4. Procedure
Subtask 29-11-49-420-122-B
A. Installation of the Hydraulic Pressure Line from the Pylon to the Green Hydraulic Pump
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WHEN YOU USE HYDRAULIC FLUID. HYDRAULIC FLUID CAN CAUSE SKIN IRRITATION.
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (4) Remove all protective covers and caps from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (5) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (4), (5) and (8) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (6) Put the hydraulic line (2) in position on the engine.
   (7) Connect the hydraulic line (2) to the pylon connector (3) as follows:
     (a) Adjust the routing of the hydraulic line (2) near the pylon connector (3).
     (b) Make sure that the routing of the hydraulic line (2) goes aft of the middle hinge of the fan cowl door.
     (c) Make sure that the middle hinge of the fan cowl door does not hit the hydraulic line when the fan cowl door closes.
     (d) Attach the hydraulic line (2) to the pylon connector (3).
   (8) Adjust the angle of the hydraulic pressure line (2) as follows:
     (a) Find the hydraulic suction line immediately aft of the hydraulic pressure line (2).
     (b) Measure 8 in. (203.20 mm) down from the quick disconnect at the top of the hydraulic suction line.
     (c) Apply a piece of TAPE - ADHESIVE to the hydraulic suction line at the measured location.
     (d) Measure the space between the hydraulic suction line and the hydraulic pressure line (2) at the location of the tape.
     (e) Adjust the angle of the hydraulic pressure line (2) at the pylon connection (3) until the space is 0.795 -0.005 in. or +0.005 in. (20.2 -0.1 mm or +0.1 mm).
   (9) Attach the hydraulic line (2) to the engine at three locations as follows:
     (a) Loosely install the bolts (4), (5) and (8) and the clamps (14), (6) and (7) to attach the hydraulic line (2) to the three support brackets (13), (11) and (9).
     (b) TORQUE the bolts (4), (5) and (8) to between 0.43 and 0.36 m.daN (38.05 and 31.86 lbf.in ) T.
   (10) Connect the hydraulic line (2) to the pressure transducer (10) as follows:
     (a) Manually connect the fitting on the hydraulic line (2) to the pressure transducer (10).
     (b) Use a WRENCH - STANDARD to hold the fitting on the pressure transducer (10).
     (c) TORQUE the tube nut on the hydraulic line (2) to between 4.58 and 4.29 m.daN (33.78 and 31.64 lbf.ft )
T.
   (11) Connect the hydraulic pressure tube (2) to the hydraulic pump (1) as follows:
     (a) Connect the tube nut on the hydraulic pressure tube (2) to the hydraulic pump (1).
     (b) TORQUE the tube nut to between 9.50 and 8.50 m.daN (70.06 and 62.68 lbf.ft )
T.
1 Use the triple torque procedure as follows:
a Torque to the specified value.
b Loosen the nut by one turn.
c Torque to the specified value.
d Torque to the specified value again.
   (12) TORQUE the tube nut on the hydraulic line (2) at the pylon connector
(3) to between 10.70 and 9.70 m.daN (78.91 and 71.53 lbf.ft )
T.
   (13) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line
(
Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).
Subtask 29-11-49-820-050-A
B. Check of the Fan Cowl Door
   (1) Slowly and carefully try to close the fan cowl door. During the travel, examine the clearance between the middle hinge of the fan cowl door and the hydraulic line (2).
   (2) If there is not sufficient clearance between the middle hinge and the hydraulic line (2), open the fan cowl door immediately. Loosen the pylon connection and adjust the routing to get the necessary clearance.
   (3) Refer to paragraph 4.A.(8) and do a check of the space between the suction line and the pressure line.
   (4) Remove the piece of tape from the suction line.
Subtask 29-11-49-710-083-A
C. Operational Test
   (1) Do the operational test of the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-00-710-001).
   (2) After the dry-motoring, make sure that there were no leaks from the hydraulic connections.
   (3) Make sure that the level of the hydraulic fluid in the Green reservoir is correct. If necessary, fill the reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
5. Close-up
