C. Identification of the Damaged Area
CAUTION: THIS REPAIR METHOD DOES NOT COVER THE REPAIR OF THE DECOMPRESSION PANELS.
   (1) Examine the decompression flange area of the lining panel for damage.
   (2) Measure the dimensions of the damage in these directions:
  • L1, length of the damage through
  • L2, length of the prepreg delamination
  • W1, width of the damage through
  • W2, width of the prepreg delamination.
   (3) Make sure that the minimum distance between damaged areas on one panel is 76 mm (2.9921 in.). If the minimum distance is less than 76 mm (2.9921 in.), you must think of the two damaged areas as one damage.
   (4) Make sure that the minimum distance between the damaged area and the repaired area on one panel is 76 mm (2.9921 in.).
   (5) Make sure that the total number of repairs (the new repairs and the repairs you did) in the flange area are not more than two.
   (6) If the total number of repairs are more than two, replace the lining panel.
Subtask 25-50-00-020-068-A
D. Removal of the Damaged Lining Panels
   (1) Remove the forward cargo-compartment partition from FR24A (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-11-000-001).
   (2) Remove the ceiling panels from the forward cargo compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-002).
   (3) Remove the forward cargo compartment partition from FR34 or FR35.5 (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-001).
   (4) Remove the ceiling panels from the aft cargo compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-002).
   (5) Remove the decompression panels (Ref. AMM TASK 25-68-41-960-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 25-50-00-350-055-A
A. Repair of the Damaged Area
   (1) Remove the damaged material from the flanges of the lining panel.
NOTE: Do not cut or remove the delaminated prepreg layer.
   (2) Clean the repair area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) Make the damaged area smooth with a CLOTH - ABRASIVE (GRADE 120-180).
   (4) Clean the repair area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (5) Make sure that the repair area is dry.
   (6) Cut two repair patches of stainless steel with thickness of 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.) to the applicable dimensions and obey these instructions:
  • Make sure that the repair patch is Y= 38 mm (1.4961 in.) larger but max Y= 50 mm (1.9685 in.) than the damaged area in all directions excluding the panel edge.
  • Make sure that the repair patches do not make an overlap with other repair patch.
  • To prevent delamination and sharp edges, make a radius of R= 10.00 mm (0.3937 in.) to R= 15.00 mm (0.5906 in.) on each corner of the patches.
  • Make sure that the repair patch(es) follow(s) the panel edge on the decompression panel cutout.
  • Make sure that the repair patches include additional delamination around the damaged area if applicable.
  • Make sure that the area of interface to structure is clear and free of rivets on the rear side.
   (7) Make the edges of the repair patch(es) smooth with a CLOTH - ABRASIVE (GRADE 120-180).
   (8) Clean the repair patch(es) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (9) Apply Epoxy Adhesive-General Up to 60°C - (Material No.05EAR1) to:
  • The repair patch II
and the prepared mating surface on the rear side of the lining panel and stick both parts together.
NOTE: Obey the manufactures instructions and the respective curing time.
   (10) Fill the Low density compound-Fire compliant Low temperature curing Furnishing Low density compound-Fire compliant Low temperature curing Furnishing (Material No.13GBB3) into the prepared area.
   (11) Make sure that the filler has the same thickness and contour as the lining panel.
NOTE: Obey the manufactures instructions.
   (12) Apply Epoxy Adhesive-General Up to 60°C - (Material No.05EAR1) to:
  • The repair patch I
and the prepared mating surface on the front side of the lining panel and stick both parts together facing the patch II.
NOTE: Obey the manufactures instructions and the respective curing time.
   (13) Drill holes along the edges of the patches, through all of the lining panel assembly with a 3.3 mm (0.1299 in.) to 3.5 mm (0.1378 in.) drill:
     (a) Make sure that:
  • The distance between the holes is between 20.00 mm (0.7874 in.) and 50.00 mm (1.9685 in.).
  • The rivets distance is between 10.00 mm (0.3937 in.) to 15.00 mm (0.5906 in.) from the edge of the repair patch.
NOTE: Keep area clean for interface to structure and rapid decompression flange. If necessary displace the rivet position appropriately.
   (14) Remove all dust and loose particles.
   (15) Do a check of the grip range of the related rivets:
     (a) Use one of these rivets:
  • Monel Rivet NAS1919-M-04-S-xx-U
  • CRES Rivet NAS1919-C-04-S-xx-U.
   (16) Install rivets from the front side of the lining panel with a GUN - RIVET.
   (17) If necessary drill a hole through the lining panel (patch-panel-patch) according to the definition dossier drawing for the sidewall/partition panel attachment-elements before you install the panel. Adapt the grip range of the ABS0336 if necessary.
   (18) Clean the flanges area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (19) Apply FOAM SEAL ABS 5006-XX in the decompression flanges area.
   (20) Apply STRIP ABS5027C15-XX in the decompression flanges area.
