Check of the Electrical Bonding of an External Composite Panel from a Dimple Washer with a Milliohmmeter
1. Reason for the Job
This procedure is an alternative method to measure the electrical bonding of an external composite panel from a dimple washer with a milliohmmeter.
This method is recommended only:
- If you cannot measure the resistance with the round probe of the resistivity tool set because of the panel shape,
Or - If it is not possible to measure the resistance with a resistivity test set.

A. General
(1) The recommended procedure for the check of the electrical bonding of an external composite panel (with or without non-conductive finish paint), uses a resistivity test set (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-720-010).

A. Measurement of the Electrical Resistance
(a) Use a MILLIOHMMETER MULTIRANGE, with the applicable leads and prods:
1 Output test current: 1 ampere.
2 Range : Set the milliohmmeter range to a value that is higher than 150 milliohms.
3 Accuracy: Better than +/- 10 % of the measured value.
(2) Remove the screw from the dimple washer.
(3) Put one probe on the dimple washer.
(4) Put the other probe on the adjacent primary structure.
(5) Measure the resistance value.
(6) Make sure that the measured values are not higher than the maximum permitted resistance-values (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-869-002).
(7) Remove the test equipment.
(8) Install the screw on the dimple washer.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT OR THE STRUCTURE WHEN YOU USE SHARP-POINT PRODS.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TEST EQUIPMENT IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED BEFORE YOU MEASURE THE BONDING VALUES.
