decompression panels:

Subtask 25-68-41-910-050-A
A. Preparation for Replacement of the Decompression Panels with H-Profiles in the Cargo Compartment Ceiling-Panels
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (1) Make sure, that the decompression panel (1) is in correct condition.
   (2) Make sure, that the drill holes (3) are with the correct diameter on the panel latch (2).
   (3) Cut the new h-profile (5) to the finished length.
   (4) Clean contact surfaces of linings and inside of channel of the h-profile with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) .
   (5) Put the panel latch (2) on a PLATE - BASE, RUBBER.
   (6) Apply Epoxy Adhesive-- - Legacy 1 (Material No.05EML9) (4) to inside of channel of the h-profile (5) of the honeycomb panel (6).
NOTE: Apply adhesive generously to the edges of the panel where honeycomb is exposed.
   (7) Install the honeycomb panel (6) and let the adhesive cure.
   (8) Install the panel laches (2).
NOTE: If adhesive tape is detached at the corners of the decompression panel, clean areas and renew adhesive tape.
   (9) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.

B. Replacement of the Decompression Panels in the Passenger Compartment

   (1) Remove the decompression-panel assembly:
     (a) Remove the screws (2) and the washers (3).
     (b) Carefully remove the decompression-panel assembly (1) from the
dado panel (7).
     (c) Remove the screws (4), the washers (5) and the covers (6) from the dado panel (7).
   (2) Install the decompression-panel assembly:
     (a) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
     (b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (d) Put the covers (6) in position on the dado panel (7), and install the washers (5) and the screws (4).
     (e) Put the decompression-panel assembly (1) in position on the dado panel (7).
     (f) Install the washers (3) and the screws (2).

