WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE THE OIL TANK CAP FOR A MINIMUM OF FIVE MINUTES AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN. THIS WILL LET THE PRESSURE DECREASE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, OIL CAN SPRAY ON YOU WHEN YOU REMOVE THE OIL CAP.

Use this procedure to remove the oil tank. For more information about the oil tank, refer to 79-11-00 OIL STORAGE SYSTEM - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring and to stop the electrical supply to the Electronic Engine Control (EEC)
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-832).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Put an STEPLADDER 0.5 M (1.6 FT) in position.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

A. Drain the Oil
   (1) Find the oil tank (1) located approximately at the 10 o'clock position attached to the fan case.
   (2) Drain the oil (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-680-801).

B. Remove the Oil Debris Monitoring (ODM) sensor (Ref. AMM TASK 79-35-21-000-801).

C. Removal of the Oil Tank
   (1) Removal of the protection cover.
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Disconnect the wiring harness (W03) connector (P41) from the oil quantity sensor with the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
   (3) Remove the scupper drain tube (upper) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-49-000-801).
   (4) Remove the tube (LB03) from the oil tank (1) as follows:
     (a) Remove the wiring harness (W03) from the bracket (5).
     (b) Remove the three bolts (6) and the bracket (5).
     (c) Remove and discard the packing (7).
   (5) Remove the tube (LP01) from the oil tank (1) as follows:
     (a) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) under the oil tank (1).
     (b) Remove the three bolts (20) from the tube (LP01).
     (c) Remove and discard the face seal (21).
   (6) Remove the oil tank (1) from the fan case as follows:
     (a) Remove the three bolts (2), washers (3), and nuts (4), from the connecting links.
     (b) Remove the four bolts (18), two pins (17), and two pins (19) from the connecting links.
     (c) Remove the oil tank (1).
   (7) Remove the oil quantity sensor, if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 79-31-21-000-801).
   (8) If necessary, remove the oil tank cap (Ref. AMM TASK 79-11-02-000-801).
   (9) Installation of the protection covers.
CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
     (a) Make sure that you install all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
