A. Resistance Measurement Test Types
   (1) To do a check of the resistance between the component and the structure:
     (a) For components that contain fluids or gas and are installed in or out of an explosive atmosphere:
     (b) For other components that do not contain fluids or gas and are not installed on composite materials:
1 If installed in or out of an explosive atmosphere:
2 Or if installed out of an explosive atmosphere:
   (2) For components installed on composite materials, use the applicable procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-720-008).
   (3) To do a check of the resistance between an external composite panel and the structure:
     (a) For the composite panels and antenna fairing with or without non-conductive finish paint, use the applicable procedure:
     (b) For an antenna fairing without non-conductive finish paint, use the applicable procedure (not applicable to nose radome):
NOTE: If the finish paint is applied on a panel or an antenna fairing, the measurement of the resistance is only possible with the resistivity-test set.
     (c) For a nose radome with or without non-conductive finish paint, use the applicable procedure:
     (d) Use the applicable procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-720-802) for the check of the electrical bonding of external composite panels from a dimple washer with a milliohmmeter.
Airbus recommends to measure the resistance with a resistivity-test set.
You can measure the resistance from a dimple washer with a milliohmmeter:
  • If you cannot use the resistivity-test set probe on the panel because of the panel shape, or
  • If it is not possible to measure the resistance with a resistivity-test set.
   (4) For a surface resistance check on an external composite panel:
NOTE: The measurement of the surface electrical resistance is not necessary, if the panels are installed subsequently to their removal without modifications or repairs.
     (a) Without non-conductive finish paint on the antistatic paint, use the applicable procedure:
     (b) With non-conductive finish paint on the antistatic paint, use the applicable procedure:
   (5) For a check of the aircraft electrical grounding, use the applicable procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-720-012).
NOTE: This procedure is used to measure the resistance between the ground and a landing gear leg.
   (6) For a check of the electrical harness shielding or braid with a loop impedance tester, use the applicable procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-720-014).

A. Instructions Related to the Maximum-Resistance Value Table
   (1) The tables from 1 to 15 give the maximum bonding resistance values for the components installed on the external surface of the aircraft or in the aircraft (pressurized or non-pressurized area).
NOTE: To find the applicable maximum resistance value of the bonded component, find the main location (column) and related system (row) from the illustration table.
The applicable location/system intersection gives the correct number of the resistance value table (from 1 to 15).
The measurement is done between each component specified in the table and the main adjacent structure.
NOTE: Some exceptions are given in tables 1 to 15.
   (2) Specific table 16 gives the maximum resistance values for electromagnetic protection boxes and shielding conduits.
The measurement is done between each component specified in the table and the main adjacent structure with a milliohmmeter or with a loop tester.
   (3) Specific table 17 gives the maximum resistance values for primary and secondary grounding points.
Table 17 is only applicable to bonding points.
The measurement is done on the lug that is connected to the structure, with:
   (4) Specific table 18 gives the maximum resistance value applicable for an aircraft ground check.
The measurement is done between a metallic plate under the tires and the aircraft main metallic-structure.
   (5) Specific table 19 gives the maximum resistance values for the primary structure (applicable after a structural repair).
The measurement is done between each component specified in the table and Frame 1.

B. Tables from 1 to 15 for Components and Surfaces
F Look-Up Table ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
Do the measurement between the component and the main adjacent structure (except specified on the tables).
NOTE: * 100 milliohms for stainless steel or titanium material.
NOTE: ** Airbus recommends to measure the resistance with a resistivity-test set. If it is not possible, you can do the measurement with a milliohmmeter from a dimple washer.
