A. Preparation of the Replacement IDG
F Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: IF YOU REPLACE AN IDG P/N 766219 WITH AN IDG P/N 772292, YOU MUST REPLACE QAD P/N 740123 WITH QAD P/N 767669.
   (1) Remove the protective cover from the IDG interface side of the gearbox (6).
   (2) Remove the IDG (1) from the plastic bag.
   (3) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the disconnected line ends.
   (5) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING (15) and (20) from the IDG ports.
   (6) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING (13) and (14) from the IDG overfill drain and pressure fill ports.
   (7) Make sure that the two couplings (17) and (18) have been removed
   (8) Clean the component
     (a) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) to clean these components:
  • the IDG flange on the gearbox (6)
  • the IDG (1) mounting flange
  • the QAD coupling (4).
     (b) Dry the components with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .

B. Installation of the IDG Removal/Installation Tool
   (1) Attach the IDG to the IDG removal/installation tool TMHSD09-60-00 IDG R/I.

   (1) Install new AIPC 24-21-51-81-410 PACKING (2) and AIPC 24-21-51-81-400 PACKING (7) on the IDG (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010)
   (2) Put the QAD coupling (4) in position on the gearbox (6).
   (3) Make sure that the coupling is fully open.
   (4) Turn the QAD coupling (4) until the arrow 'TOP V2500' (3) is at the top center and the OPEN mark (5) is aligned with the adjacent gearbox mark.

F Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE EXTERNAL PARTS TO PULL OR LIFT THE IDG. IF YOU DO SO YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE IDG.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL TO SUPPORT THE IDG CORRECTLY. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INPUT SEAL IF:
  • YOU LIFT THE IDG TOO MUCH
  • YOU DO NOT SUPPORT THE IDG SUFFICIENTLY.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE IDG CORRECTLY. IF NOT YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO MATING PARTS.
CAUTION: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU INSTALL THE IDG ON THE ACCESSORY GEARBOX. THIS WILL HELP TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ADJACENT ENGINE PARTS.
   (1) Put the IDG (1) in position on the gearbox (6).
   (2) Carefully align the IDG drive shaft and the gearbox output shaft.
   (3) Push the IDG (1) forward onto the gearbox (6).
   (4) Make sure that the mounting flanges are correctly aligned.
   (5) Make sure that the two OPEN marks (5) and (8) are aligned.
   (6) Make sure that the IDG (1) is correctly engaged in the QAD coupling (4).
   (7) Tighten the QAD coupling (4) until the IDG flange lugs are fully engaged in the QAD coupling lugs.
   (8) Make sure that the QAD coupling turns easily and does not catch.
   (9) TORQUE the QAD coupling (4) to between 26 and 22 lbf.ft (3.53 and 2.98 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (10) Lightly hit the QAD coupling circumference to center it and make sure that the torque values are correct.
   (11) Do a check of the torque value on the QAD coupling (4).
   (12) Make sure that the torque has not decreased by more than 24 lbf.in (0.27 m.daN) from the torque given in step (9).
   (13) If necessary, do steps (9) thru (12) again.
   (14) Make sure that the torque value of the QAD coupling is between the limits given in step (9).
   (15) Safety the QAD coupling with lockwire (Material No.V02-147) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-012).
   (16) Remove TMHSD09-60-00 IDG R/I.

G. Cleaning of the transferable parts

   (1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) to clean the components:
  • the overfill drain half-coupling (10)

   (1) Installation of the overfill drain half-coupling (10)
     (a) Put a new AIPC 24-21-51-85-050 PACKING (9) on the overfill drain half-coupling (10) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
     (b) Install the overfill drain half-coupling on the IDG (1).
     (c) TORQUE the overfill drain half-coupling to between 305 and 280 lbf.in (3.45 and 3.16 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
     (d) Put the CAP - DUST on the overfill drain half-coupling (10).
   (2) Installation of the pressure fill half-coupling (11)
     (a) Put a new AIPC 24-21-51-85-080 PACKING (12) on the pressure fill half-coupling (11) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
     (b) Install the pressure fill half-coupling on the IDG (1).
     (c) TORQUE the pressure fill half-coupling to between 150 and 120 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.36 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
     (d) Put the CAP - DUST on the pressure fill half-coupling (11).

