A. If the MDDU is not available, you can upload the FM data with the Portable Data Loader (PDL) (Ref. AMM TASK 22-70-00-610-008).

E. Prepare the media disk(s).
(1) Get the media disk(s) from the storage box in the cockpit.

NOTE: It is not mandatory to keep the database media disk(s) in the storage box in the cockpit. Thus, you can keep the database media disk(s) in the storage area.

(2) Make sure that the Part Number(s) (P/N) written on the media disk(s) is(are) the same as the P/N(s) written in the airline configuration management-document.
(a) If the media disk(s) is(are) not available or not the correct one(s), contact your airline engineering department to get the correct part number(s) applicable to the aircraft.

F. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the Multipurpose Control & Display Unit (MCDU):
(a) Adjust the brightness of the MCDU screen.
(b) Push the DATA mode key to get access to the "DATA INDEX" page.
(c) Push the line select key adjacent to the "A/C STATUS" indication.
(d) Record the "IDLE/PERF" value (shown adjacent to line select key 6L).
(e) Fully decrease the brightness of the MCDU screen (display off).

G. Check of the P/N(s) of the Software Component(s) (Pre-loaded to the Related FMGC)

NOTE: If the software component(s) that you upload is(are) not correct, the FMGEC will not accept the uploading.

NOTE: If you upload the Flight Management System (FMS) operational-program software-component, it is necessary to upload these software components again:

The navigation database
The airline modifiable-information file
The operational program-configuration file
The performance database
The magnetic variation database.

On the MCDU, if you push the FM mode key, the "NOT ALLOWED" message comes into view on the scratchpad.

Until you upload the software components again
If the FM software component is not compatible with the Flight Guidance (FG) software component.

(1) Do a check of the P/N(s) of the software component(s):

1.On the MCDU: Adjust the brightness of the MCDU screen. Push the DATA mode key.
2.On the MCDU: Push the line select key adjacent to the "A/C STATUS" indication.	On the MCDU: The "A/C STATUS" page comes into view.
3.On the "A/C STATUS" page: Push the line select key adjacent to the "SOFTWARE STATUS/XLOAD" indication.	On the MCDU: The "P/N STATUS" page comes into view.
4.Make sure that these software components are in the FMGEC: The FM operational software-component with the FMS operational program-disk (1CAMD3) or the FMS operational-program CD-ROM (1CAMD7) (Page 2: FMS SOFTWARE) NOTE: If the FMS software component is not compatible with the FG software component, the "INCOMPATIBLE" message comes into view on the MCDU screen. The navigation database with the active nav database-disk (the navigation database changes at intervals of 28 days) (Page 3: NAV DATA BASE) The airline modifiable-information file with the applicable disk (Page 4: FM AIRLINE CONFIG (AMI)) The operational program-configuration file with the FMS option configuration-disk (1CAMD1) or the FMS option-configuration CD-ROM (1CAMD5) (Page 5: FM OPTIONS CONFIG (OPC)) The performance database with the FMS performance database-disk (1CAMD2) or the FMS performance-database CD-ROM (1CAMD6) (Page 6: PERF DATA BASE) The magnetic variation database with the applicable disk (1CAMD4) or the FMS magnetic-variation database CD-ROM (1CAMD8) (Page 7: MAG VAR DATA BASE).
5.Before you do the uploading procedure, on the "P/N STATUS" page: Read the P/N of the software component that you want to upload. Make sure that this P/N is not the same as the P/N written on the media disk. NOTE: If the P/N is the same, the uploading is not necessary.

4. Procedure
Subtask 22-70-00-970-068-H ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Uploading of the FM Data to FMGC1(2)

NOTE: When you use the Centralized Data Loading Connector (CDLC), you can do the uploading procedure at low or high speed.

NOTE: It is not possible to upload the FM data to FMGC2 with the high speed dataloading.

(1) Make sure that FMGC1 or FMGC2 is selected on the Data Loading Selector (DLS).
(2) Upload the FM data to FMGC1(2) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-38-00-610-804).

NOTE: The uploading time for one full media disk is approximately 10 minutes.

(3) To upload FMGC2, use the crossload function (Ref. AMM TASK 22-70-00-610-009).
(4) To do the crossloading procedure, ignore the crossloading prompt on the "P/N STATUS" page of MCDU1(2). Wait until the FMGC1(2) crossloading prompt comes into view on the "P/N STATUS" page of MCDU1(2).

NOTE: The FMGC1(2) crossloading prompt comes into view only if all the mandatory software components (FMS software component, navigation database, FMS options-configuration software-component, performance database and magnetic variation database) are uploaded.

(5) After the uploading, do a check of the P/N of the data uploaded to the FMGC, on the MCDU.

Subtask 22-70-00-280-069-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

B. Do a check of the P/N(s) of the software component(s) uploaded to the FMGC, on the MCDU:
(1) Do a reset of FMGC1 and FMGC2 as follows:
(a) Open circuit breakers 10CA1 and 10CA2 for more than 15 seconds.
(b) Close circuit breakers 10CA1 and 10CA2 and wait until the FMGC safety test is completed.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE SOFTWARE INSTALLED AGREES WITH THE AIRLINE CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT DOCUMENT. THE SYSTEM OPERATIONAL TEST OR BITE TEST DOES NOT DETECT INCORRECT SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION.

(2) Make sure that the "P/N XLOAD" page is shown on the MCDU:

2.On the "A/C STATUS" page: Push the line select key adjacent to the "SOFTWARE STATUS/XLOAD" indication.	On the MCDU: The "P/N STATUS" page comes into view.
3.On the "P/N STATUS" page: Get access to the page related to the uploaded software component (use the line select key adjacent to the "NEXT PAGE" or "PREV PAGE" indication).
4.Do the operational test of the Automatic Flight System (AFS) only after the uploading of the FMS operational-configuration software-component (Ref. AMM TASK 22-96-00-710-001).
5.On the MCDU: Make sure that the P/N shown is the same as the P/N written on the media disk.

C. Check of the P/N(s) of the Software Component(s) (Pre-loaded to the Related FMGC)
(1) Do the steps given in Para. 3. related to the check of the P/N(s) of the software component(s) (pre-loaded to the related FMGC).

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the MCDU:
(a) Adjust the brightness of the MCDU screen.
(b) Push the DATA mode key to get access to the "DATA INDEX" page.
(c) Push the line select key adjacent to the "A/C STATUS" indication.
(d) Make sure that the "IDLF/PERF" value is the same as the value you recorded before the uploading procedure. If it is not, enter "ARM" in the "CHG CODE" line adjacent to line select key 5L.

NOTE: "ARM" is the initial code. You can change it when you enter three other characters in the airline modifiable-information file.

(e) Record the "IDLF/PERF" value in the scratchpad.
(f) Enter this value adjacent to line select key 6L.

5. Close-up
Subtask 22-70-00-860-110-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) On the MCDU, push the MCDU MENU mode key to get access to the "MCDU MENU" page.
(2) Fully decrease the brightness of the MCDU screen (display off).
(3) Put the media disk(s) back into the storage box in the cockpit.

NOTE: It is not mandatory to keep the database media disk(s) in the storage box in the cockpit. Thus, you can keep the database media disk(s) in the storage area.

B. De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