C. Replacement of the Decompression Panels in the Cargo-Compartment Ceiling-Panels
   (1) Remove the decompression panel:
     (a) Remove the nuts (7) and the washers (6).
     (b) Remove the sheet-assemblies (4) and the decompression-fasteners (5).
     (c) Carefully remove the decompression-frame (3) and the decompression-panel (2) from the ceiling-panel (1).
   (2) Install the decompression-panel:
CAUTION: DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE WHEN YOU REMOVE THE COVER AS THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE RETAINER.
     (a) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
     (b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (d) If necessary, install new flame-retardant material
(referred to as the strips):
       1 Remove the remaining strips (8) and the foam-tape (9) from the ceiling-panel (1) and from the decompression-panel (2).
       2 Clean the area where you removed the strips and the foam-tape:
         a Clean the area where you removed the strips and the foam-tape with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
       3 Cut the new Film-Insulation covering - - (Material No.14HQB1) (9) to the necessary length.
       4 Remove the protective foil from the foam-tape (9).
       5 Carefully install the foam-tape (9) in the applicable areas of the ceiling-panel (1) and the decompression-panel (2).
NOTE: The joints of the foam-tape should not be in the corners of the installation area, when you install the new foam-tape (9).
       6 Cut the new Active Fire-Blocking Strip ABS5027C 15-06 (8) to the necessary length.
       7 Remove the protective foil from the strips (8).
       8 Carefully install the strips (8) in the applicable areas of the ceiling-panel (1) and the decompression-panel (2).
NOTE: When you install the new strips (8), the joints of the strips:
  • Should not be in the corners of the installation area
  • Should not be parallel to each other.
       9 Install adhesive tape on each joint of the strips:
         a Measure a distance of a minimum of 10 mm (0.3937 in.) on each end of the strips (8) and make a mark.
         b Install Double Sided Adhesive Tape-Carpet & Furnishing - Legacy (Material No.05PHB9) (10) on each joint of the strips (8) in the area you have made the marks.
     (e) Put the decompression-panel (2) together with the decompression-frame (3) in position in the ceiling-panel (1).
     (f) Put the sheet-assemblies (4) and the decompression-fasteners (5) in position.
     (g) Make sure that the locating-pin of the fastener (5) is correctly installed in the related locating-hole of the frame (3) (see DETAIL "E").
     (h) Install the washers (6) and the nuts (7) but do not tighten the nuts at this time.
     (i) Make sure that the position of the decompression-panel (2) in the ceiling-panel (1) is symmetrical.
     (j) Tighten and TORQUE the nuts (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-11-911-001).
Subtask 25-68-41-920-051-F ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Replacement of the Decompression Panels in the Cargo-Compartment Ceiling-Panels
   (1) Remove the decompression panel:
     (a) Remove the nuts (7) and the washers (6).
     (b) Remove the sheet-assemblies (4) and the decompression-fasteners (5).
     (c) Remove the screws (8).
     (d) Carefully remove the decompression-frame (3) and the decompression-panel (2) from the ceiling-panel (1).
   (2) Install the decompression-panel:
CAUTION: DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE WHEN YOU REMOVE THE COVER AS THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE RETAINER.
     (a) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
     (b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (d) If necessary, install new flame-retardant material
(referred to as the strips):
       1 Remove the remaining strips (9) and the foam-tape (10) from the ceiling-panel (1) and from the decompression-panel (2).
       2 Clean the area where you removed the strips and the foam-tape:
         a Clean the area where you removed the strips and the foam-tape with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
       3 Cut the new Film-Insulation covering - - (Material No.14HQB1) (10) to the necessary length.
       4 Remove the protective foil from the foam-tape (10).
       5 Carefully install the foam-tape (10) in the applicable areas of the ceiling-panel (1) and the decompression-panel (2).
NOTE: The joints of the foam-tape should not be in the corners of the installation area, when you install the new foam-tape (10).
       6 Cut the new Active Fire-Blocking Strip ABS5027C 15-06 (9) to the necessary length.
       7 Remove the protective foil from the strips (9).
       8 Carefully install the strips (9) in the applicable areas of the ceiling-panel (1) and the decompression-panel (2).
NOTE: When you install the new strips (9), the joints of the strips:
  • Should not be in the corners of the installation area
  • Should not be parallel to each other.
       9 Install adhesive tape on each joint of the strips:
         a Measure a distance of a minimum of 10 mm (0.3937 in.) on each end of the strips (9) and make a mark.
         b Install Double Sided Adhesive Tape-Carpet & Furnishing - Legacy (Material No.05PHB9) (11) on each joint of the strips (9) in the area you have made the marks.
     (e) Put the decompression-panel (2) together with the decompression-frame (3) in position in the ceiling-panel (1).
     (f) Put the sheet-assemblies (4) and the decompression-fasteners (5) in position.
     (g) Make sure that the locating-pin of the fastener (5) is correctly installed in the related locating-hole of the frame (3) (see DETAIL "E").
     (h) Install the washers (6) and the nuts (7) but do not tighten the nuts at this time.
     (i) Make sure that the position of the decompression-panel (2) in the ceiling-panel (1) is symmetrical.
     (j) Tighten and TORQUE the nuts (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-11-911-001).
Subtask 25-68-41-920-051-V ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Replacement of the Decompression Panels in the Cargo-Compartment Ceiling-Panels
   (1) Remove the decompression panel:
     (a) Push the latches (2) of the latch assemblies back into their housings, against the spring-tension.
     (b) Carefully remove the decompression-panel (1) from the ceiling-panel (3).
   (2) Disassemble the decompression panel:
     (a) Remove the screws (5), the washers (6) and the frame assembly (4).
     (b) Remove the screws (8) and the latch assemblies (7).
   (3) Assemble the decompression panel:
     (a) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
     (b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (d) If necessary, install new foam-tape:
       1 Remove the remaining foam-tape (9).
       2 Clean the area where you removed the foam-tape:
         a Clean the area where you removed the foam tape (9) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
       3 Cut the new Film-Insulation covering - - (Material No.14HQB1) (9) to the required shape and length.
       4 Remove the protective foil from the foam-tape (9).
       5 Measure a distance of 3.0 mm (0.12 in.) from the edge of the panel-frame to the area where you install the foam tape (9) and make a mark (see DETAIL "F-F").
       6 Carefully install the foam-tape (9) in the applicable areas of the decompression-panel (1).
       7 Make sure that the distance between the foam-tape (9) and the edge of the panel-frame is 3.0 (0.12 in.) (see DETAIL "F-F").
     (e) Put the latch assemblies (7) in position on the decompression-panel (1) and install the screws (8).
     (f) TORQUE the screws (8) to 0.2 m.daN (17.70 lbf.in ) T.
     (g) Make sure that the latches of the latch assemblies (7) move freely in their housings.
     (h) Put the frame assembly (4) in position on the decompression-panel (1) and make sure that the flame-retardant material is in the correct position.
     (i) Install the washers (6) and the screws (5).
   (4) Install the decompression panel:
     (a) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (b) Make sure that the decompression panel (1) is clean and in the correct condition.
     (c) Put the decompression-panel (1) in position on the ceiling-panel (3) and install it.
NOTE: Use a stable force over the full surface of the decompression panel (1) when you push the decompression panel in the related opening of the ceiling panel (3).
     (d) Make sure that the flame-retardant material is in its correct position between the decompression-panel (1) and the ceiling-panel (3), and that:
  • the flame-retardant material is not in position between the foam tape (9) and the ceiling panel (3) (see DETAIL "C-C").