J. Installation of the Oil-in and Oil-out lines
F Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE CORRECT COUPLINGS ON THE IDG. ON IDG P/N 772292, THE CORRECT COUPLINGS ARE FRH461062 AND FRH461063.
   (1) Lightly lubricate the end fittings on the oil tubes and the couplings with V10-077lubricant (engine oil) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-010).
   (2) Put a new AIPC 24-21-51-85-120 SEAL (16) on the coupling (17) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
   (3) Loosely install the coupling (17) on the IDG (1) and align the temporary marks.
   (4) Put a new AIPC 24-21-51-85-100 SEAL (19) on the coupling (18) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
   (5) Loosely install the coupling (18) on the IDG (1) and align the temporary marks.
   (6) Put the oil inlet tube (52) in the correct position for installation between the tube (50) and the coupling (18).
   (7) Put the oil outlet tube (53) in the correct position for installation between the tube (51) and the coupling (17).
   (8) Hand tighten the two tubes on the connectors.
   (9) At the gearbox bracket (60), align the spacer (61) and the clip (62) and install the bolt (63).
   (10) At the gearbox bracket (60), align the spacer (66) and the clip (65) and install the bolt (64).
   (11) TORQUE the tubes
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE TUBES CANNOT TWIST. DAMAGE TO THE TUBES CAN OCCUR IF THEY DO TWIST.
     (a) Hold the tube (51) and TORQUE the oil outlet tube (53) to between 680 and 620 lbf.in (7.68 and 7.01 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
NOTE: Hold the tubes (51) and (50) when you tighten the connections.
     (b) Hold the tube (50) and TORQUE the oil inlet tube (52) to between 945 and 844 lbf.in (10.68 and 9.54 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (12) Hold the outlet coupling (17) with a wrench and TORQUE the collar to between 350 and 300 lbf.in (3.96 and 3.39 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (13) Hold the inlet coupling (18) with a wrench and TORQUE the collar to between 370 and 320 lbf.in (4.18 and 3.62 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (14) Torque the tubes
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE COUPLINGS DO NOT TWIST. DAMAGE TO THE IDG BOSSES CAN OCCUR IF YOU DO NOT HOLD THE COUPLINGS.
     (a) Hold the oil outlet coupling (17) with a wrench and TORQUE the tube (53) to between 680 and 620 lbf.in (7.68 and 7.01 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
NOTE: Hold the couplings (17) and (18) when you tighten the oil tubes.
     (b) Hold the oil inlet coupling (18) with a wrench and TORQUE the tube (52) to between 945 and 855 lbf.in (10.68 and 9.66 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
Subtask 24-21-51-420-130-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
K. Installation of the two Harness/Tubes
F Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE CLIP POINT 1125 AND CLIP POINT 1124 HOLD THE HARNESS INBOARD OF THE OIL TUBE. DAMAGE CAN OCCUR TO THE HARNESS IF HELD OUTBOARD.
   (1) Remove the temporary ties from the two harness/tube assemblies.
   (2) Install the harness and tube at position D.
     (a) Align the clip (56) with the support clip (57).
     (b) Make sure that two harness/tube assemblies are loose, have no tension and are away from or adjacent components and the structure.
     (c) Install the bolt (58), washer(s) (55) and the nut (54).
   (3) Install the harness and the tube at position E.
     (a) Align the clip (69) with the support clip (70).
     (b) Make sure that two harness/tube assemblies are loose, have no tension and are away from or adjacent components and the structure.
     (c) Install the bolt (71), washer(s) (68) and the nut (67).
   (4) Install the harness and the tube at position F.
     (a) Align the clip (74) with the support clip (75)
     (b) Make sure that two harness/tube assemblies are loose, have no tension and are away from or adjacent components and the structure.
     (c) Install the bolt (76), washer(s) (73) and the nut (72).
   (5) Install the harness and tube at position G.
     (a) Align the clip (79) with the lug.
     (b) Make sure that two harness/tube assemblies are loose, have no tension and are away from or adjacent components and the structure.
     (c) Install the bolt (77), washer (78) (if applicable) and the nut (80).

