Installation of the Inline Damper of the Yellow Engine Pump

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING: DO NOT GET HYDRAULIC FLUID ON YOUR SKIN, IN YOUR EYES OR IN YOUR MOUTH. HYDRAULIC FLUID IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY. FLUSH HYDRAULIC FLUID FROM YOUR EYES, MOUTH OR SKIN WITH WATER. GET MEDICAL AID IF YOU GET HYDRAULIC FLUID IN YOUR EYES OR MOUTH.
WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-46-420-053-B
A. Installation of the Inline Damper of the Yellow Engine Pump
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND ADJACENT COMPONENTS.
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (4) Make sure that a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is in position below the hydraulic pressure hose connection.
   (5) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (6) Apply hydraulic fluid:
CAUTION: DO NOT USE HIGH-DENSITY FLUID SKYDROL 500B-4 FOR A320NEO FAMILY. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) on the new packings (5) and (6) and on the new retainers (4).
     (b) Apply a thin layer of Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) on the threads of the damper (1).
   (7) Install the new AIPC 29-13-51-50-080 PACKING (6) to the damper (1).
   (8) Install the new
AIPC 29-13-51-50-095 PACKING (5) with new AIPC 29-13-51-50-090 RETAINER (4) to the damper (1).
   (9) Install the damper (1) to the hydraulic pump (3).
   (10) TORQUE the damper (1) to between 120 and 110 m.N (88.50 and 81.12 lbf.ft )
T.
   (11) Apply hydraulic fluid:
CAUTION: DO NOT USE HIGH-DENSITY FLUID SKYDROL 500B-4 FOR A320NEO FAMILY. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.
02ABA1) on the threads of the hydraulic pressure hose (2).
   (12) Connect the hydraulic pressure hose (2) to the damper (1).
   (13) Adjust the hydraulic pressure hose (2) to keep preload to a minimum. Make sure that there are no kinks in the hydraulic pressure hose (2).
   (14) Hold the damper (1) with a WRENCH - STANDARD and TORQUE the union nut of the hydraulic pressure hose (2) to between 95 and 85 m.N (840.71 and 75.22 lbf.in ) T.
Use the triple torque procedure as follows:
     (a) Torque to specified value.
     (b) Loosen the nut.
     (c) Torque to specified value.
     (d) Torque to specified value again.
   (15) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line
