS DANGEROUS FOR HEALTH).
WARNING: WHEN YOU REMOVE A COMPONENT OF THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM, ALWAYS DISINFECT THE PART BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN A PLASTIC BAG, THEN SEAL THE BAG. DO NOT PUT DOCUMENTS INTO THE PLASTIC BAG. SEAL THE BAG FIRST,THEN ATTACH THE DOCUMENTS TO IT. THIS WILL PREVENT INFECTION OR ILLNESS. CONTAMINATION FROM THE WASTE CAN BE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH.

   (1) Drain the toilet system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-680-001).
   (2) Put 2 l (0.5283 USgal) of Deodorant-Aircraft Toilets - - (Material No.11GCA1) or Aqueous Cleaner-Toilet System Curative De-scaling & Re-circulating - (Material No.08AHC1) or Cleaner-Toilet System Specific - (Material No.08CEB8) in each toilet bowl and flush them through.
NOTE: This procedure is to make sure that the full toilet system is disinfected.

   (1) Open the AFT cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Remove access panel 162DW.

E. Removal of Water Separator 3302MM
   (1) Remove the water separator from the waste holding tank (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-67-000-001).
   (2) Use Disinfectant and cleaner-Aircraft general - - (Material No.11CBA1) to clean the water separator.
   (3) Remove the filter element (6) as follows:
     (a) Remove the screws (1) and the washers (2).
     (b) Remove the ring (3) and the cover (4).
     (c) Remove the packing (5) and discard it.
     (d) Remove the filter element (6).
4. Procedure
WARNING: WHEN YOU USE COMPRESSED AIR TO DRY PARTS:
  • PUT ON THE CORRECT PROTECTION (FACE SHIELD OR GOGGLES).
  • DO NOT POINT THE AIR STREAM AT YOURSELF OR OTHER PERSONS.
  • DO NOT LET THE PRESSURE BE MORE THAN 25 PSIG (172 KPAG).
LOOSE PARTICLES AND/OR HIGH PRESSURE AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE A BRISTLE BRUSH ON THE O-RING AREA AND ON THE GROOVES. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE O-RING AREA AND THE GROOVES.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE:
  • HYDROCARBON SOLVENTS, CHEMICAL SOLVENTS OF THE ETHER OR FLUORIDE FAMILY, ACETONE, METHYL-ETHYL-KETONE OR RELATED SOLVENTS ON RUBBER OR PLASTIC PARTS
  • ABRASIVE OR SCOURING CLEANSERS ON METAL OR PLASTIC PARTS. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.

A. Servicing of the Water Separator 3302MM
   (1) Clean and do an inspection of the filter housing assembly (7):
     (a) Use Disinfectant and cleaner-Aircraft general - - (Material No.11CBA1) to clean the filter element (6) and the filter housing (7).
     (b) Use a BRUSH - BRISTLED, STIFF to clean the filter element (6) and the filter housing (7) with a solution of soap and hot water.
     (c) Dry all the parts with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) or with a AIR SOURCE FILTERED, DRY.
     (d) Do an inspection of the filter element (6) and the filter housing (7) to make sure that it is in the correct condition.
     (e) If necessary, replace the AIPC 38-31-67-01-090 FILTER (6).
   (2) Clean and do an inspection of the basic separator (8):
     (a) Use Disinfectant and cleaner-Aircraft general - - (Material No.
11CBA1) to clean the basic separator (8).
     (b) Use the BRUSH - BRISTLED, STIFF to clean the basic separator (8) with a solution of soap and hot water.
     (c) Dry all the parts with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) or with the AIR SOURCE FILTERED, DRY.
     (d) Do an inspection of the basic separator (8) to make sure that it is in the correct condition.
     (e) If necessary, replace the AIPC 38-31-67-01-010 SEPARATR (8).
