Installation of the HJ2A Engine Wiring Harness


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

Subtask 73-21-60-941-056-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 73-21-60-420-057-A
A. Installation of the HJ2A Engine Wiring Harness
   (1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (2) Make sure that the mating faces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
   (3) Install the HJ2A engine wiring harness (1) in the correct position in 19 clips (2) along its routing.
   (4) Install the new EIPC 72-00-00-15-070 FIREPROOF BLOCK (27).
   (5) Installation of the bracket assemblies:
     (a) Installation of the bracket assembly (21):
       1 Install the four bolts (22) and the four nuts (28) to attach the bracket assembly (21) on the fireproof block (27) and bracket (25) and tighten them with your hand.
       2 TORQUE the four bolts (22) to between 46.2 and 41.8 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN )
T.
     (b) Installation of the bracket assembly (24):
       1 Install the five bolts (23) and the five nuts (26) to attach the bracket assembly (24) to the fireproof block (27) and bracket (25) and tighten them with your hand.
       2 TORQUE the five bolts (23) to between 46.2 and 41.8 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN )
T.
   (6) Apply the RTV 106 (Material No.
CP2267) around the engine wiring harnesses, the nuts (26) and (28) and in the split lines of the fireproof block (27) SPM 706612.
   (7) Installation of the bolts on the clamps to attach the HJ2A engine wiring harness (1):
     (a) Install the bolt (7) and nut (6) to the clamp (5) and clamp (8) and tighten them with your hand.
     (b) TORQUE the bolt (7) to between 46.47 and 42.04 lbf.in (0.53 and 0.48 m.daN ) T.
     (c) Install the bolt (14) on the clamp (15) and tighten it with your hand.
     (d) TORQUE the bolt (14) to between 46.47 and 42.04 lbf.in (0.53 and 0.48 m.daN )
T.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: YOU MUST NOT USE PLIERS WITH METAL JAWS TO TIGHTEN OR LOOSEN THE CONNECTOR. THE METAL JAWS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CONNECTOR.
   (8) Connection of the HJ2A engine wiring harness (1) connectors to these receptacles:
NOTE: Only if necessary, use PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to connect the electrical connectors.
     (a) Connect the HJ2A engine wiring harness (1) connector P24A to the ignition exciter 1 receptacle (20) (at the seven o'clock position).
     (b) Install the ignition exciter box 1 cover (17) in the correct position on the ignition exciter box (19).
     (c) Install the four bolts (18) to attach the ignition exciter box 1 cover (17) to the ignition exciter box (19) and tighten them with your hand.
     (d) TORQUE the four bolts (18) to between 57.75 and 52.25 lbf.in (0.65 and 0.59 m.daN )
T.
     (e) Connect the connector socket (12) in the correct position on the bracket (11).
     (f) Install the two bolts (10) to attach the connector socket (12) to the bracket (11) and tighten them with your hand.
     (g) TORQUE the two bolts (10) to between 46.47 and 42.04 lbf.in (0.53 and 0.48 m.daN )
T.
     (h) Connect the HJ2A engine wiring harness (1) connector 402 to the pylon receptacle (16) (at the 12 o'clock position).
     (i) Connect the HJ2A engine wiring harness (1) connector to the HJ2B engine wiring harness receptacle (13) (at the 11 o'clock position).

     (j) Connect the HJ2A engine wiring harness (1) connector to the EEC cooling blower (upper) (9) (at the 1 o'clock position).
     (k) Connect the HJ2A engine wiring harness (1) connector to the EEC cooling blower (lower) (4) (at the 1 o'clock position).

     (l) Connect the two HJ2A engine wiring harness (1) connectors to the two receptacles (29) (at the 1 o'clock position).

     (m) Connect the HJ2A engine wiring harness (1) connector P2A to the EEC channel A J2 receptacle (3) (at the 2 o'clock position).
     (n) Tighten the electrical harness connectors until you cannot see the color marks on the receptacles.
     (o) Make sure that the electrical harness connectors do not move after you fully engage them.

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):
