3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-32-44-941-061-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

   (2) Make sure that one or both half thrust reversers are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-803).
   (3) Make sure that the hinge access panel is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-45-000-801).
NOTE: This step is applicable if one half thrust reverser is installed.
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-44-420-059-A
A. Installation of the Hinge Beam Rod R1
   (1) Clean the parts to be installed and the contact surfaces with a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) made moist with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) .
   (2) Put the hinge beam rod R1 (8) in position into the thrust reverser lug from the opposite side, if one half thrust reverser is installed.
   (3) Installation of the bonding strap (7) on the hinge rod R1 (8)
NOTE: This procedure is given for one position and it is same for the second position.
     (a) Put the bonding strap (7) in position.
     (b) Install the bolt (5) and the washer (6).
     (c) TORQUE the bolt (5) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in ) T.
   (4) Go to the opposite side of the half thrust reverser.
   (5) Install the second bonding strap (7) to the hinge beam rod R1 (8). Refer to Step 4.A.(3).
   (6) Installation of the hinge beam rod R1 (8) on the half thrust reverser
NOTE: Do not do the step 4.A.(3), if no half thrust reverser is installed.
     (a) Install the screws (4).
     (b) Remove the
98N7830H014-000 THRUST REVERSER HINGE BOLT BULLETS from the screw (4).
     (c) Install the washer (3) and the nut (2).
     (d) Tighten the nut (2) until the washer (3) is blocked.
     (e) Installation of the cotter pin
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
       1 Install the new AIPC 78-30-16-11-010 COTTER PIN (1).
NOTE: You can tighten or loosen the nut (2) maximum up to 1/6 turn to install the new cotter pin (1).
   (7) Install the hinge access panel (
Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-45-400-801).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install one or both half thrust reversers (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-400-803).
   (3) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)
