A. As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system:
  • In the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel.
  • On the ground service panel of the Blue hydraulic system.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
   (2) Make sure that the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (3) Depressurize the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the access door 195BB.
   (2) Open the left main landing-gear door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (3) Remove the access panel 147BB.
   (4) Remove the access panel 147CB.
   (5) Extend the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-005).
   (6) Put the COVER - PROTECTION over the turbine blades.

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-22-51-020-061-B
A. Removal of the Ram Air Turbine
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
   (1) Loosen the screws (5) from the quick-release fasteners (6).
   (2) Remove the screw (97) from the protective cover (4).
   (3) Remove the protective cover (4) from the RAT compartment (96).
   (4) Disconnect the electrical connectors (2) and (53) from the receptacles (3) and (52).
   (5) Disconnect the electrical connectors (98), (99), (100) and (101) from the RAT actuator (10).
   (6) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL WIRE(S) IS(ARE) DISCONNECTED BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE BONDING STRAP(S).
   (7) Remove the screw (95), the washer (94) and the bonding lead (93) from the RAT actuator (10).
   (8) Remove the screws (41), the washers (42), the P-clips (43) and the spacers (44) that attach the cable (40) in the RAT stowage compartment.
   (9) Remove the screw (46), the washer (47) and the bonding strap (48) from the leg assembly (11).
   (10) Remove and discard the cotter pins (12) and (16).
   (11) Remove the nut (17), the bolt (26), the washers (25), (18) and the bushes (19), (24) from the door link (22) and the distance fork (23).
   (12) Remove the door link (22) from the distance fork (23).
   (13) Remove the distance fork (23) and the washer (90).
   (14) Hold the RAT door 195CB.
   (15) Remove the nut (13) and the bolt (27) with the washers (28), (14) and the bush (15) from the door link (31) and the swivel pin (29).
   (16) Remove the door link (31) from the swivel pin (29).
   (17) Remove the flanged bush (30) from the swivel pin (29).
   (18) Remove the swivel pin (29).
   (19) Hold the RAT door 196CB.
   (20) Remove the nut (33) the washer (32) and the washer (20) from the bolt (21).
   (21) Remove the bolt (21) with the washer (20) from the piston rod eye-end (34) and the leg assembly (11).
   (22) Disengage the RAT actuator (10) from the leg assembly (11) and hold it.
   (23) Put a CONTAINER 4 L (1 USGAL) below the hydraulic connections to collect the unwanted hydraulic fluid.
   (24) Remove and discard the tie wrap (86).
   (25) Disconnect the hose (85) from the leakage drain line (87).
   (26) Loosen the union nuts (54) and disconnect the pipe (92) from the ports (55).
   (27) Loosen the union nuts (50) and disconnect the pipe (91) from the ports (51).
   (28) Remove the screws (82) and the washers (81) from the support plate (80).
   (29) Remove the support plate (80) from the structure (1).
   (30) Remove the nuts (76) only from the safety plate (74) at this time.
   (31) Remove the safety plate (74) from the structure (1).
   (32) Remove the nuts (63), the bolts (60) and the washers (61) from the support bearing (62).
   (33) Hold the RAT.
NOTE: The turbine and the leg assembly weigh a total of approximately 36.1 kg (79.5869 lb).
   (34) Remove the nut (78), but do not remove the bolt (73) at this time.
   (35) Remove the remaining nuts (76) from the screws (70).
   (36) Remove the screws (70) with the washers (71) from the forked bearing (72).
   (37) Remove the bolt (73) from the forked bearing (72).
   (38) Remove the bush (102) from the forked bearing (72).
   (39) Remove the forked bearing (72) from the trunnion (75).
   (40) Remove the support bearing (62) from the trunnion shaft.
   (41) Removal of the RAT
CAUTION: DO NOT PUT THE RAT DOWN ON THE TURBINE BLADES.
     (a) Remove the RAT with the leg assembly (11) from its stowage compartment.
   (42) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (43) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (44) Put blanking caps on the ports.
