TASK 78-32-00-410-802-A
Closing of the Thrust Reverser Halves (Alternate Procedure)

WARNING: DO THIS PROCEDURE CAREFULLY. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER HALF CAN CLOSE FAST AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS BETWEEN THE THRUST REVERSER HALF AND THE ENGINE.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: BEFORE AND AFTER YOU OPEN AND CLOSE THE THRUST REVERSER, MAKE SURE THAT THE LATCH 1 INDICATOR (RED FLAG) IS: - IN THE CORRECT POSITION - NOT CAUGHT BETWEEN THE TWO HALVES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: FIRST CLOSE ONE HALF OF THE REVERSER AND MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO CHAFING BETWEEN THE LOWER BUMPER OF THE REVERSER HALF AND THE ENGINE HARNESS.

C. Adjustment of the Auxiliary Latch Assembly to its Minimum Length
F Thrust Reverser Half Latch Access ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: DO NOT TURN THE BODY OF THE AUXILIARY LATCH ASSEMBLY TO MAKE IT SHORTER THAN ITS MINIMUM LENGTH. THE AUXILIARY LATCH ASSEMBLY CAN BE DAMAGED IF YOU TRY TO DECREASE ITS MINIMUM LENGTH.
   (1) Remove the auxiliary latch assembly (2) from the retention clip (5).
   (2) Turn the body of the auxiliary latch assembly (2) around the end fitting which is attached to the thrust reverser half. Turn it until the end fitting touches the stop in the body.
   (3) Hold the body so that it does not move and turn the other end fitting. Turn the end fitting until it touches the stop in the body.
NOTE: When the two end fittings touch the stops this is the minimum length of the auxiliary latch assembly.

D. Engage the auxiliary latch assembly
F Thrust Reverser Half Latch Access ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Hold the end fitting (which is not attached to the thrust reverser half) of the auxiliary latch assembly (2) so that it does not move.
   (2) Turn the body of the auxiliary latch assembly (2) to make it longer. Increase its length until the end fitting can be attached to the hook (4) on the other thrust reverser half. Make sure that an equal amount of thread shows on each side of the body before you do step (3).
   (3) Engage the auxiliary latch assembly (2) in the hook (4) on the other thrust reverser half.
Subtask 78-32-00-480-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
E. Engage the front latch open indicator
F Thrust Reverser Half Latches ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU POSITION THE FRONT LATCH CORRECTLY AGAINST THE FRONT LATCH OPEN INDICATOR WHILE YOU PULL THE THRUST REVERSER HALVES TOGETHER WITH THE AUXILIARY LATCH ASSEMBLY. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS THE FRONT LATCH CAN GET CAUGHT BETWEEN THE THRUST REVERSER HALVES AND THE AUXILIARY LATCH ASSEMBLY AND THE HOOK CAN GET DAMAGED.
CAUTION: DO NOT TURN THE BODY OF THE AUXILIARY LATCH ASSEMBLY TO MAKE IT SHORTER THAN ITS MINIMUM LENGTH. STOP TURNING THE BODY WHEN EITHER END FITTING TOUCHES THE STOP IN THE BODY. THE AUXILIARY LATCH ASSEMBLY CAN BE DAMAGED IF YOU TRY TO DECREASE ITS MINIMUM LENGTH.
   (1) Push the front latch open indicator (16) to the recessed position and hold it in this position.
   (2) Turn the body of the auxiliary latch assembly (2) with a WRENCH - STANDARD to pull the thrust reverser halves closer together.

CAUTION: YOU MUST ADJUST THE AUXILIARY LATCH ASSEMBLY TO ITS MINIMUM LENGTH BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN TO THE RETENTION CLIP. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS THE AUXILIARY LATCH ASSEMBLY CAN MOVE OUT OF ITS POSITION.
   (1) Turn the body of the auxiliary latch assembly (2) to make it longer. Increase the length of the auxiliary latch assembly (2) until the end fitting disengages from the hook (4) on the other thrust reverser half.
