3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-32-42-941-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
437AL 438AR.
     (b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.

C. Deactivate the Thrust Reverser.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).

D. Manually extend the translating sleeve (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-010).

E. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):
   (1) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
451AL 452AR.
   (2) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
461AL 462AR.
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-42-350-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the blocker door drag link surface damage.
F Blocker Door Drag Link ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Use the aluminum oxide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-074) to remove the damaged area to a 10 to 1 taper.
   (2) Use the aluminum oxide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-073) to polish the repair area and to make it smooth.
Subtask 78-32-42-110-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Clean the Repair Area.
   (1) Clean the repair area with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with V01-076Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Technical grade.
   (2) Remove the cleaning fluid with a clean lint free cloth before it becomes dry.

C. Apply the Conversion Coating.
   (1) Mix the conversion coating (Material No.V07-028) , refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
   (2) Use a BRUSH - NYLON or a COTTON SWAB to apply a layer of the conversion coating to the repair area.
   (3) After three minutes, apply another layer of the conversion coating.
   (4) Do steps (2) and (3) again until three layers of the conversion coating have been applied.
   (5) Flush the surface of the last layer with clean water.
   (6) Dry the surface.

D. Apply the primer
   (1) Mix the primer converter (Material No.V07-140) and the thinner (Material No.V07-139) , refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
   (2) Use a brush to apply the primer to the repair surface.
   (3) Cure the primer for 7 hours at room temperature or for forty minutes between 140 deg.F (60 deg.C) and 180 deg.F (82 deg.C) with an LIGHT SOURCE - HEAT, SPARK-PROOF.
NOTE: You can touch the primer after you have cured it as in step (3).
The primer is fully cured after 7 days at room temperature.

E. Visually examine the complete repair to make sure that the necessary repair procedure has been done.

F. Write VRS2278 adjacent to the assembly number on the translating sleeve to show that the repair has been done. Use a marking pen (Material No.V06-131) of a color which is different than the background.

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-410-010):

     (b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
461AL 462AR.

B. Manually retract the translating sleeve (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-011).

C. Activate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-012).

D. Close Access
   (1) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

E. Operational Test
   (1) Do an operational test of the thrust reverser system (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-041).
NOTE: As an alternative procedure, you can do the operational test without the CFDS (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-041).
