3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-21-00-941-081-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the D23080000 PIN-GROUND LOCK,NLG or MZ23080000 PIN-LOCKING, as an alternative, is in position.
   (2) In the cockpit, on the panel 400VU, put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing-gear normal control-lever.
   (3) On the steering handwheels (CAPT and F/O) and on the brake pedals put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate them.
   (4) Put SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the right center instrument panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear normal control-lever is in the DOWN position.
   (2) On the parking brake panel 110VU:
  • Make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is folded into the center console.
   (3) Make sure that CHOCK - WHEEL(S) are in position on the main landing gear.
   (4) Lift the aircraft at the forward jacking point (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).

C. Get Access
   (1) Open NLG main doors 713 and 714 (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position.
   (3) Remove the NLG leg assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-21-11-000-003).
   (4) Remove the NLG actuating cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-22-000-001).

D. Preparation of the Inspection Area
   (1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the:
  • Actuating-cylinder airframe attachment-fittings
  • Fore-stay airframe attachment-fittings
  • Trunnion airframe attachment-fittings.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-21-00-220-065-A
A. Detailed Inspection of the Bushings and the Swivel Bearings in the NLG Airframe Attachment-Fittings
   (1) Do a detailed inspection of the bushings and the swivel bearings in the:
  • Actuating-cylinder airframe attachment-fittings
  • Fore-stay airframe attachment-fittings
  • Trunnion airframe attachment-fittings.
     (a) Do the inspection for:
  • Cracks
  • Corrosion
  • Sealant damage
  • The bushings and the swivel bearings attached correctly
  • Evident wear
  • Other damage to the bushings and the swivel bearings.
5. Close-up
Subtask 32-21-00-410-072-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Install the NLG actuating cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-22-400-001).
   (2) Install the NLG leg assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-21-11-400-003).
   (3) Close NLG main doors 713 and 714 (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
Subtask 32-21-00-860-088-A
B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Lower the aircraft on its wheels (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-586-001).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the safety barriers.
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
