(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
Subtask 72-35-01-010-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 72-35-01-350-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Borescope Boss Chase Thread Repair of the HPC Front Case
(1) Remove the borescope plug lock(s) from the HPC front case set (Ref. AMM TASK 72-35-01-920-803).
(2) Chase threads with a 0.375-24 UNJF-3B tap for the borescope boss at location B and with a 0.4375-20 UNJF-3B tap for the borescope boss at location D fully through.

(4) Do an inspection of the threads with a certified go/no go thread gage. If a threaded hole is not in the gage inspection limits, the part cannot be repaired with this procedure.
(5) Install the borescope plug lock(s) to the HPC front case set (Ref. AMM TASK 72-35-01-920-803).
5. Close-up(1) Remove the borescope plug lock(s) from the HPC front case set (Ref. AMM TASK 72-35-01-920-803).
(2) Chase threads with a 0.375-24 UNJF-3B tap for the borescope boss at location B and with a 0.4375-20 UNJF-3B tap for the borescope boss at location D fully through.
Borescope Boss Chase Thread Repair of the High Pressure Compressor (HPC) Front Case ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: Minor thread damage can be repaired by chasing threads. If threads cannot be repaired by chasing, the part cannot be repaired by this procedure. Use a VACUUM CLEANER to keep debris out of the engine during thread chasing.
(3) Clean the part by SPOP 208 (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-804). (4) Do an inspection of the threads with a certified go/no go thread gage. If a threaded hole is not in the gage inspection limits, the part cannot be repaired with this procedure.
(5) Install the borescope plug lock(s) to the HPC front case set (Ref. AMM TASK 72-35-01-920-803).
