C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access

(1) Install the closure assist hook fitting (13):
(a) Install the closure assist hook fitting (13) on the latch beam with the two pins (14), the two washers (12) and the two nuts (11). Wet install the two pins (14) with the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) .
(b) TORQUE the nuts (11) to between 90 and 75 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.85 m.daN )

(2) Install the closure assist hook fitting (15):
(a) Install the closure assist hook fitting (15) on the latch beam with the two pins (14), the two washers (12) and the two nuts (11). Wet install the two pins (14) with the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) .
(b) TORQUE the nuts (11) to between 90 and 75 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.85 m.daN )

(3) Install the closure assist fitting (7):
(a) Clean the faying surfaces of the closure assist fitting (7) and the latch beam withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
(b) Clean the faying surfaces with a clean, dry cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl dries.
(c) Apply a layer of approximately 0.003 in. (0.076 mm) - 0.006 in. (0.152 mm) thick of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) to the faying surface of the closure assist fitting (7).
(e) TORQUE the nuts (9) to between 90 and 75 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.85 m.daN )

(f) Make sure that the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) squeezed out from below all of the edges of the closure assist fitting (7):
1 Fair the sealant along the edges of the closure assist fitting (7) to a height of approximately 0.120 in. (3.05 mm).
2 Clean the unwanted sealant from the latch beam withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
3 Do not getPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl in the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) below the closure assist fitting (7).
(g) Install latches 1A and 1B on the latch beam (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-35-400-801).
(4) Install the closure assist assembly (1):
(a) Put the closure assist assembly (1) in position on the thrust reverser.
1 Align the rod end with the closure assist fitting (7).
(b) Attach the closure assist assembly (1) to the closure assist fitting (7).
1 Use the bolt (2), the two washers (3), the bushing (4), the bushing (6) and the nut (5).
(c) TORQUE the nut (5) to between 270 and 240 lbf.in (3.05 and 2.71 m.daN )

(d) Move the closure assist assembly (1) and put the other rod end of the closure assist assembly (1) into the stow bracket.
(e) Close the clip assembly on the stow bracket.

(1) Install the closure assist hook fitting (13):
(a) Install the closure assist hook fitting (13) on the latch beam with the two pins (14), the two washers (12) and the two nuts (11). Wet install the two pins (14) with the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) .
(b) TORQUE the nuts (11) to between 90 and 75 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.85 m.daN )

(2) Install the closure assist hook fitting (15):
(a) Install the closure assist hook fitting (15) on the latch beam with the two pins (14), the two washers (12) and the two nuts (11). Wet install the two pins (14) with the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) .
(b) TORQUE the nuts (11) to between 90 and 75 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.85 m.daN )

(3) Install the closure assist fitting (7):
(a) Clean the faying surfaces of the closure assist fitting (7) and the latch beam with
(b) Clean the faying surfaces with a clean, dry cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the
(c) Apply a layer of approximately 0.003 in. (0.076 mm) - 0.006 in. (0.152 mm) thick of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) to the faying surface of the closure assist fitting (7).
NOTE: If necessary, apply a small bead of the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) near the edge of the closure assist fitting (7). This will help make sure that some of the sealant will squeeze out from below the closure assist fitting (7).
(d) Install the closure assist fitting (7) on the latch beam with the two pins (10), the two washers (8) and the two nuts (9). Wet install the fasteners with the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) .(e) TORQUE the nuts (9) to between 90 and 75 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.85 m.daN )
.(f) Make sure that the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) squeezed out from below all of the edges of the closure assist fitting (7):
1 Fair the sealant along the edges of the closure assist fitting (7) to a height of approximately 0.120 in. (3.05 mm).

(g) Install latches 1A and 1B on the latch beam (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-35-400-801).
(4) Install the closure assist assembly (1):
(a) Put the closure assist assembly (1) in position on the thrust reverser.
1 Align the rod end with the closure assist fitting (7).
(b) Attach the closure assist assembly (1) to the closure assist fitting (7).
1 Use the bolt (2), the two washers (3), the bushing (4), the bushing (6) and the nut (5).
(c) TORQUE the nut (5) to between 270 and 240 lbf.in (3.05 and 2.71 m.daN )
.(d) Move the closure assist assembly (1) and put the other rod end of the closure assist assembly (1) into the stow bracket.
(e) Close the clip assembly on the stow bracket.
CAUTION:
PUT THE CLOSURE ASSIST FITTING IN ITS STOWED POSITION WHEN THE CLOSURE ASSIST ASSEMBLY IS NOT IN USE. IF YOU LET THE CLOSURE ASSIST FITTING HANG, OTHER COMPONENTS CAN HIT IT AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO IT.
