C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) In the cockpit, on the overhead panel, on the ELEC section of panel 35VU, make sure that the GALLEY or GALY & CAB pushbutton switch (2XA) is pushed (the OFF legend is off).
   (2) On the galley control panel, make sure that the related circuit breaker(s) of the water boiler/heater is (are) closed.
   (3) Pressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 25-35-00-710-074-M ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Do the Operational Test of the Water-Heater
   (1) Use a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) to collect the water from the water faucet during this test.

ACTION
RESULT
1.At the galley:
  • Close the potable water shut off valve.

2.On the water-heater:
  • Open the hot water faucet until waterflow stops.
  • Close the hot water faucet.

3.On the water-heater:
  • Push the ON/OFF pushbutton to the on position.
On the water-heater:
  • The ON/OFF indicator comes on.
  • The NO WATER indicator comes on.
4.At the galley:
  • Open the potable water shut off valve.

5.On the water-heater:
  • Open the hot water faucet to bleed air from the tank until water comes from the faucet.
  • Close the hot water faucet.
On the water-heater:
  • The unit fills with water.
  • The NO WATER indicator goes off until the tank is full.
  • Let the unit operate for approx. 10 min.
  • The READY indicator comes on.
  • Open the hot water faucet to empty the water-heater tank.
  • The READY indicator goes off.
  • Close the hot water faucet.
  • The unit fills with water.
  • After a short time, the READY indicator comes on.
  • Push the ON/OFF pushbutton to the off position.
  • All indicators go off.

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU OPERATE GALLEY EQUIPMENT WITH HOT WATER OR STEAM. HOT WATER AND STEAM ARE DANGEROUS AND CAN BURN YOU.
A. Operational Test of the Water Boiler/Heater

   (1) Use the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) to collect the water from the hot water faucet and the drain outlet during the test.
NOTE: If the master switch is not installed on the galley control panel, the ON/OFF indicator light comes on (or goes off) automatically when the related circuit breaker(s) is (are) closed (or open).

ACTION
RESULT
1.On the galley control panel:
  • If the master switch is installed, set it to the ON position.
On the water boiler/heater:
  • The ON/OFF indicator light comes on and flashes slowly.
2.At the galley:
  • Close the potable-water shutoff valve.

3.On the water boiler/heater:
  • Open the drain outlet and drain the water from the water tank.
On the water boiler/heater:
  • Water flows from the drain outlet.
  • After a short time, the water flow from the drain outlet stops.
  • Close the drain outlet.

4.On the water boiler/heater:
  • Push the ON/OFF pushbutton switch.
On the water boiler/heater:
  • The water boiler/heater starts a self-test.
  • You can hear a sound.
  • The WATER IS HOT and FAIL/NO WATER indicator lights come on for some time and then go off.
  • During the self-test, the ON/OFF indicator light flashes quickly.
  • After the self-test, the ON/OFF indicator light stays on.
  • The FAIL/NO WATER indicator light comes on.
5.At the galley:
  • Open the potable-water shutoff valve.

6.On the water boiler/heater:
  • Open the hot water faucet and bleed the air from the water tank.
On the water boiler/heater:
  • Water flows into the water tank.
  • When the water is at the set level in the water tank, the FAIL/NO WATER indicator light goes off.
  • After a short time, water flows from the hot water faucet.
  • Close the hot water faucet.
  • The water flow from the hot water faucet stops.
  • The water boiler/heater operates.
  • When the water is at the set temperature in the water tank, the WATER IS HOT indicator light comes on.
7.On the water boiler/heater:
  • Push the ON/OFF pushbutton switch.
On the water boiler/heater:
  • The WATER IS HOT indicator light goes off.
  • The ON/OFF indicator light flashes slowly.
8.On the galley control panel:
  • If the master switch is installed, set it to the OFF position.
On the water boiler/heater:
  • The ON/OFF indicator light goes off.

1.At the galley:
  • Close the potable-water shutoff valve.

2.On the water boiler/heater:
  • Open the water faucet until the water flow stops.
  • Close the water faucet.

3.On the water boiler/heater:
  • Push the POWER pushbutton switch.
On the water boiler/heater:
  • The POWER pushbutton indicator-light comes on and stays on.
  • The LOW WATER indicator-light comes on and stays on.
  • The READY indicator light does not come on.
  • The water boiler/heater does not operate.
4.At the galley:
  • Open the potable-water shutoff valve.

5.On the water boiler/heater:
  • Open the water faucet to bleed the air from the water tank until water flows from the water faucet.
On the water boiler/heater:
  • Water flows into the water tank.
  • Close the water faucet.
  • The water flow from the water faucet stops.
  • The LOW WATER indicator-light goes off when the water tank is full.
  • The water boiler/heater operates.
  • When the water temperature is at a set level, the READY indicator light comes on.
6.On the water boiler/heater:
  • Open the water faucet to drain the water from the water boiler/heater tank.
On the water boiler/heater:
  • The READY indicator light goes off.
  • The LOW WATER indicator-light comes on.
  • Close the water faucet.
  • Water flows into the water tank.
  • The LOW WATER indicator-light goes off when the water tank is full.
  • Push the POWER pushbutton switch.
  • The POWER pushbutton indicator-light goes off.

