Leakage Test of the LP Oxygen System for the Crew with the Oxygen-Cylinder Source

TASK 35-10-00-790-001-A-01
Leakage Test of the LP Oxygen System for the Crew with the Oxygen-Cylinder Source

WARNING: KEEP ALL HYDROCARBONS (FUELS, LUBRICANTS, ETC.) AWAY FROM ALL SOURCE OF OXYGEN. OXYGEN BECOMES EXPLOSIVE WHEN IT TOUCHES HYDROCARBONS.
WARNING: CLEAN THE TOOLS AND MAKE SURE YOUR HANDS ARE CLEAN TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE OXYGEN SYSTEM.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: PUT DRY AND CLEAN METAL OR PLASTIC PLUGS ON ALL PIPES OR UNITS THAT YOU REMOVE TEMPORARILY. THEN PUT EACH PIPE OR UNIT IN A SEALED VINYL BAG. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, CONTAMINATION OF THE OXYGEN SYSTEM CAN OCCUR.

A. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at access door 812.
   (2) Open access door 812.
   (3) In the avionics compartment, open the cover of the oxygen compartment.
   (4) Fully close the valve of the oxygen storage cylinder (5750HM).
   (5) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to open the valve of the oxygen storage cylinder.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the special precautions when you do work on a gaseous oxygen system (Ref. AMM TASK 35-00-00-860-001).
   (2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) Do the EIS start procedure (EWD DU, SD DU only) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (4) Make sure that the avionics compartment and the cockpit have a good airflow.
   (5) Make sure that the oxygen-cylinder source is bled correctly, 1850 psi (127.55 bar) at 21 deg.C (69.80 deg.F).
   (6) Bleed the oxygen system:
     (a) In the cockpit, on the OXYGEN section of the overhead control and indicating panel 21VU, push the CREW SUPPLY pushbutton switch (the OFF legend goes off).
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to release the CREW SUPPLY pushbutton switch.
     (c) On the oxygen-mask stowage box, push and hold the PRESS TO TEST AND RESET control lever.
At the same time, push and hold the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob on the mask regulator.
       1 Keep them pushed for a minimum of three seconds.
NOTE: During this time, the flow rate indicator changes from yellow to black and the volume of the sound of the oxygen flow decreases.
     (d) When the flow rate indicator is black and when you no longer hear the sound of the oxygen flow:
  • Release the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob.
  • Release the PRESS TO TEST AND RESET control lever.
     (e) Make sure that the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob is not in the EMERGENCY position. If it is in the EMERGENCY position, there can be a leak of oxygen.
Subtask 35-10-00-480-051-A
D. Preparation for the Test
NOTE: You can use two test sets to do this test:
  • The GAGE 10 BAR (145 PSI) - PRESSURE and the 110111-03 COUPLING-OXYGEN QUICK DISCONNECT802857-01 COUPLING or equivalent, or
  • The 98D35208729001 TOOL-DPRESS, TEST-O2.
   (1) Remove the blanking cap from the oxygen-system test-port 5755HM.
   (2) Test set 1:
     (a) Connect the GAGE 10 BAR (145 PSI) - PRESSURE to the 110111-03 COUPLING-OXYGEN QUICK DISCONNECT802857-01 COUPLING or equivalent.
     (b) Install the 110111-03 COUPLING-OXYGEN QUICK DISCONNECT802857-01 COUPLING or equivalent on the oxygen-system test-port 5755HM.
   (3) Test set 2:
     (a) Install the 98D35208729001 TOOL-DPRESS, TEST-O2 on the oxygen-system test-port 5755HM and make sure that its shutoff valve is closed.
   (4) Fully open the valve of the oxygen storage cylinder 5750HM.
   (5) Make sure that the pressure on the pressure gage is between 78 psi (5.38 bar) and 94 psi (6.48 bar).
4. Procedure
Subtask 35-10-00-860-054-A
A. Test of the LP Oxygen
   (1) In the cockpit, on the OXYGEN section of the overhead control and indicating panel 21VU, make sure that the CREW SUPPLY pushbutton switch is pushed (OFF legend off).
   (2) Let the pressure become stable.
   (3) Close the valve of oxygen storage cylinder 5750HM.
   (4) Measure on the pressure gage the initial pressure "PO" in the LP system (between 70 psi (4.83 bar) and 94 psi (6.48 bar)).
   (5) Measure the Outside Air Temperature (OAT) and the cockpit temperature on the ECAM SD "page COND".
   (6) Calculate the initial temperature
----------------------------------
! To = OAT+COCKPIT TEMP !
! ---------------- !
! 2 !
----------------------------------

   (7) Let the pressure become stable during 1 hour then measure on the pressure gage the final pressure "P".
   (8) Measure the OAT and the cockpit temperature on the ECAM SD "page COND".
   (9) Calculate the final temperature
----------------------------------
! T = OAT+COCKPIT TEMP !
! ---------------- !
! 2 !
----------------------------------

NOTE: The two values initial pressure/final pressure must be equal with a tolerance of 2 psi (0.1379 bar).
NOTE: If the temperature has changed, do the pressure correction as follows:
-----------------------
! (T+273) !
! P = Po -------- !
! (To+273) !
-----------------------

Po=initial pressure
P=final pressure
To=initial temperature in deg.C
T=final temperature in deg.C
