3. Job Set-up
Subtask 25-68-00-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) If you need to install a panel assembly in the forward cargo-compartment:
     (a) Open the forward cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
     (b) Install the actuator safety locks.
     (c) Set light switch 6LU to the ON position.
     (d) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the control panel to tell persons not to use the cargo-loading system.
   (3) If you need to install a panel assembly in the aft or the bulk cargo-compartment:
     (a) Open the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
     (b) Install the actuator safety locks.
     (c) In the aft cargo-compartment, at service panel 2024VU, set light switch 8LU to the ON position.
     (d) In the bulk cargo-compartment set light switch 8LU to the ON position.
     (e) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the control panel to tell persons not to use the cargo-loading system.
4. Procedure
Subtask 25-68-00-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of a Rapid Decompression Panel in the Cargo Compartment
WARNING: WEAR GLOVES TO AVOID INJURY TO HANDS.
   (1) Removal procedure:
NOTE: The panel assembly (1) includes a frame (2), a panel (3) and fasteners (4).
     (a) Remove the related cargo-compartment panels (5) in the areas where you want to install the panels (3):
     (b) Put the related cargo-compartment panel (5) on a flat surface with the rear side of the panel (3) on top.
     (c) Push each inner latch (8) back to disconnect the catch (9) from the frame (2).
     (d) Remove the panel (3) from the frame (2).
     (e) Push each outer latch (8) back to disconnect the catch (9) from the related cargo-compartment panel (5).
     (f) Remove the frame (2) from the related cargo-compartment panel (5).
   (2) Inspection procedure:
     (a) Do a check of the panel (3), the related cargo-compartment panel (5), the foam-tape (7) and the flame-retardant strip (6).
     (b) If the panel (3) and/or the related cargo-compartment panel (5) is damaged, do a repair (Ref. AMM TASK 25-50-00-200-024).
     (c) If the foam-tape (7) or the flame-retardant strip (6) is damaged, replace them:
       1 Replace the flame-retardant strip (6):
         a Remove the damaged flame-retardant strip (6) as necessary.
         b Clean the repair area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
         c Cut the new Adhesive Tape-Fire Blocking - Furnishing (Material No.05TLA6) (6) to the necessary length.
         d Remove the protective paper and put the new flame-retardant strip (6) in position on the panel (3).
       2 Replace the foam-tape (7):
         a Remove the damaged foam-tape (7) as necessary.
         b Clean the repair area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
         c Cut the new Sealing Profile-- Silicone Foam - (Material No.14JAB1) (7) to the necessary length.
         d Remove the protective paper from the new foam-tape (7).
         e Carefully put the new foam-tape (7) in position on the panel (3). Make sure that you do not pull the foam-tape (7).
         f Make sure that the distance between two pieces of foam-tape (7) is less than 0.5 mm (0.02 in.).
   (3) Set procedure for the fasteners (4):
     (a) Put the frame (2) on a flat surface with the fasteners (4) on the top side.
     (b) Push all catches (9) that are in the disengaged position to the closed position.
   (4) Assembly procedure:
     (a) Put the panel (3) on the center of the catches (9) and on the frame (2).
     (b) Carefully push the panel (3) until each catch (9) engages.
     (c) Make sure that the edge of the frame (2) makes a seal with the foam-tape (7).
   (5) Installation procedure:
     (a) Put the panel assembly (1) on a flat surface with the fasteners (4) on the top side.
     (b) Put the related cargo-compartment panel (5) on the center of the catches (9) of the panel assembly (1).
     (c) Carefully push the related cargo-compartment panel (5) until each catch (9) engages.
     (d) Make sure that the edge of the frame (2) makes a seal with the foam-tape (7).
     (e) Make sure that all catches (9) are in the closed position and that all latches (8) are in the correct position.
NOTE: This is important to keep the panel in the correct installation position.
     (f) Install the removed cargo-compartment panels (5):

A. Installation Procedure
NOTE: The panel assembly (1) includes a frame (2), a panel (3) and fasteners (4).
   (1) Removal procedure:
     (a) Remove the related cargo-compartment panels (5) in the areas where you want to install the panels (3):
     (b) Put the related cargo-compartment panel (5) on a flat surface with the rear side of the panel (3) on top.
     (c) Push each latch (8) back to disconnect the catch (9) from the panel (3).
     (d) Remove the panel (3) from the frame (2).
     (e) Remove the screws (10) and the frame (2) from the related cargo-compartment panel (5).
   (2) Inspection procedure:
     (a) Do a check of the panel (3), the related cargo-compartment panel (5), the foam-tape (7) and the flame-retardant strip (6).
     (b) If the panel (3) and/or the related cargo-compartment panel (5) is damaged, do a repair (Ref. AMM TASK 25-50-00-200-024).
     (c) If the foam-tape (7) or the flame-retardant strip (6) is damaged, replace them:
       1 Replace the flame-retardant strip (6):
         a Remove the damaged flame-retardant strip (6) as necessary.
         b Clean the repair area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
         c Cut the new Adhesive Tape-Fire Blocking - Furnishing (Material No.05TLA6) (6) to the necessary length.
         d Remove the protective paper and put the new flame-retardant strip (6) in position on the panel (3).
       2 Replace the foam-tape (7):
         a Remove the damaged foam-tape (7) as necessary.
         b Clean the repair area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .

     (a) Put the panel assembly (1) on a flat surface with the fasteners (4) on the top side.
     (b) Install the panel assembly (1) with the screws (10) in the related cargo-compartment panel (5).
     (c) Make sure that the edge of the frame (2) makes a seal with the foam-tape (7).
     (d) Make sure that all catches (9) are in the closed position and that all latches (8) are in the correct position.
NOTE: This is important to keep the panel in the correct installation position.
     (e) Install the removed cargo-compartment panels (5):
5. Close-up
Subtask 25-68-00-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) If you installed a panel assembly in the forward cargo-compartment:
     (a) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
     (b) Set light switch 6LU to the OFF position.
     (c) Remove the safety lock from the actuator.
     (d) Close the forward cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (3) If you installed a panel assembly in the aft or the bulk cargo-compartment:
     (a) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
     (b) In the bulk cargo-compartment, set light switch 8LU to the OFF position.
     (c) In the aft cargo-compartment, set light switch 8LU to the OFF position.
     (d) Remove the safety lock from the actuator.
     (e) Close the aft cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
   (5) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
