3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-31-19-941-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position on the right side of engine.

C. Make the thrust reverser unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).

D. Open the blocker door manually (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-860-001).

E. Install the HIX3005 SAFETY SLEEVE - PIVOTING DOOR ACTUATOR on blocker door actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-480-001).

4. Procedure

WARNING: WEAR A FACE SHIELD WHICH IS RESISTANT TO HIGH PRESSURE JETS WHEN YOU WORK ON PRESSURIZED SYSTEMS.

WARNING: DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:

FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
GET MEDICAL AID.

CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:

ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.

THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.

Subtask 78-31-19-020-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Removal of the Blocker Door Latches

Thermal Blankets of the Blocker Door Latches ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Turn the Dzus fastener on the thermal blanket (40) to loosen it and remove the blanket from the blocker door latch (15).
(2) Cut the safety wire and remove the thermal blankets (30) and (35) from the blocker door latch (15).
(3) Disconnect the supply and the return pipes from the blocker door latches (15).
(4) Remove the nuts (5) and the bolts (25) which attach the blocker door latch (15).

NOTE: The bolt near the V-head ring segment must be removed with the blocker door latch.

(5) Carefully move the tubes aside and pull the blocker door latch (15) towards the front of the engine to remove it.
(6) Remove the unions (20) from the blocker door latch (15).
(7) Remove and discard the preformed packings (10) from the unions (20).
(8) Install the COVER - PROTECTION on the tubes and the PLUG - BLANKING on the latch openings.
(9) Put the thermal blankets (30), (35) and (40) in a suitable container and attach the container to the unserviceable unit.
