A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
   (2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel,
  • on the ground service panel of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (3) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (4) Make sure that the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (5) Make sure that the main doors of the main gear are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (6) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position at the main doors of the main gear.
   (7) Make sure that the CONTAINER 4 L (1 USGAL) is in position below the location of the PTU manifold.
   (8) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).

B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-15-560-050-C
A. Preparation of the Replacement Component
   (1) Remove the components which are attached to the removed manifold (7) as follows:
     (a) Remove the priority valve 3064GM (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-33-000-001).
     (b) Remove the bobbins (9) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-21-911-001).
     (c) Remove and discard these items from the bobbins:
  • the square section seals (10)
  • the back-up rings (36) and (37)
  • the packings (35).
     (d) Put the bobbins (9) into a BAG - PLASTIC to keep them clean.
     (e) Remove the check valve 3093GM and discard the packing (23).
     (f) Remove the coupling half (46) and discard the packing (47).
     (g) If necessary, remove the union (50) and discard the packing (51).
     (h) If necessary, remove the reducer (5) and discard the packing (52).
     (i) If necessary, remove the union (13) and discard the packing (53).
     (j) Install a PLUG - BLANKING on the open ports of the manifold (7).
     (k) Install the blanking plugs on all of the removed components.
   (2) Install the removed components on the replacement manifold (7) as follows:
     (a) Remove the blanking plugs from the manifold (7) and the components.
     (b) Lubricate the new packings and the threads of the components with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
     (c) If removed, install the union (13) with a new AIPC 29-13-15-02-060 PACKING (53).
     (d) TORQUE the union (13) to between 10.7 and 9.7 m.daN (78.91 and 71.53 lbf.ft )
T.
     (e) If removed, install the reducer (5) with a new
AIPC 29-13-15-02-310 PACKING (52).
     (f) TORQUE the reducer (5) to between 10.7 and 9.7 m.daN (78.91 and 71.53 lbf.ft )
T.
     (g) If removed, install the union (50) with a new
AIPC 29-13-15-02-220 PACKING (51).
     (h) TORQUE the union (50) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
T.
     (i) Put the new
AIPC 29-13-15-02-060 PACKING (47) in position on the coupling half (46).
     (j) Install the coupling half (46) on the manifold (7).
     (k) TORQUE the coupling half (46) to between 10.7 and 9.7 m.daN (78.91 and 71.53 lbf.ft )
T.
     (l) Put the new
AIPC 29-13-15-02-060 PACKING (23) in position on the check valve 3093GM.
     (m) Install the check valve 3093GM in the port D of the manifold (7).
     (n) TORQUE the check valve 3093GM to between 10.7 and 9.7 m.daN (78.91 and 71.53 lbf.ft )
T.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (o) Safety the check valve 3093GM with the lockwire, 14QEB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.6 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (p) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.
02ABA1) to the new square-section seals, back-up rings and packings.
     (q) Put the new AIPC 29-13-15-02-130 BACK-UP RINGS (37) on the side of the bobbins (9) without the identification grooves (equipment side).
     (r) Put the new
AIPC 29-13-15-02-140 SQUARE-SECTION SEALS (10) on the side of the bobbins (9) without the identification grooves (equipment side).
     (s) Put the new
AIPC 29-13-15-02-120 BACK-UP RINGS (36) on the side of the bobbins (9) with the identification grooves (manifold side).
     (t) Put the new
AIPC 29-13-15-02-110 PACKINGS (35) on the side of the bobbins (9) with the identification grooves (manifold side).
     (u) Install the bobbins (9) with the identification grooves in the ports of the manifold (7) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-21-911-001).
     (v) Install the priority valve 3064GM (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-33-400-001).

B. Installation of the PTU Manifold
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
CAUTION: YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.
   (1) Remove the sealant from the mating surface of the manifold (7) and the aircraft structure with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
   (2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Examine the structure of the aircraft in the area of the manifold attachment for cracks, corrosion or other damage.
   (5) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) to the mating surface of the manifold (7).
   (6) Put the manifold (7) in position on the aircraft and install the bolts (1) and the washers (2). Do not tighten the bolts (1).
   (7) Remove the blanking plugs from the pipe end-fittings and the unions on the manifold (7).
   (8) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (9) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the threads of the line end-fittings.
   (10) Connect the pipe (11) to the union (13).
   (11) TORQUE the pipe end-fitting (12) to between 10.7 and 9.7 m.daN (78.91 and 71.53 lbf.ft ) T.
   (12) Connect the pipe (21) to the check valve 3093GM.
   (13) TORQUE the pipe end-fitting (22) to between 14.2 and 12.9 m.daN (104.72 and 95.13 lbf.ft )
T.
   (14) Connect the pipe (48) to the union (50).
   (15) TORQUE the pipe end-fitting (49) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
T.
   (16) Connect the pipe (3) to the reducer (5).
   (17) TORQUE the pipe end-fitting (4) to between 5.9 and 5.4 m.daN (43.51 and 39.82 lbf.ft )
T.
   (18) Tighten the bolts (1).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (19) If the heads of the bolts (1) have bores:
   (20) Make sure that the isolation coupling (45) engages correctly in the coupling half (46).
   (21) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors.
   (22) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (23) Connect the electrical connector (29) to the PTU solenoid valve.

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

D. Preparation for the Test
   (1) Connect the isolation coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
   (2) Pressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).

E. Test
   (1) Do the operational test of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-710-002).
   (2) During the operational test, examine the connections of the manifold (7) and make sure that there are no leaks.
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-13-15-860-055-A
A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Remove the container from below the PTU manifold.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (5) Close the main gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
