A. Adjust the lower inhibit cable.
(1) Make sure that the upper inhibit cable is installed correctly (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-06-400-802).
(2) Make sure that the lower inhibit cable is installed correctly on the engine fan case (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-06-400-801).
(3) Make sure that the lower inhibit cable is connected to the upper inhibit cable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-06-400-801).
(4) If you cannot correctly connect the lower inhibit cable and upper inhibit cable, go to the step 4.A.(5).
(5) Adjust the lower inhibit cable as follows:
(b) Loosen the bolt on the hinged adjustment bracket to disengage the anti-rotational feature from the adjuster wheel.
(c) Turn the adjuster wheel as necessary.
(d) Tighten the bolt on the hinged adjustment bracket with your hand. Make sure the anti-rotation feature on the hinged adjustment bracket correctly engages the adjuster wheel. Do not torque the bolt at this time. See the view C of the figure:
(e) Make sure that the clamps are aligned with the center of the conduit installation references.
1 If necessary, loosen the bolts on the clamps that attach the lower inhibit cable assembly to the brackets and adjust the conduit installation references.
2 TORQUE the bolts to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-06-400-801).
(6) Do a clearance check of the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) inhibit mechanism as follows:
(a) Remove the applicable access panel on the pylon to get access to the HCU:
1 FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
413AT
2 FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
423AT
(b) Make sure that the inhibit cable is in the ACTIVE position.
(c) Measure the clearance of the inhibit mechanism.
(d) Make sure that the clearance is between 0.000 in. (0.00 mm) and 0.033 in. (0.84 mm). If the clearance is larger than 0.033 in. (0.84 mm), go to the step 4.A.(5).
(7) Do a functional test of the inhibit cables, lower inhibit cable-lever and lockout pin as follows:
(a) Put the lower inhibit cable in the ACTIVE position.
1 Remove the lockout pin from the INHIBITED position.
3 Move the lower inhibit cable-lever to the ACTIVE position and install the lockout pin.
5 If you cannot install the lockout pin or cannot install it easily in the ACTIVE position, go to the step 4.A.(5).
(b) Put the lower inhibit cable in the INHIBITED position.
1 Remove the lockout pin from the ACTIVE position.
2 Move the lower inhibit cable-lever to the INHIBITED position and install the lockout pin.
3 If you cannot move the lower inhibit cable-lever to the INHIBITED position easily, adjust the lower inhibit cable so that there is no load on the cable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-06-400-801).
4 If you cannot install the lockout pin or cannot easily install it in the INHIBITED position, go to the step 4.A.(5).
(c) Put the lower inhibit cable in the ACTIVE position.
1 Remove the lockout pin from the INHIBITED position.
2 Move the lower inhibit cable-lever to the ACTIVE position and install the lockout pin.
4 If you cannot install the lockout pin or cannot install it easily in the ACTIVE position, go to the step 4.A.(5).
(d) Do steps 4.A.(7)(b) thru 4.A.(7)(c) two more times. Make sure that the lockout pin can be installed in the active and inhibited positions.
(8) TORQUE the bolt on the hinged adjustment bracket to between 27 and 22 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.25 m.daN )
.
(9) Do an operational test of the thrust reverser with the MCDU. Make sure the system operates correctly and the indication in the cockpit is correct (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-805).
5. Close-up(1) Make sure that the upper inhibit cable is installed correctly (Ref.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THE LOWER INHIBIT CABLE HANDLE ASSEMBLY AND THE UPPER INHIBIT CABLE ENGAGE CORRECTLY. IF THE LOWER INHIBIT CABLE HANDLE ASSEMBLY AND THE UPPER INHIBIT CABLE ARE NOT ENGAGED CORRECTLY, THE SYSTEM CAN OPERATE INCORRECTLY.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE LOCKING PIN IS CORRECTLY ENGAGED. IF THE LOCKING PIN IS NOT CORRECTLY ENGAGED, INCORRECT INSTALLATION AND OPERATION CAN OCCUR.
(a) Make sure that the lower inhibit cable is in the INHIBITED position.
