LUBRICATION - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-21-45-941-051-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) In the cockpit, on panel 400VU, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control-lever.
   (2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position on the steering handwheels (CAPT and F/O) and on the brake pedals to tell persons not to operate them.
   (3) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (4) On panel 110VU, make sure that the PARK BRK control switch is in the OFF position.
   (5) Make sure that the aircraft is on jacks at the forward jacking point (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-21-45-110-050-A
A. Prepare the Replacement Component
   (1) Before the installation, clean all the parts with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed components are in the correct condition.
   (3) Replace all the defective parts.
Subtask 32-21-45-420-050-F
B. Installation of the Flight/Ground Sensing Mechanism
NOTE: This procedure is applicable for the NLG leg-assembly installed with only one lubrication fitting on the flight/ground sensing mechanism.
   (1) Install the target support assembly.
     (a) Clean the nose gear leg and the removed components with Non Aqueous Cleaner_- Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone - (Material No.08BBF1) and dry them with AIR SOURCE FILTERED, DRY.
     (b) Put the rod (7) in position on the lever (15).
     (c) Install the screw (26), the bush (16), the washer (17) and the new AIPC 32-21-11-52-070 NUT (19).
     (d) TORQUE the nut (19) to between 8.4 and 7.6 m.N (74.34 and 67.26 lbf.in )
T.
     (e) Loosen the nut (19) with a minimum of three turns.
     (f) TORQUE the nut (19) to between 7.5 and 6 m.N (66.37 and 53.10 lbf.in )
T to safety the nut (19) with the new AIPC 32-21-11-52-080 COTTER PIN (18) or the AIPC 32-21-11-12-080 COTTER PIN (18) or AIPC 32-21-11-92-080 COTTER PIN (18) or AIPC 32-21-11-12-080 COTTER PIN (18).
       1 Do not loosen the nut (19) to install the cotter pin.
     (g) Put the rod (7) and the lever (15) in position on the casing (6).
     (h) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.
03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the screw (20).
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
     (i) Install the screw (20) and the two washers (27).
     (j) Install the washer (23) and the new AIPC 32-21-11-52-130 NUT (24).
     (k) Tighten the nut (24).
     (l) Safety the nut (24) with the new
AIPC 32-21-11-52-140 COTTER PIN (25) or AIPC 32-21-11-12-140 COTTER PIN (25) or AIPC 32-21-11-92-140 COTTER PIN (25) or AIPC 32-21-11-12-140 COTTER PIN (25).
   (2) Install the casing assembly.
     (a) Put the casing (6) in position on the leg (8).
     (b) Engage the casing (6) on the pin (14).
     (c) Hold the casing (6) and install the screw (1), the washer (2) and the two bushes (3).
     (d) Install the nut (5) and the washer (4).
     (e) Tighten the nut (5).
     (f) Install the screw (21) and the new
AIPC 32-21-11-51-470 LOCKWASHER (22) or AIPC 32-21-11-11-080 LOCKWASHER (22) or AIPC 32-21-11-91-470 LOCKWASHER (22) or AIPC 32-21-11-11-080 LOCKWASHER (22) on the pin (14).

PRE VSB 580-32-3133
     (g) TORQUE the screw (21) to between 0.65 and 0.5 m.daN (57.52 and 44.25 lbf.in )
T and safety it with the lockwasher (22).

END OF PRE VSB 580-32-3133

POST VSB 580-32-3133

     (h) TORQUE the screw (21) to between 0.75 and 0.6 m.daN (66.37 and 53.10 lbf.in )
T and safety it with the lockwasher (22).

     (i) Put the rod (7) in position on the clevis (10).
     (j) Install the screw (9).
     (k) Install the new
AIPC 32-21-11-52-070 NUT (12) and the washer (11).
     (l) Tighten the nut (12).
     (m) Safety the nut 12 with the new
AIPC 32-21-11-52-080 COTTER PIN (13) or AIPC 32-21-11-12-080 COTTER PIN (13) or AIPC 32-21-11-92-080 COTTER PIN (13) or AIPC 32-21-11-12-080 COTTER PIN (13).