  • the flame-retardant material seals the ceiling panel (3) tightly (see DETAIL "C-C").

  • the flame-retardant material does not cause a blockage of the latches of the latch assemblies (see DETAIL "D-D").
     (e) Make sure that the position of the decompression panel (1) in the ceiling panel (3) is symmetrical.
     (f) Make sure that all latches (2) of the latch-assemblies are locked.
Subtask 25-68-41-920-051-W ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Replacement of the Decompression Panels in the Cargo-Compartment Ceiling-Panels
   (1) Remove the decompression panel:
     (a) Push the latches (7) of the latch assemblies back into their housings, against the spring-tension.
     (b) Carefully remove the decompression-panel (1) from the ceiling-panel (8).
   (2) Remove the screws (6), the protection-devices (4) and (5), and the spacers (2) and (3) from the ceiling-panel (6).
   (3) Disassemble the decompression panel:
     (a) Remove the screws (10), the washers (11) and the frame assembly (9).
     (b) Remove the screws (13) and the latch assemblies (12).
   (4) Assemble the decompression panel:
     (a) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
     (b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (d) If necessary, install new foam-tape:
       1 Remove the remaining foam-tape (14).
       2 Clean the area where you removed the foam-tape:
         a Clean the area where you removed the foam-tape (14) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
       3 Cut the new Film-Insulation covering - - (Material No.14HQB1) (14) to the required shape and length.
       4 Remove the protective foil from the foam-tape (14).
       5 Measure a distance of 3.0 mm (0.12 in.) from the edge of the panel-frame to the area where you install the foam tape (14) and make a mark (see DETAIL "F-F").
       6 Carefully install the foam-tape (14) in the applicable areas of the decompression-panel (1).
       7 Make sure that the distance between the foam-tape (14) and the edge of the panel-frame is 3.0 mm (0.12 in.) (see DETAIL "F-F").
     (e) Put the latch assemblies (12) in position on the decompression-panel (1) and install the screws (13).
     (f) TORQUE the screws (13) to between 0.22 and 0.18 m.daN (19.47 and 15.93 lbf.in ) T.
     (g) Make sure that the latches of the latch assemblies (12) move freely in their housings.
     (h) Put the frame assembly (9) in position on the decompression-panel (1) and make sure that the flame-retardant material is in the correct position.
     (i) Install the washers (11) and the screws (11).
   (5) Put the spacers (2) and (3), and the protection-devices (4) and (5) in position on the ceiling-panel (8), and install the screws (6).
   (6) Install the decompression panel:
     (a) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (b) Make sure that the decompression panel (1) is clean and in the correct condition.
     (c) Put the decompression-panel (1) in position on the ceiling-panel (8) and install it.
NOTE: Use a stable force over the full surface of the decompression panel (1) when you push the decompression panel in the related opening of the ceiling panel (8).
     (d) Make sure that the flame-retardant material is in its correct position between the decompression-panel (1) and the ceiling-panel (8), and that:
  • the flame-retardant material is not in position between the foam tape (14) and the ceiling panel (6) (see DETAIL "C-C").

  • the flame-retardant material seals the ceiling panel (8) tightly (see DETAIL "C-C").

