Visual Inspection of the RAT Blades (Aluminum Blades)
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE RAT TRAVEL RANGE IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU EXTEND/RETRACT THE RAT.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ACTUATOR AND THE ENGINE PUMP FIRE VALVE TOUCH ACROSS THEIR FULL SURFACES AND CORRECTLY CONNECT WITH :
- THE DRIVE SHAFT OF THE ACTUATOR ENGAGED IN THE COUPLING OF THE ENGINE PUMP FIRE VALVE
- THE DOWEL PIN IN THE ADAPTOR PLATE ENGAGED WITH THE HOLE IN THE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system:
(5) Depressurize the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(7) Put the warning notices in position to tell persons not to operate the RAT:
Subtask 29-22-00-865-123-A WARNING:
OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
(1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002). (2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system:
- In the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel,
- On the ground service panel of the Blue hydraulic system.
(5) Depressurize the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE RAT TRAVEL RANGE IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU EXTEND/RETRACT THE RAT.
(6) Extend the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-005). (7) Put the warning notices in position to tell persons not to operate the RAT:
- on the overhead panels 21VU and 40VU.

A. Visual Inspection of the RAT
(1) Examine the RAT and its related components for:
(3) Turn the turbine blades manually and make sure that they turn freely.
(4) Examine the aluminum RAT blades for damage:
(a) If you find cracks, replace the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-51-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-51-400-010).
(b) If you find corrosion or other types of damage, do the repair, given in the CMMCMM 292144 and/or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-300-001), or replace the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-51-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-51-400-010).
(5) Examine the threaded cover for damageCMM 292144 .
(6) If, after repair or damage removal, the defects are more than the limits given in the subsequent table, you must replace the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-51-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-51-400-010).
Subtask 29-22-00-910-062-B (1) Examine the RAT and its related components for:

- corrosion,
- other types of damage.

B. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the safety barriers.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

(2) Retract the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-006). (3) Remove the safety barriers.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
