B. Inspection of the Filter Elements
(2) If you think that the condition of the oil in the filter element or on the filter cover is not correct, do a sampling of the IDG oil for analysis (Ref. AMM TASK 12-32-24-281-001).
(3) If the filter element does not show signs of metal particles, or non-metal, black, fiber-like pieces, do the steps that follow:
(a) If the Differential Pressure Indicator (DPI) is not extended:
(5) If there are bright metal particles, and:
(b) Remove the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-42-000-010) and send it to the overhaul shop.
(c) Remove the IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-010).
(d) Install a new fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-42-400-010) and the clean IDG cooling oil- tubes (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-49-400-041).
(e) Install a new IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-010).
5. Close-upNOTE: This procedure is the same for the two filters.
(1) If you smell fuel in the filter element or on the filter cover, do the servicing of the IDG after the oil chemical contamination (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-00-612-044).
- Install the filter element (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-011).
- Do the alternative procedure, refer to TSM/24.
- The filter element and the O-rings are not damaged (no risk of particles in the external circuit):
(5) If there are bright metal particles, and:
- The filter element or/and the O-rings is (are) damaged (there is a risk of particles in the external circuit), do the steps that follow:
(b) Remove the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-42-000-010) and send it to the overhaul shop.
(c) Remove the IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-010).
(d) Install a new fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-42-400-010) and the clean IDG cooling oil- tubes (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-49-400-041).