  • the flame-retardant material does not cause a blockage of the latches of the latch assemblies (see DETAIL "D-D").
     (e) Make sure that the position of the decompression panel (1) in the ceiling panel (8) is symmetrical.
     (f) Make sure that all latches (7) of the latch-assemblies are locked.

C. Replacement of the Decompression Panels in the Cargo-Compartment Ceiling-Panels
   (1) Remove the decompression panel:
     (a) Remove the nuts (7) and the washers (6).
     (b) Remove the sheet-assemblies (4) and the decompression-fasteners (5).
     (c) Carefully remove the decompression-frame (3) and the decompression-panel (2) from the ceiling-panel (1).
   (2) Install the decompression-panel:
CAUTION: DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE WHEN YOU REMOVE THE COVER AS THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE RETAINER.
     (a) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
     (b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (d) If necessary, install new flame-retardant material
(referred to as the strips):
       1 Remove the remaining strips (8) and the foam-tape (9) from the ceiling-panel (1) and from the decompression-panel (2).
       2 Clean the area where you removed the strips and the foam-tape:
         a Clean the area where you removed the strips and the foam-tape with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
       3 Cut the new Film-Insulation covering - - (Material No.14HQB1) (9) to the necessary length.
       4 Remove the protective foil from the foam-tape (9).
       5 Carefully install the foam-tape (9) in the applicable areas of the ceiling-panel (1) and the decompression-panel (2).
NOTE: The joints of the foam-tape should not be in the corners of the installation area, when you install the new foam-tape (9).
       6 Cut the new Active Fire-Blocking Strip ABS5027C 15-06 (8) to the necessary length.
       7 Remove the protective foil from the strips (8).
       8 Carefully install the strips (8) in the applicable areas of the ceiling-panel (1) and the decompression-panel (2).
NOTE: When you install the new strips (8), the joints of the strips:
  • Should not be in the corners of the installation area
  • Should not be parallel to each other.
       9 Install adhesive tape on each joint of the strips:
         a Measure a distance of a minimum of 10 mm (0.3937 in.) on each end of the strips (8) and make a mark.
         b Install Double Sided Adhesive Tape-Carpet & Furnishing - Legacy (Material No.05PHB9) (10) on each joint of the strips (8) in the area you have made the marks.
     (e) Put the decompression-panel (2) together with the decompression-frame (3) in position in the ceiling-panel (1).
     (f) Put the sheet-assemblies (4) and the decompression-fasteners (5) in position.
     (g) Make sure that the locating-pin of the fastener (5) is correctly installed in the related locating-hole of the frame (3) (see DETAIL "E").
     (h) Install the washers (6) and the nuts (7) but do not tighten the nuts at this time.
     (i) Make sure that the position of the decompression-panel (2) in the ceiling-panel (1) is symmetrical.
     (j) Tighten and TORQUE the nuts (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-11-911-001).

C. Replacement of the Decompression Panels in the Cargo-Compartment Ceiling-Panels
   (1) Remove the decompression panel:
     (a) Remove the nuts (7) and the washers (6).
     (b) Remove the sheet-assemblies (4) and the decompression-fasteners (5).
     (c) Remove the screws (8).
     (d) Carefully remove the decompression-frame (3) and the decompression-panel (2) from the ceiling-panel (1).
   (2) Install the decompression-panel:
CAUTION: DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE WHEN YOU REMOVE THE COVER AS THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE RETAINER.
     (a) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.

     (d) If necessary, install new flame-retardant material
(referred to as the strips):
       1 Remove the remaining strips (9) and the foam-tape (10) from the ceiling-panel (1) and from the decompression-panel (2).
       2 Clean the area where you removed the strips and the foam-tape:
         a Clean the area where you removed the strips and the foam-tape with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
       3 Cut the new Film-Insulation covering - - (Material No.14HQB1) (10) to the necessary length.
       4 Remove the protective foil from the foam-tape (10).
       5 Carefully install the foam-tape (10) in the applicable areas of the ceiling-panel (1) and the decompression-panel (2).
NOTE: The joints of the foam-tape should not be in the corners of the installation area, when you install the new foam-tape (10).
       6 Cut the new Active Fire-Blocking Strip ABS5027C 15-06 (9) to the necessary length.
       7 Remove the protective foil from the strips (9).
       8 Carefully install the strips (9) in the applicable areas of the ceiling-panel (1) and the decompression-panel (2).
NOTE: When you install the new strips (9), the joints of the strips:
  • Should not be in the corners of the installation area
  • Should not be parallel to each other.
       9 Install adhesive tape on each joint of the strips:
         a Measure a distance of a minimum of 10 mm (0.3937 in.) on each end of the strips (9) and make a mark.

