A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the flight safety precautions were obeyed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position adjacent to the applicable Main Landing Gear (MLG).

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-11-19-420-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Connection of the MLG Lock Springs
   (1) Preparation for connection of the MLG lock spring:
     (a) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
     (b) Lubricate with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-Landing Gear Wheel Bearing Lithium Thickened - (Material No.03GCB1) :
  • The pins (2) and (9)
  • The spacer (3)
  • The bores of the side-stay attachment lugs
  • The eye-ends of the lock springs (6) and (8).
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
     (c) Install the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY, (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-481-001).
   (2) Connection of the lock springs (6) and (8):
     (a) Use the location pin (5) to make sure that:
  • The eye-ends of the lock springs (6) and (8) are aligned with each other.
     (b) Remove the location pin (5).
     (c) Adjust the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY by use of the driving nut (7), to align:
  • The eye-ends of the lock springs (6) and (8) with the bores of the side-stay attachment lugs.
     (d) Put the spacer (3) in position between the eye-ends of the lock spring (8) and the lock spring (6). Install the washers (10) and (4) and the pin (9).
     (e) Attach the bullet (1), (part of the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY), to the pin (2) and install the pin
     (f) Make sure the head of the pin (2) points AFT and install the pin (2). The pin (2) will push out the pin (9).
     (g) Remove the bullet (1) from the pin (2).
     (h) Install the washer (11) and the new AIPC 32-11-18-02-100 NUT (12).
     (i) TORQUE the nut (12) to between 0.51 and 0.34 m.daN (45.13 and 30.09 lbf.in )
T and install the new AIPC 32-11-18-02-090 COTTER PIN (13).
     (j) Remove the
460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY, (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-081-001).
   (3) Application of sealants:
     (a) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to:
  • The ends of the pin (2)
  • The nut (12) and the washer (11).
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
Subtask 32-11-19-420-053-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Connection of the MLG Lock Springs
   (1) Preparation for connection of the MLG lock spring:
     (a) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
     (b) Lubricate the items that follow with Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) :
  • The pin (2)
  • The spacer (3)
  • The bushes of the side-stay attachment lugs.
     (c) Install the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-481-001).
   (2) Connection of the lock springs (6) and (8):
     (a) Use the location pin (5) to make sure that:
  • The eye-ends of the lock springs (6) and (8) are aligned with each other.
     (b) Remove the location pin (5).
     (c) Turn the driving nut (7) to adjust the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY and align:
  • The eye-ends of the lock springs (6) and (8) with the bores of the side-stay attachment lugs.
     (d) Put the spacer (3) in position between the eye-ends of the lock spring (8) and the lock spring (6).
     (e) Install the washers (10) and (4) and the pin (9).
     (f) Attach the bullet (1) (part of the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY), to the pin (2).
     (g) Make sure the head of the pin (2) points AFT and install the pin (2). The pin (2) will push out the pin (9).
     (h) Remove the bullet (1) from the pin (2).
     (i) Install the washer (11) and the new AIPC 32-11-18-02-100 NUT (12) or AIPC 32-11-85-98-100 NUT (12).
     (j) TORQUE the nut (12) to between 0.51 and 0.34 m.daN (45.13 and 30.09 lbf.in )
T and install the new AIPC 32-11-18-02-090 COTTER PIN (13) or AIPC 32-11-85-98-090 COTTER PIN (13).
     (k) Remove the
460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY, (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-081-001).
   (3) Application of sealants:
     (a) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06ACA1) to:
  • The ends of the pin (2)
  • The nut (12)
  • The washer (11).
     (b) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to:
  • The ends of the pin (2)
  • The nut (12)
  • The washer (11).
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
