C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the left thrust reverser cowl-door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 75-26-01-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Buffer Air Heat Exchanger
(1) Removal of the protection covers
(2) If necessary, install the bracket (2) as follows:
See Sheet 1 of the figure:
(a) Apply Antigalling Compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the two bolts (1).
(c) TORQUE the bolts (1) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )

(3) Install the buffer air heat exchanger (12) as follows:
See Sheet 2 and 3 of the figure:
(a) Apply beeswax (Material No.P05-395) to the new EIPC 75-26-01-01-050 GASKET (26), the new EIPC 75-26-01-01-070 GASKET (29) and the new EIPC 75-26-01-01-060 GASKET (30).
(b) Install the two gaskets (26) and (30) on the heat exchanger (12) grooves.
(c) Install the gasket (29) and the metering plate (27) on the heat exchanger (12).
(d) Apply the Antigalling Compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the four bolts (14) and the two bolts (15).
(f) Engage the heat exchanger (12) forward pin (13) to the forward bracket assembly.
(g) Install the two bolts (15) that attach the heat exchanger (12) to the rear bracket assembly finger-tight.
(h) Install the pin (13) on the heat exchanger (12) with the two bolts (14) and engage the center bracket assembly.
(i) TORQUE the four bolts (14) and the two bolts (15) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )

(4) Install the manifolds (AP24) and (AP27) on the heat exchanger (12) as follows:
See Sheet 3 of the figure:
(a) Apply Antigalling Compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the six bolts (25).
See Sheet 3 of the figure:
(c) Install the manifold (AP27) on the heat exchanger with the three bolts (25).
(d) TORQUE the six bolts (25) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
in small increments and until the same torque indication holds.
(5) Install the tube (AD06) on the heat exchanger (12) as follows:
See Sheet 3 of the figure:
(a) ApplyP03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine to the threads of the coupling (28).
(b) Connect the tube (AD06) to the heat exchanger (12) with the coupling (28).
(c) TORQUE the coupling (28) to between 85 and 70 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.79 m.daN )
.
(d) Tap the coupling (28) with a MALLET - SOFT FACE.
(e) TORQUE the coupling (28) again to between 85 and 70 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.79 m.daN )
.
(6) Install the tube (AD07) (42) on the heat exchanger (12) as follows:
See Sheet 4 of the figure:
(a) Apply beeswax (Material No.P05-395) to a new EIPC 75-26-01-01-090 GASKET (40).
(b) Install the gasket (40) to the heat exchanger (12).
(c) ApplyP03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine to the threads of the coupling (41).
(d) Install the tube (AD07) (42) to the heat exchanger (12) with the coupling (41).
(e) Apply Antigalling Compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the two bolts (44).
(g) TORQUE the coupling (41) to between 85 and 70 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.79 m.daN )

(h) Tap the coupling (41) with a MALLET - SOFT FACE.
(i) TORQUE the coupling (41) again to between 85 and 70 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.79 m.daN )
.
(j) TORQUE the two bolts (44) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )
.
5. Close-up(1) Removal of the protection covers
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. (2) If necessary, install the bracket (2) as follows:
See Sheet 1 of the figure:
(a) Apply Antigalling Compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the two bolts (1).
NOTE: For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Install the bracket (2) to the high pressure turbine bracket with bolts (1) finger-tight. (c) TORQUE the bolts (1) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
. (3) Install the buffer air heat exchanger (12) as follows:
See Sheet 2 and 3 of the figure:
(a) Apply beeswax (Material No.P05-395) to the new EIPC 75-26-01-01-050 GASKET (26), the new EIPC 75-26-01-01-070 GASKET (29) and the new EIPC 75-26-01-01-060 GASKET (30).
(b) Install the two gaskets (26) and (30) on the heat exchanger (12) grooves.
(c) Install the gasket (29) and the metering plate (27) on the heat exchanger (12).
(d) Apply the Antigalling Compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the four bolts (14) and the two bolts (15).
NOTE: For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(e) Install the two bolts (14) and the pin (13) on the forward end of the heat exchanger (12) finger-tight. (f) Engage the heat exchanger (12) forward pin (13) to the forward bracket assembly.
(g) Install the two bolts (15) that attach the heat exchanger (12) to the rear bracket assembly finger-tight.
(h) Install the pin (13) on the heat exchanger (12) with the two bolts (14) and engage the center bracket assembly.
(i) TORQUE the four bolts (14) and the two bolts (15) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
. (4) Install the manifolds (AP24) and (AP27) on the heat exchanger (12) as follows:

(a) Apply Antigalling Compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the six bolts (25).

(b) Connect the tube (AD06) to the heat exchanger (12) with the coupling (28).
(c) TORQUE the coupling (28) to between 85 and 70 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.79 m.daN )
. (d) Tap the coupling (28) with a MALLET - SOFT FACE.
(e) TORQUE the coupling (28) again to between 85 and 70 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.79 m.daN )
. (6) Install the tube (AD07) (42) on the heat exchanger (12) as follows:

(a) Apply beeswax (Material No.P05-395) to a new EIPC 75-26-01-01-090 GASKET (40).
(b) Install the gasket (40) to the heat exchanger (12).
(c) Apply
(d) Install the tube (AD07) (42) to the heat exchanger (12) with the coupling (41).
(e) Apply Antigalling Compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the two bolts (44).
NOTE: For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(f) Attach the tube (AD07) (42) to the bracket with the clamp (43) and two bolts (44). (g) TORQUE the coupling (41) to between 85 and 70 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.79 m.daN )
. (h) Tap the coupling (41) with a MALLET - SOFT FACE.
(i) TORQUE the coupling (41) again to between 85 and 70 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.79 m.daN )
. (j) TORQUE the two bolts (44) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )
