3. Job Set-up
Subtask 28-11-27-860-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work in a fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
   (3) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (4) On the right side of the belly fairing, open quick-release access door 192MB.
   (5) On refuel/defuel control-panels 800VU and 801VU:
  • Set the REFUEL VALVE(S) switches to the OPEN position
  • Set the MODE SELECT switch to the REFUEL position.

   (6) Move the fuel from applicable ACT(s) to the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
   (7) Drain the remaining fuel from ACT AFT1 (ACT1) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-005).
   (8) On refuel/defuel control-panels 800VU and 801VU, make sure that:
  • The REFUEL VALVE(S) switches is (are) in the NORM position
  • The MODE SELECT switch is in the OFF position.

   (9) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on refuel/defuel control-panels 800VU and 801VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.
   (10) On the right side of the belly fairing, close quick-release access door 192MB.
   (11) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at aft cargo-compartment door .
   (12) Open and safety aft cargo-compartment door 826 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (13) In the cockpit:
     (a) Look at the ECAM SD fuel page and make sure that the fuel quantity for the applicable ACT shows 0 kg (0 lb).
     (b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the panels that follow to tell persons not to operate the fuel system:
  • Fuel control-panel 40VU
  • ACT control-panel 28VU.

C. Visual Inspection - Before Removal of ACT AFT1 (ACT1)
   (1) Do a leakage check of leak monitors 254QM and 255QM for signs of fuel leakage on ACT(s) installed in the aft cargo compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-00-200-003).
   (2) If you find signs of a leakage, clean the area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) :
     (a) Make sure that there are no leaks.
Subtask 28-11-27-010-053-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Get Access
NOTE: You can use the 98D28108298000 STOWAGE - CONTAINER FUEL, ACT or 98D28108388000 STOWAGE - CONTAINER FUEL, ACT 1 AND 2 for this procedure.
   (1) Remove ACT AFT2 from the aft cargo compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-27-000-003).
   (2) Remove the ACT integrated impact wall from the aft cargo compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-49-000-002).
   (3) On the lower fuselage, below ACT AFT1:
     (a) Remove the water drain-valve service-panel to get access to the water drain valve of ACT AFT1.
     (b) Remove the cavity drain service-panel to get access to the cavity drain port of ACT AFT1.
   (4) To get access to the vent and fuel line of ACT AFT1, remove floor panel 251KG on the cargo ceiling panel (Ref. AMM TASK 53-32-12-000-002).
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-11-27-020-053-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of ACT AFT1
   (1) Disconnect the electrical harness of ACT AFT1 as follows:
F Electrical Connections (ACT AFT1) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: TO PREVENT POSSIBLE CROSS-CONNECTION OF THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS, MAKE SURE THAT PLUGS AND RECEPTACLES ARE CLEARLY IDENTIFIED.
CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE CONNECTOR PINS OR OTHER CONDUCTORS ON THE COMPONENT DURING THE PROCEDURE. IF YOU TOUCH THESE CONDUCTORS, ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO COMPONENT.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) In the aft cargo compartment, on the cargo ceiling disconnect the electrical connectors (11), (12), (13) and (14) from the receptacles.
     (b) Put a CAP - BLANKING on all the disconnected receptacles.
     (c) On ACT AFT1, connect the electrical connectors (11), (12), (13) and (14) to the ACT stowage ports (15), (16), (17) and (18).
   (2) Disconnect the bonding straps (4) from the aircraft structure as follows:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S) IS(ARE) DISCONNECTED BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE BONDING STRAP(S).
     (a) Remove the screws (3) and the washers (5) from the anchor nuts (1) and disconnect the bonding straps (4).
     (b) Safety the bonding straps (4) to ACT AFT1 with a TIE WRAP(S).
   (3) Disconnect the air hose assembly (7) from ACT AFT1 pressure line as follows:
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE HOSE NUTS. USE ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE FITTING AND ONE WRENCH TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE HOSE NUT. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Loosen the union nut (6) and disconnect the air hose assembly (7) from the elbow union (10).
     (b) Attach the air hose assembly (7) to ACT AFT1 with a TAPE - ADHESIVE.
     (c) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (4) Remove the water drain tube (23) from ACT AFT1 as follows:
F Water Drain Assembly (ACT AFT1) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove the screw (30), washer (29), bonding strap (28) and spacer (31).
     (b) Remove and discard the retaining ring (27) with a PLIERS - THIN NOSE.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE SPRING. THE TENSION IN THE SPRING CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
     (c) Remove the flange (26) and the compression spring (25) from the drain tube (23).
     (d) Put a 98D28108561000 EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE into the drain tube (23).
     (e) Turn the 98D28108561000 EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE to 90 deg (90 deg) until it hangs in the drain tube (23).
     (f) Pull the 98D28108561000 EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE down and remove the drain tube (23) from the water drain port (21).
     (g) Pull the 98D28108561000 EXTRACTOR - WATER DRAIN TUBE out from the drain tube (23).
     (h) Remove and discard the O-rings (22) and (24) from the drain tube (23).
   (5) Remove the cavity drain assembly (36) from ACT AFT1 as follows:
F Cavity Drain Assembly (ACT AFT1) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE HOSE NUTS. USE ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE FITTING AND ONE WRENCH TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE HOSE NUT. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Disconnect the union nuts (38) from the drain fitting (37) and the pipe fitting (40).
     (b) Remove the hose (39).
     (c) Push and turn the cavity drain assembly (36) clockwise, approximately to 60 deg (60 deg).
     (d) Make sure that the locking plate (34) of the cavity drain assembly (36) is disengaged from the base plate (32) of ACT AFT1.
     (e) Remove the cavity drain assembly (36) from the cavity drain port (31).
     (f) Remove and discard the O-rings (33) and (35) from the cavity drain assembly (36).
     (g) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (6) Disconnect the flexible vent hose (71) from ACT AFT1 as follows:
F Vent Hose (ACT AFT1) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove the nuts (72) from the studs (77).
   (7) Disconnect the flexible fuel hose (87) from ACT AFT1 as follows:
F Fuel Hose (ACT AFT1) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Put a 98D28108328000 CONTAINER - REST FUEL, ACT below the flexible fuel hose (87) to collect the fuel remaining from the hose.
     (b) Remove the nuts (86) from the studs (81).
   (8) Remove the latch elements (123) from ACT AFT1 as follows:
     (a) Make match marks on the components that you disconnect/remove to record their connections/positions. This is important for the subsequent installation procedure.
     (b) Remove the bolts (121) and the washers (122) from the latch elements (123).
     (c) Remove the latch elements (123) from the roller track (125).
   (9) Remove ACT AFT1 from the aft cargo compartment as follows:
F Vent Hose (ACT AFT1) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F Fuel Hose (ACT AFT1) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F ACT Guide ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Put a LOADER - PLATFORM at the aft cargo-door opening.
     (b) In the aft cargo compartment, install a 98D28108299002 GUIDE-R I,ADDITIONAL CENTER TANK in the correct position on the aft cargo-compartment floor as follows:
       1 Install the bolts (216) in position in the seat track (217).
       2 Install the fasteners (218) in position in the seat track (217).
       3 Install the rail (206) in position.
       4 Safety the rail (206) in position with the pin (220).
       5 Install the connection part (212) into the holes of the support (219).
       6 Install the connection part (211) and the nut (210).
       7 Tighten the nut (210).
       8 Install the rail (209) in the position.
       9 Safety the rail (209) in position with the pin (221).
       10 Install the connection rails (207) in their position.
       11 Safety the connection rails (207) with the pins (215) and (222).
       12 Install the stop (213) in position.
       13 Safety the stop (213) with the ball lock pins (214).
       14 Install the stop (208) on the rails (206) and (209).
       15 Safety the stop (208) with the pins (223) and (224).
     (c) Carefully pull ACT AFT1 away from the flexible vent hose (71) and the flexible fuel hose (87).
     (d) Disconnect the flexible vent hose (71) from the ACT flange (74) as follows:
       1 Remove and discard the O-rings (75) and (76) from the vent hose flange (73).
     (e) Disconnect the flexible fuel hose (87) from the ACT flange (84) as follows:
       1 Remove and discard the O-rings (82) and (83) from the flexible fuel-hose flange (85).
     (f) Put a CAP - SEALING on the ends of the flexible vent hose (71) and the flexible fuel hose (87).
     (g) Move ACT AFT1 out of the aft cargo compartment.
     (h) On ACT fuel-panel 28VU, install a LABEL - ADHESIVE, INOP for ACT AFT1.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
NOTE: If you do not install ACT AFT1 (ACT1), it is necessary to close this (these) circuit breaker (s).

