Inspection of the Pressure Indicating Tubes
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

B. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(2) On the AIR COND panel 30VU:

(2) On the AIR COND panel 30VU:
- make sure that the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton switch is released (OFF legend is on),
- make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend is off),
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
- make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR 1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
C. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the engine.

D. Deactivate the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 36-21-49-010-061-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). E. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

F. Clean the Pressure Indicating Tubes
(1) Make a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) moist withV01-076 Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Technical grade . Use the cloth to clean the pressure indicating tubes.
(2) Dry the pressure indicating tubes and hoses with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
4. Procedure(1) Make a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) moist with

A. Fluorescent penetrant examine the tubes for cracks (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-05-230-010)
(1) If the tube has cracks, reject it.

B. Examination of the Tubes
(1) Examine the tubes at location R.
(a) Examine the tubes for nicks.
1 Nicks up to 0.003 in. (0.07 mm) deep (Ref. AMM TASK 70-42-11-300-010).
2 Nicks more than 0.003 in. (0.07 mm) deep, reject.
(b) Examine the tubes for scratches.
1 Scratches up to 0.003 in. (0.07 mm) deep (Ref. AMM TASK 70-42-11-300-010).
2 Scratches more than 0.003 in. (0.07 mm) deep, reject.
(c) Examine the tubes for dents.
1 Dents up to 0.050 in. (1.27 mm) deep with the radius not less than 0.056 in. (1.42 mm) are permitted.
2 Two or more dents as described in 1_ with more than 1.00 in. (25.4 mm) between the edges are permitted.
3 Dents larger than specified in 1_ or 2_, reject.
(d) Examine the tubes for rubs.
1 Rubs up to 0.003 in. (0.07 mm) deep (Ref. AMM TASK 70-42-11-300-010).
2 Rubs more than 0.003 in. (0.07 mm) deep, reject.
(2) Examine the tubes at location S.
(a) Examine the tubes for nicks.
1 Nicks up to 0.003 in. (0.07 mm) deep (Ref. AMM TASK 70-42-11-300-010).
2 Nicks more than 0.003 in. (0.07 mm) deep, reject.
(b) Examine the tubes for scratches.
1 Scratches up to 0.003 in. (0.07 mm) deep (Ref. AMM TASK 70-42-11-300-010).
2 Scratches more than 0.003 in. (0.07 mm) deep, reject.
(c) Examine the tubes for distortion.
1 If any distortion is found, reject.
(d) Examine the tubes for dents.
1 Dents up to 0.050 in. (1.27 mm) deep with the radius not less than 0.056 in. (1.42 mm) are permitted.
2 Two or more dents as described in 1_ with more than 1.00 in. (25.4 mm) between the edges are permitted.
3 Dents larger than specified in 1_ or 2_, reject.
(e) Examine the tubes for rubs.
1 Rubs up to 0.003 in. (0.07 mm) deep (Ref. AMM TASK 70-42-11-300-010).
2 Rubs more than 0.003 in. (0.07 mm) deep, reject.
(3) Examine the pressure indication tube end connectors at location N, P and T.
(a) Examine the tube end connectors for nicks.
1 Nicks more than 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) deep (Ref. AMM TASK 70-42-11-300-010).
(b) Examine the tube end connectors for burrs.
1 If there are any burrs (Ref. AMM TASK 70-42-11-300-010).
(c) Examine the tube end fittings for other damage.
1 Damage up to three turns of the thread (Ref. AMM TASK 70-42-11-300-010).
2 Damage to more than three turns of the thread, reject.
(4) Examine the tube sealing-face at locations V, W and X.
(a) Examine the tube sealing-face for scratches.
1 Circumferential scratches up to 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) deep (Ref. AMM TASK 70-42-11-300-010).
2 Circumferential scratches more than 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) deep, reject.
5. Close-up(1) Examine the tubes at location R.
(a) Examine the tubes for nicks.
