Removal of the Fuel-Cooled IDG Oil-Cooler
WARNING:
DO NOT LET THE ENGINE FUEL OR OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH FUEL AND OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE FUEL AND OIL ARE POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

A. Draining of the Oil from the Fuel-Cooled IDG Oil-Cooler
(2) Remove the oil drain plug from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler and drain the oil into the CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE.
(3) Remove and discard the sealing ring (1).
Subtask 24-21-42-680-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
DO NOT PUT THE OIL THAT HAS BEEN DRAINED FROM THE ENGINE BACK IN TO THE OIL SYSTEM.
(1) Cut and discard the wire which safeties the oil drain plug (4) to the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler. (2) Remove the oil drain plug from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler and drain the oil into the CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE.
(3) Remove and discard the sealing ring (1).
B. Draining of the Fuel from the Fuel-Cooled IDG Oil-Cooler
(2) Remove the fuel drain plug from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler and drain the fuel into the CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE.
(3) Remove and discard the sealing ring (2).
Subtask 24-21-42-020-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
DO NOT PUT FUEL THAT HAS BEEN DRAINED FROM THE ENGINE BACK IN TO THE FUEL SYSTEM.
(1) Cut and discard the wire which safeties the fuel drain plug (3) to the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler. (2) Remove the fuel drain plug from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler and drain the fuel into the CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE.
(3) Remove and discard the sealing ring (2).
C. Removal of the Fuel-Cooled IDG Oil Cooler Temperature Thermocouple
(1) Remove the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler temperature thermocouple (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-15-000-010).
Subtask 24-21-42-020-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler temperature thermocouple (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-15-000-010).
D. Disconnection of the Clips of the EEC Harness at Positions B, C, D and E
(1) Remove the bolt (12), nut (16) and washer (13) at position B.
(2) Remove the bolt (21), nut (24) and washer (22) at position C.
(3) Remove the bolt (41), nut (43) and washer (46) at position D.
(4) Remove the bolt (31), nut (34) and washer (32) at position E.

(2) Remove the bolt (21), nut (24) and washer (22) at position C.
(3) Remove the bolt (41), nut (43) and washer (46) at position D.

E. Disconnection of the Oil Tubes from the Fuel-Cooled IDG Oil-Cooler
(1) Remove the bolts (67) and disconnect the bracket (65) and the oil tube (64) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
(2) Remove and discard the sealing ring (66).
(3) Remove the bolts (62) and disconnect the bracket (61) and the oil tube (63) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
(4) Remove and discard the sealing ring (60).
Subtask 24-21-42-020-061-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the bolts (67) and disconnect the bracket (65) and the oil tube (64) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
(2) Remove and discard the sealing ring (66).
(3) Remove the bolts (62) and disconnect the bracket (61) and the oil tube (63) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
(4) Remove and discard the sealing ring (60).
F. Disconnection of the Fuel Tubes from the Fuel-Cooled IDG Oil-Cooler
(1) Remove the bolts (53) and disconnect the bracket (52) and the fuel tube (51) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
(2) Remove the bolts (56).
(3) Disconnect the fuel tube (55) and the seal housing (58) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
Subtask 24-21-42-020-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the bolts (53) and disconnect the bracket (52) and the fuel tube (51) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
(2) Remove the bolts (56).
(3) Disconnect the fuel tube (55) and the seal housing (58) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
G. Removal of the Fuel-Cooled IDG Oil-Cooler
(1) Remove the pin (76).
(2) Remove the pin (75).
(4) Remove the bushes (71) and (77) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
Subtask 24-21-42-020-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the pin (76).
(2) Remove the pin (75).
NOTE: Hold the weight of the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler before the pin (75) is removed.
(3) Remove the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler from the fan case. (4) Remove the bushes (71) and (77) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
H. Removal of the Sealing Rings
(1) Remove the sealing ring (54) from the fuel tube (51) and discard it.
(2) Remove the seal housing (58) from the fuel tube (55).
(a) Examine the seal housing (58) for wear (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-49-200-010).
(3) Remove the sealing ring (59) from the seal housing and discard it.
(4) Remove the two sealing rings (57) from the fuel tube (55) and discard them.
(1) Remove the sealing ring (54) from the fuel tube (51) and discard it.
(2) Remove the seal housing (58) from the fuel tube (55).
(a) Examine the seal housing (58) for wear (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-49-200-010).
(3) Remove the sealing ring (59) from the seal housing and discard it.
(4) Remove the two sealing rings (57) from the fuel tube (55) and discard them.
