Onboard Software Uploading Procedure

1. Reason for the Job
This task gives the procedure to upload software from the cockpit.
This task must be used with the specific system-related uploading tasks.

Subtask 31-38-00-480-052-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Installation of the Portable Data Loader (PDL)
   (1) On the ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER, make sure that the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position.
   (2) On the overhead panel, loosen the two middle quick-release fasteners of the access cover and remove the access cover from data loading panel 52VU.
   (3) Connect the cable to the ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER and to the data loader connector (2TD).

C. Installation of the Portable Data Loader (PDL)
   (1) On the ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER, make sure that the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position.
   (2) On the center pedestal, loosen the two middle quick-release fasteners of the access cover and remove the access cover from data loading panel 117VU.
   (3) Connect the cable to the ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER and to the data loader connector (2147VC).

C. Installation of the Portable Data Loader (PDL)
   (1) On the YV68A110 PORTABLE DATA LOADER, make sure that the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position.
   (2) Open circuit breakers 10CA1(10CA2) and 11CA1(11CA2).
   (3) On the overhead panel, loosen the two middle quick-release fasteners of the access cover and remove the FMS LOAD blanking plate 52VU
   (4) Connect the cable to the YV68A110 PORTABLE DATA LOADER and to the data loader connector SYST1(2).

C. Installation of the Portable Data Loader (PDL)
   (1) On the ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER, make sure that the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position.
   (2) On the center pedestal, on DATA LOADING panel 117VU:
  • Connect the cable to the ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER and to the data loader connector on the front face of the DLSU (103TD).

   (1) Close circuit breakers 11CA1(11CA2).
   (2) On the portable data loader, set the ON/OFF switch to ON.

   (1) Start the ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER (Refer to the PDL user guide).

A. Uploading of the LRU software with the Multipurpose Disk Drive Unit (MDDU)
ACTION
RESULT
1.Make sure that you have all the necessary media to do the uploading.

2.Open the circuit breaker related to the targeted LRU.

3.On the overhead panel, on the Data Loading Selector (DLS):
  • Set the ON/OFF switch to ON.
On the overhead panel, on the Data Loading Selector (DLS), the indication that follows comes into view:
  • DB/N:XXXXXXXXXX
    PUSH NEXT/PREV
NOTE: The XXXXXXXXXX indication is the current Database Software P/N installed in the DLS.
Default value: '----------'.
On the Multipurpose Disk Drive Unit (MDDU):
  • The < < MDDU READY > > indication comes into view.
4.On the overhead panel, on the DLS:
  • Push the PREV or NEXT key until you get the "LRU_name" indication.
On the display of the DLS, the indication that follows comes into view:
  • LRU_name
    NOT SELECTED
5.On the overhead panel, on the DLS:
  • Push the SEL CTL key.
On the display of the DLS, the indication that follows comes into view:
  • LRU_name
    SELECTED
6.On the MDDU:
  • Put the media disk(s) into the media disk drive.
  • Close the circuit breaker related to the targeted LRU.
On the MDDU:
  • The WAIT RESPONSE indication comes into view.
  • Then the TRANSF IN PROG indication comes into view.

NOTE: If more than one disk is necessary to do the uploading of a same type of data, the EJECT DISK and INSERT NEXT DISK indications are shown one after the other.

NOTE: Each software version has a specified number of disks. It is necessary to load all disks until the loading process is completed.
  • When the uploading is completed, the TRANSF COMPLETE indication comes into view.
7.On the MDDU:
  • Eject the disk from the disk drive.
On the MDDU:
  • The < < MDDU READY > > indication comes into view.
8.Make sure that you uploaded all the necessary software from all the media
9.On the overhead panel, on the DLS:
  • Push the SEL CTL key.
On the display of the DLS, the indication that follows comes into view:
  • LRU_name
    NOT SELECTED
10.On the overhead panel, on the Data Loading Selector (DLS):
  • Set the ON/OFF switch to OFF.

A. Uploading of the Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) software with the PDL
NOTE: If the PDL has the digital signature check, it can give two messages:
  • One message, if the PDL detects that the software has no signature. You can ignore this message because it has no effect on aircraft software uploading, or
  • One message, if the PDL detects an incorrect or corrupted signature. Then, the software uploading will not be possible and you must use a different software.
    For data security, Airbus recommends that you make a report of the fault to the Aircraft Security Focal-Point.

1.Make sure that you have all the necessary media to do the uploading.

2.Open the circuit breaker related to the LRU.
3.On the overhead panel, on the Data Loading Selector (DLS):
  • Set the ON/OFF switch to ON.
On the display of the DLS, the indication that follows comes into view:
  • DB/N:XXXXXXXXXX
    Push the NEXT or the PREV key.
NOTE: The XXXXXXXXXX indication is the Database Software P/N installed in the DLS.
Default value:'----------'.
4.On the overhead panel, on the DLS:
  • Push the PREV or the NEXT key until you get the "LRU_name" indication.
On the display of the DLS, the indication that follows comes into view:
  • LRU_name
    NOT SELECTED
5.On the overhead panel, on the DLS:
  • Push the SEL CTL key.
On the display of the DLS, the indication that follows comes into view:
  • LRU_name
    SELECTED
6.On the PDL:
  • Close the circuit breaker related to the LRU.
  • Start the uploading from the PDL (refer to the PDL user guide for more information).

