A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 78-32-19-010-061-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL 4. ProcedureWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). Subtask 78-32-19-350-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Blend Out the Surface Damage
(1) Use the aluminum oxide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-074) to blend the damaged area to a 10 to 1 taper.
(2) Use the aluminum oxide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-073) to make the repair area smooth.
(3) Clean the repair area with a lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) made moist withV01-076 Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Technical grade . Rub the surfaces dry before the cleaning solvent becomes dry.
Subtask 78-32-19-350-061-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Use the aluminum oxide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-074) to blend the damaged area to a 10 to 1 taper.
(2) Use the aluminum oxide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-073) to make the repair area smooth.

(2) Use a nylon brush or cheesecloth swab to apply three layers of the conversion coating to the bare metal of the repair area. Permit 3 minutes between layers. Use the distilled or deionized water (Material No.V01-201) to flush the surface after the last layer. Dry the surface.

(1) Use the manufacturer instructions to mix the conversion coating (Material No.V07-028) . (2) Use a nylon brush or cheesecloth swab to apply three layers of the conversion coating to the bare metal of the repair area. Permit 3 minutes between layers. Use the distilled or deionized water (Material No.V01-201) to flush the surface after the last layer. Dry the surface.
C. Apply the Primer
(1) Use manufacturer instructions to mix the primer converter (Material No.V07-140) and thinner (Material No.V07-139) .
(2) Use a brush to apply the primer to the repair surface.
(3) Cure the primer for 7 hours at room temperature or for 40 minutes between 140 and 180 deg.F (60 and 82 deg.C) with an LIGHT SOURCE - HEAT, SPARK-PROOF.
Subtask 78-32-19-220-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Use manufacturer instructions to mix the primer converter (Material No.V07-140) and thinner (Material No.V07-139) .
(2) Use a brush to apply the primer to the repair surface.
(3) Cure the primer for 7 hours at room temperature or for 40 minutes between 140 and 180 deg.F (60 and 82 deg.C) with an LIGHT SOURCE - HEAT, SPARK-PROOF.
NOTE: You can touch the primer after you have cured it as described above. The primer is fully cured after 7 days at room temperature.
D. Examine the Completed Repair
(1) Examine the completed repair to make sure all requirements of this repair procedure are done.

(1) Make a mark VRS2254 with a marking pen (Material No.V06-131) adjacent to the assembly.