2.On the water boiler/heater:
  • Open the hot water faucet until the water flow stops.
  • Close the hot water faucet.

3.At the galley control panel:
  • Set the main power switch to ON.

4.On the water boiler/heater:
  • Push the ON/OFF pushbutton switch.
On the water boiler/heater:
  • The water boiler/heater starts a self-test.
  • The ON/OFF indicator flashes for approximately 4 seconds.
  • The FAIL/NO WATER indicator comes on.
  • The ON/OFF indicator comes on.
5.At the galley:
  • Open the potable-water shutoff valve.

6.On the water boiler/heater:
  • Open the hot water faucet to bleed air from the tank until water comes from the faucet.
  • Close the hot water faucet.
On the water boiler/heater:
  • The unit fills with water.
  • The FAIL/NO WATER indicator goes off when the tank is full.
  • Let the unit operate for approximately 5 minutes.
  • The WATER IS HOT indicator comes on.
  • Open the hot water faucet to remove the water from the water heater tank.
  • The water temperature is between 86 deg.C (186.80 deg.F) and 92 deg.C (197.60 deg.F).
  • The WATER IS HOT indicator goes off.
  • Close the hot water faucet.
  • The unit fills with water.
  • After a short time, the WATER IS HOT indicator comes on.
  • Push the ON/OFF pushbutton switch.
  • All indicators go off.

A. Do the Operational Test of the Water Heater
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU OPERATE GALLEY EQUIPMENT WITH HOT WATER OR STEAM. HOT WATER AND STEAM ARE DANGEROUS AND CAN BURN YOU.
   (1) This test is applicable for P/N 4360004-81-0018 and 4360004-88-0018.

     (a) Use a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) to collect the water from the faucet during the test.

ACTION
RESULT
1.On the water heater:
  • The green ON/OFF indicator flashes.

  • Set the ON/OFF pushbutton to the ON position.
  • The ON/OFF indicator comes on.
  • The water heater starts a self-test.
  • You hear a sound.
  • All indicators come on.
  • During the self-test the ON/OFF indicator flashes quickly.
  • The FAIL/NO WATER indicator comes on.
NOTE: Errors are not permitted during the self-test.
2.At the galley:
  • Open the potable-water shutoff-valve.
On the water heater:
  • The water heater fills with water.
3.At the galley:
  • Close the potable-water shutoff-valve.
On the water heater:
  • The unit operates and the water becomes hot.
  • When the water in the tank is hot, the WATER IS HOT indicator comes on.
4.On the water heater:
  • Open the hot water faucet to bleed the water from the unit until the water flow stops.
On the water heater:
  • The FAIL/NO WATER indicator comes on.
5.On the water heater:
  • Push the ON/OFF pushbutton.
On the water heater:
  • All indicators go off.
   (2) This test is applicable for P/N 4521-2221-00.
     (a) Use a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) to collect the water from the water faucet during this test.

ACTION
RESULT
1.At the galley:
  • Close the potable-water shutoff valve.

2.On the water heater:
  • Open the hot water faucet until the water flow stops.
  • Close the water faucet.

3.On the water heater:
  • Push the POWER button.
On the water heater:
  • The POWER button light comes on.
  • The LOW WATER indicator light comes on.
  • The READY light does not come on.
  • The water heater does not operate.
4.At the galley:
  • Open the potable-water shutoff valve.

5.On the water heater:
  • Open the hot water faucet to bleed air from the water tank until water comes from the faucet.
  • Close the water faucet.
On the water heater:
  • Water flows into the water tank.
  • The LOW WATER indicator light goes off when the water tank is full.
  • After a short time, the READY light comes on.
  • The water heater operates.
  • The water has a temperature between 82 deg.C (179.60 deg.F) and 91 deg.C (195.80 deg.F).
6.On the water heater:
  • Open the water faucet to drain water from the water heater.
On the water heater:
  • The READY light goes off.
  • The LOW WATER indicator comes on.
  • Close the water faucet.
  • Water flows into the water tank.
  • The LOW WATER indicator light goes off when the water tank is full.
  • Push the POWER button.
On the water heater:
  • The POWER button light goes off.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Put the related circuit breaker(s) and switch(es) back to their initial configuration.
   (2) Make sure that the water boiler/heater is in its initial configuration.
   (3) If necessary, depressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002).
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

A. Close Access
   (1) Put the related circuit breaker(s) and the switch(es) to their initial configuration.
   (2) Make sure that the water heater is in its initial configuration.
   (3) Depressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002).
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