7.Make sure that you upload the software from all the media.

8.When the uploading is completed, on the overhead panel, on the DLS:
  • Push the SEL CTL key.
On the display of the DLS, the indication that follows comes into view:
  • LRU_name
    NOT SELECTED
9.On the overhead panel, on the DLS:
  • Set the ON/OFF switch to OFF.

A. Uploading of the LRU software with the PDL
ACTION
RESULT
1.Make sure that you have all the necessary media to do the uploading.

2.On the PDL:
  • Put the media disk(s) into the media disk drive.

3.Close circuit breakers 10CA1(10CA2)
On the portable data loader:
  • The WAIT RESPONSE indication comes into view.
  • Then the TRANSF IN PROG indication comes into view.

    Default value: '----------'.
NOTE: The XXXXXXXXXX indication is the P/N of the database software installed in the DLSU.
Default value:'----------'.
4.On the center pedestal, on the DLSU:
  • Push the NEXT key.
The DLSU does self-tests.
5.Make sure that no error message comes into view.
On the display of the DLSU, the indication that follows comes into view:
  • STANDBY
    PUSH PREV/NEXT.
6.On the center pedestal, on the DLSU:
  • Push the PREV or NEXT key until you get the "LRU(FIN)" or "LRU_615A(FIN)" indication.
NOTE: You can upload some LRUs software at low speed only, and some other LRUs software at high speed only. You can upload three LRUs software, FMGC1, ATSU and DMC1, at low and high speed.
NOTE: For the ATSU, FMGC1 and DMC1, you can upload the LRU software at low speed when you select ”LRU(FIN)”, and at high speed when you select ”LRU_615A(FIN)”.
NOTE: For all the other LRUs (those that can upload at low speed and those that can upload at high speed), ”LRU(FIN)” is shown on the display of the DLSU.
On the display of the DLSU, the indication that follows comes into view:
  • LRU(FIN)
    NOT SELECTED
    or
  • LRU_615A(FIN)
    NOT SELECTED.
7.On the center pedestal, on the DLSU:
  • Push the SEL key.
On the display of the DLSU, the indication that follows comes into view:
  • LRU(FIN)
    SELECTED
    or
  • LRU_615A(FIN)
    SELECTED.
NOTE: If no PDL is connected, the indication that follows comes into view:
CONNECT PDL
PUSH SEL.
8.Close the circuit breaker of the applicable LRU.
9.On the PDL:
  • Start the uploading from the PDL (for more information, refer to the PDL user guide).

10.Make sure that you fully upload all the necessary software from all the media disks.

11.When the uploading is completed, on the center pedestal, on the DLSU:
  • Push the SEL key.
On the display of the DLSU, the indication that follows comes into view:
  • LRU(FIN)
    NOT SELECTED
    or
  • LRU_615A(FIN)
    NOT SELECTED.
12.On the center pedestal, on the DLSU:
  • Set the ON/OFF switch to OFF.

NOTE: If no PDL is connected, the indication that follows comes into view:
CONNECT PDL
PUSH SEL.
8.Close the circuit breaker of the applicable LRU.
9.On the PDL:
  • Start the uploading from the PDL (for more information, refer to the PDL user guide).

10.Make sure that you fully upload all the necessary software from all the media.

11.When the uploading is completed, on the center pedestal, on the DLSU:
  • Push the SEL key.
On the display of the DLSU, the indication that follows comes into view:
  • LRU(FIN)
    NOT SELECTED
    or
  • LRU_615A(FIN)
    NOT SELECTED.
12.On the center pedestal, on the DLSU:
  • Set the ON/OFF switch to OFF.

B. End of the Uploading Procedure
   (1) Stop the ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER (refer to the PDL user guide).
   (2) Remove the PDL:
     (a) On the overhead panel, on data loading panel 52VU:
       1 Disconnect the PDL cable from the PDL and from the data loader connector (2TD).
       2 Install the access cover of data loading panel 52VU and tighten the two middle quick-release fasteners.

B. End of the Uploading Procedure
   (1) Stop the ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER (refer to the PDL user guide).
   (2) Remove the PDL:
     (a) On the overhead panel, on data loading panel 117VU:
       1 Disconnect the PDL cable from the PDL and from the data loader connector (2147VC).
       2 Install the access cover of data loading panel 117VU and tighten the two middle quick-release fasteners.

B. End of the Uploading Procedure
   (1) On the YV68A110 PORTABLE DATA LOADER, set the ON/OFF switch to OFF.
   (2) Open circuit breakers 10CA1(10CA2) and 11CA1(11CA2).
   (3) Disconnect the PDL connecting cable.
   (4) On the overhead panel install the FMS LOAD blanking plate.
   (5) Close circuit breakers 10CA1(10CA2) and 11CA1(11CA2) and wait for 1 minute

B. End of the Uploading Procedure
   (1) Stop the ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER (Refer to PDL user guide).
   (2) On the center pedestal, on Data Loading panel 117VU:
  • Disconnect the PDL cable from the PDL and from the front face of the DLSU (103TD)
