A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) On panel 110VU:
  • Make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is in the fully counterclockwise position
  • Fold the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle into the center console
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (3) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the ground service connections to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow, Green, and Blue hydraulic systems.
   (5) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).

F. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
NOTE: If you do this task with the ground power set to 'ON' on the overhead panel, the systems that follow will receive an 'on ground' signal. This will occur with the false targets installed as the LGCIU's receive a signal from the ground power:
  • Captain PHC1
  • First Officer PHC2
  • Stand-by PHC3
  • CIDS
  • EIU1 and EIU2
  • CFDS
  • WHC1 and WHC2
  • RPCU (if installed)
  • DLRB (if installed)
  • SIU (if installed).

A. Simulation of Flight with False Targets (With Aircraft on Ground)
   (1) Do this test:
ACTION
RESULT
1.Open circuit breakers 1GA, 2GA, 52GA, 58GA and 59GA.
  • The LGCIUs are de-energized.
2.Install a 98F32304000000 TARGET-FALSE on each proximity sensors 20GA, 21GA, 22GA, 23GA, 24GA and 25GA.
  • Flight mode is simulated.
3.Close circuit breakers 1GA, 2GA, 52GA, 58GA and 59GA.
  • The LGCIUs are energized
  • After two minutes, the EFCS shows faults that can occur.
4.Open circuit breakers 1GA, 2GA, 52GA, 58GA and 59GA.
  • The LGCIUs are de-energized.
5.Remove the 98F32304000000 TARGET-FALSE from each proximity sensors 20GA, 21GA, 22GA, 23GA, 24GA and 25GA.
  • The aircraft goes back to the ground mode.
6.Close circuit breakers 1GA, 2GA, 52GA, 58GA and 59GA.

NOTE: When the LGCIU circuit breakers are opened, the fuel used indication shown on the ENG page and the FUEL USED page will change to 'degraded' mode. The fuel used indication will show as dashes. It is necessary to start the engines to show the correct display of the fuel used indication.