     (f) Put the sheet-assemblies (4) and the decompression-fasteners (5) in position.
     (g) Make sure that the locating-pin of the fastener (5) is correctly installed in the related locating-hole of the frame (3) (see DETAIL "E").
     (h) Install the washers (6) and the nuts (7) but do not tighten the nuts at this time.
     (i) Make sure that the position of the decompression-panel (2) in the ceiling-panel (1) is symmetrical.
     (j) Tighten and TORQUE the nuts (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-11-911-001).

C. Replacement of the Decompression Panels in the Cargo-Compartment Ceiling-Panels
   (1) Remove the decompression panel:
     (a) Remove the nuts (7) and the washers (6).

       1 Remove the remaining strips (8) and the foam-tape (9) from the ceiling-panel (1) and from the decompression-panel (2).
       2 Clean the area where you removed the strips and the foam-tape:
         a Clean the area where you removed the strips and the foam-tape with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
       3 Cut the new Film-Insulation covering - - (Material No.14HQB1) (9) to the necessary length.
       4 Remove the protective foil from the foam-tape (9).
       5 Carefully install the foam-tape (9) in the applicable areas of the ceiling-panel (1) and the decompression-panel (2).
NOTE: The joints of the foam-tape should not be in the corners of the installation area, when you install the new foam-tape (9).
       6 Cut the new Active Fire-Blocking Strip ABS5027C 15-06 (8) to the necessary length.
       7 Remove the protective foil from the strips (8).
       8 Carefully install the strips (8) in the applicable areas of the ceiling-panel (1) and the decompression-panel (2).
NOTE: When you install the new strips (8), the joints of the strips:
  • Should not be in the corners of the installation area
  • Should not be parallel to each other.
       9 Install adhesive tape on each joint of the strips:
         a Measure a distance of a minimum of 10 mm (0.3937 in.) on each end of the strips (8) and make a mark.
         b Install Double Sided Adhesive Tape-Carpet & Furnishing - Legacy (Material No.05PHB9) (10) on each joint of the strips (8) in the area you have made the marks.
     (e) Put the decompression-panel (2) together with the decompression-frame (3) in position in the ceiling-panel (1).
     (f) Put the sheet-assemblies (4) and the decompression-fasteners (5) in position.
     (g) Make sure that the locating-pin of the fastener (5) is correctly installed in the related locating-hole of the frame (3) (see DETAIL "E").
     (h) Install the washers (6) and the nuts (7) but do not tighten the nuts at this time.
     (i) Make sure that the position of the decompression-panel (2) in the ceiling-panel (1) is symmetrical.
     (j) Tighten and TORQUE the nuts (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-11-911-001).

