Cleaning of the Main Gearbox with a Chemical Agent
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AND THE ADJACENT COMPONENTS AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE OIL AND THE ADJACENT COMPONENTS CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

A. Cleaning of the Main Gearbox with a Cleaning Agent
(1) Find the main gearbox installed approximately at the 6 o'clock position attached to the diffuser.
(2) Clean the main gearbox with the aqueous degreasing method:
1 PMC 9094 isopropyl alcohol (Material No.P11-014)
2 PMC 9001 petroleum solvent (Material No.P11-027)
3 PMC 9060 cleaner solvent (Material No.P11-039) .
5. Close-up(1) Find the main gearbox installed approximately at the 6 o'clock position attached to the diffuser.
(2) Clean the main gearbox with the aqueous degreasing method:
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THE ENGINE IS COOL TO THE TOUCH BEFORE YOU APPLY THE SOLVENTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
(a) Clean the main gearbox with the aqueous degreasing method (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-805).NOTE: This cleaning method is optional to the solvent wipe method (SPOP 208).
(b) Clean the main gearbox with aqueous cleaner (Material No.P11-049) . CAUTION:
KEEP THE COMPRESSED AIR AT A PRESSURE EQUAL TO OR BELOW 30 PSIG (206.8 kPa). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
(c) Let the main gearbox air dry after the cleaning operation.NOTE: You can use AIR SOURCE 2 BAR (30 PSI) - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY to help dry the main gearbox faster.
(3) Clean the main gearbox with the solvent wipe method: WARNING:
MAKE SURE THE ENGINE IS COOL TO THE TOUCH BEFORE YOU APPLY THE SOLVENTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
(a) Clean the main gearbox with the solvent wipe method (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-804).NOTE: This cleaning method is optional to the aqueous degreasing method (SPOP 209).
(b) Clean the main gearbox surface with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) and one of the cleaning agents from the list below: 1 PMC 9094 isopropyl alcohol (Material No.P11-014)
2 PMC 9001 petroleum solvent (Material No.P11-027)
3 PMC 9060 cleaner solvent (Material No.P11-039) .
CAUTION:
KEEP THE COMPRESSED AIR AT A PRESSURE EQUAL TO OR BELOW 30 PSIG (206.8 kPa). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
(c) Let the main gearbox air dry after the cleaning operation. NOTE: You can use AIR SOURCE 2 BAR (30 PSI) - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY to help dry the main gearbox faster.