A. Preparation for Storage
WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) If the ACT is not installed in twenty days, you must do the step that follow:
     (a) Do the storage procedure in the workshop.
NOTE: It is necessary to do the storage procedure in the workshop to prevent possible damage in the bladder tank.
Subtask 28-11-27-010-054-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Removal of the Air Hose Assembly
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE HOSE NUTS. USE ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE FITTING AND ONE WRENCH TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE HOSE NUT. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
   (1) Loosen the union nut (8) and disconnect the air hose assembly (7) from the check valve (9).
   (2) Remove the air hose assembly (7).
   (3) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
Subtask 28-11-27-420-057-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Installation of the Protective Blank Flange-Caps on ACT AFT1
   (1) When ACT AFT1 is removed from the aircraft, you must close the openings of ACT AFT1:
  • You must put ACT AFT1 into storage.
   (2) Install the cavity-drain blanking plug on ACT AFT1:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) on the new AIPC 28-11-84-01-060 O-RING (155).
     (b) Put the O-ring (155) on the cavity drain plug (151).
     (c) Put the cavity drain plug (151) into the opening of ACT AFT1.
     (d) Turn the cavity drain plug (151) 60 deg (60 deg) counterclockwise to seal the port.
     (e) Make sure that the cavity drain plug (151) is fully engaged.
   (3) Install the protective blank flange-caps on the fuel line and vent line ends of ACT AFT1:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.
03FAB1) on the new AIPC 28-11-84-05-140 O-RING (143), AIPC 28-11-84-05-043 O-RING (144), AIPC 28-11-84-05-140 O-RING (156), AIPC 28-11-84-05-043 O-RING (157) and AIPC 28-11-84-05-043 O-RING (149).
     (b) Put the O-rings (143), (144) and the inner blanking flange (150) on the end of the ACT vent line.
     (c) Install the nuts (145) on the studs (142).
     (d) TORQUE the nuts (145) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
T.
     (e) Make sure that the pressure relief screw (146) is installed on inner blanking flange (150).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (f) Safety the pressure relief screw (146) with a 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (g) Put the O-ring (149) and the outer blanking flange (148) on the inner blanking flange (150).
     (h) Install the nuts (147) on the studs (141).
     (i) TORQUE the nuts (147) opposite to each other to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )

     (j) Put the O-rings (156) and (157) and the blanking flange (153) on the end of the ACT fuel line.

     (l) TORQUE the nuts (152) opposite to each other to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )

   (4) In the aft cargo compartment, put a
98D28108563000 COVER, FUEL VENT-ACT on the vent and fuel pipe ends.
NOTE: This makes sure that no fuel fumes can enter the aft cargo compartment.