C. Replacement of the Decompression Panels in the Cargo-Compartment Ceiling-Panels
   (1) Remove the decompression panel:
     (a) Push the latches (5) of the latch assemblies back into their housings, against the spring-tension.
     (b) Carefully remove the decompression-panel (1) from the ceiling-panel (6).
   (2) Remove the screws (4), and the protection-devices (2) and (3) from the ceiling-panel (6).
   (3) Disassemble the decompression panel:
     (a) Remove the screws (8), the washers (9) and the frame assembly (7).
     (b) Remove the screws (11) and the latch assemblies (10).
   (4) Assemble the decompression panel:
     (a) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
     (b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (d) If necessary, install new foam-tape:
       1 Remove the remaining foam-tape (12).
       2 Clean the area where you removed the foam-tape:
         a Clean the area where you removed the foam-tape (12) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
       3 Cut the new Film-Insulation covering - - (Material No.14HQB1) (12) to the required shape and length.
       4 Remove the protective foil from the foam-tape (12).
       5 Measure a distance of 3.0 mm (0.12 in.) from the edge of the panel-frame to the area where you install the foam tape (12) and make a mark (see DETAIL "F-F").
       6 Carefully install the foam-tape (12) in the applicable areas of the decompression-panel (1).
       7 Make sure that the distance between the foam-tape (12) and the edge of the panel-frame is 3.0 mm (0.12 in.) (see DETAIL "F-F").
     (e) Put the latch assemblies (10) in position on the decompression-panel (1) and install the screws (11).
     (f) TORQUE the screws (11) to between 0.22 and 0.18 m.daN (19.47 and 15.93 lbf.in ) T.
     (g) Make sure that the latches of the latch assemblies (10) move freely in their housings.
     (h) Put the frame assembly (7) in position on the decompression-panel (1) and make sure that the flame-retardant material is in the correct position.
     (i) Install the washers (9) and the screws (8).
   (5) Put the protection-devices (2) and (3) in position on the ceiling-panel (6), and install the screws (4).
   (6) Install the decompression panel:
     (a) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (b) Make sure that the decompression panel (1) is clean and in the correct condition.
     (c) Put the decompression-panel (1) in position on the ceiling-panel (6) and install it.
NOTE: Use a stable force over the full surface of the decompression panel (1) when you push the decompression panel in the related opening of the ceiling panel (6).
     (d) Make sure that the flame-retardant material is in its correct position between the decompression-panel (1) and the ceiling-panel (6), and that:
  • the flame-retardant material is not in position between the foam tape (12) and the ceiling panel (6) (see DETAIL "C-C").

  • the flame-retardant material seals the ceiling-panel (6) tightly (see DETAIL "C-C").

  • the flame-retardant material does not cause a blockage of the latches of the latch assemblies (see DETAIL "D-D").
     (e) Make sure that the position of the decompression panel (1) in the ceiling panel (6) is symmetrical.
     (f) Make sure that all latches (5) of the latch-assemblies are locked.

NOTE: Use a stable force over the full surface of the decompression panel (1) when you push the decompression panel in the related opening of the ceiling panel (6).
     (d) Make sure that the flame-retardant material is in its correct position between the decompression-panel (1) and the ceiling-panel (6), and that:
  • the flame-retardant material is not in position between the foam tape (12) and the ceiling panel (6) (see DETAIL "C-C").

  • the flame-retardant material seals the ceiling-panel (6) tightly (see DETAIL "C-C").

  • the flame-retardant material does not cause a blockage of the latches of the latch assemblies (see DETAIL "D-D").
     (e) Make sure that the position of the decompression panel (1) in the ceiling panel (6) is symmetrical.

   (3) Disassemble the decompression panel:

   (4) Assemble the decompression panel:
     (a) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
     (b) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (d) Put the latch assemblies (9) in position on the decompression panel (5).
     (e) Put the clamp (8) in position, and install the washers (7) and the screws (6).
   (5) Install the decompression-panel:
     (a) Make sure that the decompression-panel (5) is clean and in the correct condition.
     (b) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Put the seal (10) in position on the decompression panel (5).
     (d) Put the decompression-panel (5) in position in the partition (3) and install it.
NOTE: Use a stable force over the full surface of the decompression panel (1) when you push the decompression panel in the related opening of the ceiling panel (6).
   (6) Put the protective panel (1) in position on the partition (3) and install the screws (2).

     (g) Make sure that the position of the decompression panel (2) in the partition (1) is symmetrical.

     (g) Make sure that the position of the decompression panel (2) in the partition (1) is symmetrical.
     (h) TORQUE the nuts (4) to between 2.80 and 2.20 m.N (24.78 and 19.47 lbf.in ) T.

F. Replacement of the Pressure Equalization Valves
NOTE: The related partition wall is removed for this procedure. Two persons are necessary.
   (1) Remove the pressure equalization valve:
     (a) On the rear side of the partition wall (1), hold the housing (2).
     (b) On the front side of the partition wall (1), remove the screws (5) and the grid (4).
     (c) On the rear side of the partition wall (1), remove the housing (2) and the silicone ring (3).
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (5) Install the pressure equalization valve:
     (a) On the rear side of the partition wall (1), hold the silicone ring (3) and the housing (2) in position.
     (b) On the front side of the partition wall (1), put the grid (4) in position and install the screws (5).
     (c) Tighten the screws (5).
