Removal of the Tubings - IDG Cooling Oil
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.
WARNING:
WEAR GOGGLES, INSULATED GLOVES AND OTHER PROTECTIVE CLOTHES.
HOT OIL CAN BURN YOUR EYES AND SKIN.
IF OIL TOUCHES YOUR EYES OR SKIN, GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

A. Depressurization of the IDG case.
(2) Remove the dust cap from the overflow drain half-coupling.
(3) Connect the overflow drain hose of the FILLING EQUIPMENT - TANK OIL to the overflow drain half-coupling. Oil can come out of the overflow drain hose of the FILLING EQUIPMENT - TANK OIL from the overflow drain half-coupling.
(4) Disconnect the overflow drain hose of the FILLING EQUIPMENT - TANK OIL from the overflow drain half-coupling.
(5) Install the dust cap on the overflow drain half-coupling.
Subtask 24-21-49-020-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST PUT THE DRAIN HOSE INTO A CONTAINER BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE DRAIN HOSE TO THE OVERFLOW DRAIN HALF-COUPLING. MAKE SURE THAT THE DRAIN HOSE HANGS DOWN VERTICALLY AND THE END OF THE HOSE IS ABOVE THE OIL LEVEL IN THE CONTAINER. WHEN YOU CONNECT THE DRAIN HOSE TO THE IDG, YOU RELEASE THE OIL PRESSURE AND OIL WILL SPRAY FROM THE DRAIN HOSE.
(1) Put a CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL) in position under the IDG. (2) Remove the dust cap from the overflow drain half-coupling.
(3) Connect the overflow drain hose of the FILLING EQUIPMENT - TANK OIL to the overflow drain half-coupling. Oil can come out of the overflow drain hose of the FILLING EQUIPMENT - TANK OIL from the overflow drain half-coupling.
(4) Disconnect the overflow drain hose of the FILLING EQUIPMENT - TANK OIL from the overflow drain half-coupling.
(5) Install the dust cap on the overflow drain half-coupling.
B. Removal of the two Harness and Tube Assemblies
(2) Remove the nut (20), washer(s) (21) and bolt (24) from the clip (22) and support clip (23) at position F.
(3) Remove the nut (25), washer(s) (26) and bolt (29) from the clip (27) and support clip (28) at position G.
(4) Remove the nut (34), washer(s) (31) and bolt (30) from the clip (33) and support clip (32) at position H.
(5) Remove the nut (35), washer (37) (if applicable) and bolt (38) from the clip (36) and lug at position J.
Subtask 24-21-49-020-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST PUT THE DRAIN HOSE INTO A CONTAINER BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE DRAIN HOSE TO THE OVERFLOW DRAIN HALF-COUPLING. MAKE SURE THAT THE DRAIN HOSE HANGS DOWN VERTICALLY AND THE END OF THE HOSE IS ABOVE THE OIL LEVEL IN THE CONTAINER. WHEN YOU CONNECT THE DRAIN HOSE TO THE IDG, YOU RELEASE THE OIL PRESSURE AND OIL WILL SPRAY FROM THE DRAIN HOSE.
(1) Put the CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL) below the oil tubes (1) and (2). (2) Remove the nut (20), washer(s) (21) and bolt (24) from the clip (22) and support clip (23) at position F.
(3) Remove the nut (25), washer(s) (26) and bolt (29) from the clip (27) and support clip (28) at position G.
(4) Remove the nut (34), washer(s) (31) and bolt (30) from the clip (33) and support clip (32) at position H.
(5) Remove the nut (35), washer (37) (if applicable) and bolt (38) from the clip (36) and lug at position J.
C. Removal of the Oil Tubes from the IDG
(2) Hold the coupling (3) and disconnect the oil inlet tube (1).
(3) Hold the coupling (4) and disconnect the oil outlet tube (2).
(4) Hold the tube (11), disconnect and remove the oil inlet tube (1).
(5) Hold the tube (12), disconnect and remove the oil outlet tube (2).
(6) Hold the tube (5), disconnect and remove the oil tube (11).
(7) Hold the tube (6), disconnect and remove the oil tube (12).
Subtask 24-21-49-020-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE COUPLINGS DO NOT TWIST. DAMAGE TO THE IDG BOSSES CAN OCCUR IF YOU DO NOT HOLD THE COUPLINGS.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TUBES CANNOT TWIST. DAMAGE TO THE TUBES CAN OCCUR IF THEY DO TWIST.
(1) At the gearbox bracket (13), remove the bolts (15) and (14) and spacers (19) and (18). (2) Hold the coupling (3) and disconnect the oil inlet tube (1).
(3) Hold the coupling (4) and disconnect the oil outlet tube (2).
(4) Hold the tube (11), disconnect and remove the oil inlet tube (1).
(5) Hold the tube (12), disconnect and remove the oil outlet tube (2).
(6) Hold the tube (5), disconnect and remove the oil tube (11).
(7) Hold the tube (6), disconnect and remove the oil tube (12).
D. Removal of the Oil Tubes from the IDG Oil Cooler
(1) Remove the bolts (7) and disconnect the oil tube (5) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
(2) Remove and discard the packing (8).
(3) Remove the bolts (9) and disconnect the oil tube (6) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
(4) Remove and discard the sealing ring (10).
(1) Remove the bolts (7) and disconnect the oil tube (5) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
(2) Remove and discard the packing (8).
(3) Remove the bolts (9) and disconnect the oil tube (6) from the fuel-cooled IDG oil-cooler.
(4) Remove and discard the sealing ring (10).
