Installation of the RAT Harness

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-22-51-860-118-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
   (2) Make sure that the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (3) Make sure that the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel,
  • on the ground service panel of the Blue hydraulic system.
   (5) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.
   (6) Make sure that access panel 195BB is open.
   (7) Make sure that the RAT is extended (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-005).

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-22-51-420-071-A
A. Installation of the RAT Harness
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Connect the RAT harness (1) to the sensor (2) and the switch (3).
   (4) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (5) Connect the RAT harness (1) to electrical connector 2813GE (7).
   (6) Apply Primer Epoxy Paint-- Corrosion Inhibiting Structure (Material No.04DAB2) to the clamps (4) and (6) and to the threads of the screws (5).
   (7) Put the clamps (4) and (6) in position and install the screws (5).
   (8) TORQUE the screws (5) to between 0.24 and 0.23 m.daN (21.24 and 20.35 lbf.in ) T.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Pressurize the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
   (3) Pressurize the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-003).
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE RAT TRAVEL RANGE IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU EXTEND/RETRACT THE RAT.
   (4) Retract the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-006).
   (5) Close access panel 195BB.
   (6) Depressurize the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).

D. Test
   (1) Do the operational test of the manual deployment and the functional test of the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-720-003).
5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