C. Installation of the Flight/Ground Sensing Mechanism
NOTE: This procedure is applicable for the NLG leg-assembly installed with two lubrication fittings on the flight/ground sensing mechanism.
   (1) Clean the nose landing gear and the removed components with Non Aqueous Cleaner_- Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone - (Material No.08BBF1) and dry them with AIR SOURCE FILTERED, DRY.
   (2) Install the target support assembly as follows:
     (a) Put the link assembly (14) in position on the lever (3).
     (b) Install the bolt (5), the washer (27) and the new AIPC 32-21-11-12-070 NUT (26).
     (c) Tighten the nut (26) as follows:
       1 TORQUE the nut (26) to between 9.35 and 7.65 m.N (82.74 and 67.70 lbf.in )
T.
       2 Loosen the nut (26).
       3 TORQUE the nut (26) to between 8.5 and 7 m.N (75.22 and 61.95 lbf.in )
T.
     (d) Safety the nut (26) with the new
AIPC 32-21-11-12-080 COTTER PIN (25).
       1 Do not loosen the nut (26) to install the cotter pin.
     (e) Put the link assembly (14) together with the lever (3) in position on the casing (6).
     (f) Install the washers (4), the pin (7), the lubrication fittings (9) and the washers (8).
     (g) Lubricate the lubrication fittings (9) with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.
03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) until the new grease comes out.
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
     (h) Install the washer (24), the bolt (23), the washer (2) and the nut (1).
     (i) TORQUE the bolt (23) to between 7.5 and 6.0 m.N (66.37 and 53.10 lbf.in ) T.
   (3) Install the casing assembly as follows:
     (a) Put the casing (6) in position on the NLG.
     (b) Engage the casing (6) on the pin (20).
     (c) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.
06LDG6) on the shaft of the bolt (10).
       1 Do not apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) on the threads of the bolt (10).
     (d) Hold the casing (6) and install the lock washer (11), the bolt (10), the washer (22) and the nut (21).
     (e) TORQUE the nut (21) to between 7.5 and 6.0 m.N (66.37 and 53.10 lbf.in ) T.
     (f) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.
06LDG6) to the shaft of the bolt (12).
       1 Do not apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) on the threads of the bolt (12).
     (g) Install the bolt (12) on the pin (20) with the new AIPC 32-21-11-11-080 LOCK WASHER (13).
     (h) TORQUE the bolt (12) to between 7.5 and 6.0 m.N (66.37 and 53.10 lbf.in )
T.
     (i) Put the link assembly (14) in position on the clevis (15).
     (j) Install the bolt (16).
     (k) Install the new
AIPC 32-21-11-12-070 NUT (18) and the washer (19).
     (l) Tighten the nut (18).
     (m) Safety the nut (18) with the new
AIPC 32-21-11-12-080 COTTER PIN (17).

D. Prepare for the Test
   (1) In the cockpit, on the right center instrument-panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear normal control-lever (6GA) is in the DOWN position.
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.

F. Test of the Landing-Gear Proximity Sensors
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(
Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Test of the landing-gear proximity sensors with the NLG extended
     (a) Do a check of the Landing Gear Control and Interface Units (LGCIUs) 1 and 2 label 021 as follows:
       1 Get access to the parameter call-up menus (Ref. AMM TASK 31-36-00-740-008).

1.With the MCDU keyboard, on the AIDS PAR LAB CALL-UP page, enter the parameter labels with the alphanumeric keys:
NOTE: The format is EQ/SYS/LAB/SDI.
  • You can enter the equipment number (EQ) with two digits (6D) or three digits (06D). The format changes with the FDIMU or Data Management Unit (DMU) configuration.
NOTE: You can enter the two parameter labels, left for LGCIU1 and right for LGCIU2, on the same page.

  • For the LGCIU1, enter:
    06D/1/021/01, or
    6D/1/021/01.
If the 24GA senses the weight-off-wheels condition, bit 12 in the DATABITS column shows 0.
  • For the LGCIU2, enter:
    06D/2/021/10, or
    6D/2/021/10.
If 25GA senses the weight-off-wheels condition, bit 12 in the DATABITS column shows 0.
   (3) Test of the landing-gear proximity sensors with the NLG compressed
     (a) Lower the aircraft at the forward jacking point (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-586-001).
     (b) Do a check of the LGCIUs 1 and 2 label 021 as follows:
       1 Get access to the parameter call-up menus (Ref. AMM TASK 31-36-00-740-008).

5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Remove the safety barriers.
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
