A. Operational Test of the AC Essential-Generation Switching
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the ECAM control panel:
  • Push the ELEC key.
On the ECAM DU, on the "ELEC" page:
  • A green line comes into view between the AC1 and AC ESS busbars. This shows that the AC1 busbar energizes the AC ESS busbar.
2.On AC power center 123VU:
  • Open circuit breaker 1XC.
On F/O glareshield panel 130VU:
  • The MASTER legend light of the F/O master-caution pushbutton-switch comes on.

    On CAPT glareshield panel 131VU:
  • If the CAUT legend light of the CAPT master-caution pushbutton-switch comes on, ignore it.

You can hear the single chime.

These indications come into view on the ECAM DU:
  • "ELEC AC ESS BUS FAULT", and
  • "AC ESS FEED…….ALTN".
NOTE: During this test, the upper ECAM will not be available. If the lower ECAM is not serviceable (MEL condition), it is necessary to set the ECAM/ND XFR selector switch to the F/O position to get the EWD on the ND DU. The "ECAM" page is shown on the F/O ND DU. The single display mode is used because there is only one DU available for all the ECAM functions.

On ELEC panel 35VU:
  • The FAULT legend of the AC ESS FEED pushbutton switch comes on.
3.On rear circuit-breaker panel 122VU:
  • Open circuit breaker 17XN1.
  • Wait for 3 seconds to let the auto switching system set on.
On ELEC panel 35VU:
  • The FAULT legend of the AC ESS FEED pushbutton switch goes off.
  • The ALTN legend of the AC ESS FEED pushbutton switch stays off.
4.On the ECAM control panel:
  • Push the ELEC key.
On the ECAM DU, on the "ELEC" page:
  • A green line comes into view between the AC2 and AC ESS busbars. This shows that the AC2 busbar energizes the AC ESS busbar.
  • The green line between the AC1 and AC ESS busbars goes out of view.
NOTE: During this test, if the ELEC key of the ECAM control panel does not operate (but the ALL and CLEAR keys do) and the "DC ESS LOSS" indication comes into view, the loss of the DC ESS busbar is a possible cause of this failure TSM 24-35-00-810-810.

5.On the EMER ELEC PWR section of panel 21VU:
  • Lift the safety guard.
  • Push and hold the EMER GEN TEST pushbutton switch.
On the ECAM DU, on the "ELEC" page:
  • The AC2 busbar energizes the AC ESS busbar.
6.On AC power-center 123VU:
  • Close circuit breaker 1XC.

7.On rear circuit-breaker panel 122VU:
  • Close circuit breaker 17XN1.
On the ECAM DU, on the "ELEC" page:
  • The AC2 busbar continues to supply the AC ESS busbar.
8.On the EMER ELEC PWR section of panel 21VU:
  • Release the EMER GEN TEST pushbutton switch.
On the EMER ELEC PWR section of panel 21VU:
  • Make sure that the safety guard goes back to its initial position.

On the ECAM DU, on the "ELEC" page:
  • The green line between the AC2 and the AC ESS busbars goes out of view.
  • The green line between the AC1 and the AC ESS busbars comes into view. This shows that the AC1 busbar energizes the AC ESS busbar.
