3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

4. Procedure

A. Do a visual inspection of the primary latch mechanism as follows:

MAXIMUM SERVICEABLE LIMITS
REMARKS
1.Examine each blocker door latch mechanism for:


A.Damage
No damage permitted
If you find some damage, replace the door latch. (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-19-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-19-400-001).
B.Leakage
No leakage permitted
If you find any leakage, examine the supply pipes for the the correct torque (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-49-400-042), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-49-400-043), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-49-400-044) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-49-400-045).


If leakage continues replace the latch (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-19-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-19-400-001).
2.Examine the latch hook for:


A.Damage
No damage permitted
If you find some damage, replace the blocker door latch (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-19-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-19-400-001).
3.Examine the latch fitting and roller for:


A.Damage
No damage permitted
If you find some damage, replace the defective part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-000-003) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-400-003).
B.Jamming
The roller must be free to turn
If the roller is not free, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-000-003) and reinstall it (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-400-003).
C.Lubrication
The roller axis must be lubricated
If the roller axis is dry without lubrication, remove the roller (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-000-003), lubricate the axis and install (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-400-003).
4.Examine the parts that attach the latch fitting and roller, look for:


A.Loose fastener
None permitted
If you find a loose fastener, re-torque the part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-400-003).
B.Missing Fastener
None permitted
If parts are missing replace the missing part.
5. Close-up

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