L. Installation of the Phase Leads and Electrical Connectors (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-15-912-010) to the IDG
F Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: IF THE WASHERS ARE NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY THE TERMINAL BLOCK CAN BECOME HOT AND BURN.
   (1) Remove the temporary ties from the four phase cables (39) and the three electrical connectors (38).
   (2) Put the four phase cables (39) in the correct position for installation on the terminal block (37).
   (3) Install the four captive washer nuts (34).
   (4) TORQUE the nuts (34) to between 14 and 12 lbf.ft (1.90 and 1.63 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (5) Put the cover (31) in the correct position for installation on the terminal block (37).
   (6) Install the washers (32) and the bolts (33).
   (7) TORQUE the bolts (33) to between 22 and 20 lbf.in (0.25 and 0.23 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (8) Make sure that the three electrical connectors (38) are clean.
   (9) Connect the three electrical connectors (38) to the IDG.

M. Filling of the IDG
   (1) Fill the IDG with oil (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-24-612-011).

P. Operational Test of the IDG
   (1) Do an operational test (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-00-720-042). Check the IDG output values.

Q. Check for Oil Leaks and the Electrical Properties
   (1) Start engines 1 and 2 at minimum idle (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-043).
   (2) Make sure that the IDG operates correctly:
On the ECAM control panel, push the ELEC key to get the ELEC page on the lower ECAM DU:
  • Make sure that the voltage is 115 VAC.
  • Make sure that the frequency is 400 Hz plus or minus 5 HZ.
NOTE: If the IDG was removed after an IDG disconnection, do a GCU reset at the first engine start at idle. To do this, on the ELEC control panel 35VU, push, then release the related ELEC/GEN pushbutton switch.
   (3) Do the switching test that follows:

1.On the APU section of the overhead control and indication panel 25VU:
  • Make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released.
On the APU section of the overhead control and indication panel 25VU:
  • The ON legend of the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.
2.On the ELEC control panel 35VU:
  • Release the GEN1 pushbutton switch.
On the ELEC control panel 35VU:
  • The OFF legend of the GEN1 pushbutton switch comes on.
3.Wait for three minutes.


On the lower ECAM DU, on the ELEC page, make sure that there is a green line between:
  • The GEN2 and the AC2 busbar
  • The AC2 and the AC1 busbars, and
  • The AC1 and the AC ESS busbars.
4.On the ELEC control panel 35VU:
  • Push the GEN1 pushbutton switch.
On the ELEC control panel 35VU:
  • The OFF legend of the GEN1 pushbutton switch goes off.
5.On the ELEC control panel 35VU:
  • Release the GEN2 pushbutton switch.
On the ELEC control panel 35VU:
  • The OFF legend of the GEN2 pushbutton switch comes on.
6.Wait for three minutes.


On the lower ECAM DU, on the ELEC page, make sure that there is a green line between:
  • The GEN1 and the AC1 busbar
  • The AC1 and the AC2 busbar, and
  • The AC1 and the AC ESS busbars.
7.Start and operate the APU:
For the GTCP 36-300 (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
For the APS 3200 (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
For the 131-9(A) (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-008)
On the lower ECAM DU, on the ELEC page:
Make sure that there is a green line between:
  • The AC ESS and the AC1 busbars
  • The APU GEN and the AC2 busbar, and
    Make sure that the parameters that follow are corrects:
  • AC LOAD Percent shown in green,
  • AC V = 115 + or - 5V,
  • FRQ HZ = 400 + or - 10HZ.
8.On the ELEC control panel 35VU:
  • Push the GEN2 pushbutton switch.
On the ELEC control panel 35VU:
  • The OFF legend of the GEN2 pushbutton switch goes off.

   (4) Stop engines 1 and 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-018).
   (5) In the cockpit, on the ELEC panel 35VU:
     (a) Make sure that the EXT PWR pushbutton switch is pushed (OFF legend goes off).
   (6) Stop the APU:
For the GTCP 36-300 (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
For the APS 3200 (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
For the 131-9(A) (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-009).
   (7) Make sure that there are no oil leaks:
   (8) Do a check of the oil level at the sight glass of the IDG.

   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
