WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: THIS AMM REPAIR LETS YOU REPLACE ONLY THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER'S BORESCOPE PLUG LOCKS. IF THE HOLES ARE DAMAGED AND OVERSIZED PLUG LOCKS ARE NECESSARY, YOU MUST NOT DO THE REPAIR ON THE AIRCRAFT. YOU MUST REMOVE THE PART AND REFER TO THE RELATED CLEANING, INSPECTION AND REPAIR MANUAL FOR INSTRUCTIONS.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT DURING THE REPAIR, PARTS AND DEBRIS DO NOT GO INTO THE ENGINE. IF THEY DO, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE WILL OCCUR.

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Get Access
   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
461AL, 462AR.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 72-35-01-920-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Replacement of the High Pressure Compressor (HPC) Case Borescope Plug Lock
   (1) Remove all the external attachments that are necessary to aid in the removal and installation of the borescope plug lock(s).
   (2) Remove the loose or damaged borescope plug lock(s) (1) from the HPC front case set:
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN USE TOOLS TO REMOVE THE LOCK(S). IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HPC.
     (a) Remove the loose or damaged borescope plug lock(s) (1) with a small pry bar.
   (3) Remove the loose or damaged borescope plug lock(s) (2) from the HPC front case set:
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN USE TOOLS TO REMOVE THE LOCK(S). IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HPC.
     (a) Remove the loose or damaged borescope plug lock(s) (2) with a small pry bar.
   (4) Clean the repair area(s) with SPOP 208 (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-804).
   (5) Do a visual and dimensional inspection of the borescope plug lock counterbore and boss face as follows:
     (a) Counterbore diameter for the borescope plug lock(s) (1) must be between 0.475 in. (12.06 mm) and 0.477 in. (12.12 mm) prior to installation.
     (b) Counterbore and boss face must not have nicks, burrs, scratches, tool marks, corrosion, wear or damage.
     (c) Counterbore diameter for the borescope plug lock(s) (2) must be between 0.587 in. (14.91 mm) and 0.589 in. (14.96 mm) prior to installation.
     (d) Counterbore and boss face must not have nicks, burrs, scratches, tool marks, corrosion, wear or damage.

PRE SB C-72-00-0098A (Config-1 Initial Assembly Process)

   (6) Install new 72351001-120BORESCOPE PLUG LOCK(S)1 to the AP HPC-2, AP-HPC-3 and AP HPC-4 borescope ports as follows:
NOTE: The assembly operation is done at room temperature with hand tools only. The borescope plug lock does not need to be cooled for installation.
NOTE: The borescope plug locks must be flush to 0.005 in. (0.13 mm) below surface.
     (a) Install the borescope plug lock(s) (1) with the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC to the HPC front case set as follows:
       1 Apply P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine to the threads and shoulder of the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC.
       2 Install the borescope plug lock to the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC.
       3 Insert the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC with the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
       4 Tighten the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC with a WRENCH - STANDARD to install the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
       5 Remove the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC.
       6 Examine the borescope plug lock(s) (1).
   (7) Install new 72351001-130BORESCOPE PLUG LOCK(S)2 to the AP HPC-5 and AP HPC-6 borescope ports as follows:
NOTE: The assembly operation is done at room temperature with hand tools only. The borescope plug locking insert does not need to be decreased in temperature for installation.
NOTE: The borescope plug locks must be flush to 0.005 in. (0.13 mm) below surface.
     (a) Install borescope plug lock(s) (2) with the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION tool to the HPC front case set as follows:
       1 Apply P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine to the threads and shoulder of the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION.
       2 Install the borescope plug lock to the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION.
       3 Insert the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION with the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
       4 Tighten the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION with a WRENCH - STANDARD to press the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
       5 Remove the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION.
       6 Examine the borescope plug lock(s) (2).

   (8) Install new 72351001-120BORESCOPE PLUG LOCK(S)1 to the AP HPC-2, AP HPC-3 and AP HPC-4 borescope ports as follows:
NOTE: The assembly operation is done at room temperature with hand tools only. The borescope plug lock does not need to be cooled for installation.
NOTE: The borescope plug lock must be flush to the surface.
     (a) Install the borescope plug lock(s) (1) with the PUSHER, INSTALLATION PWA212004 BORESCOPE LOCK PUSHER to the HPC front case set as follows:
       1 Install the borescope plug lock to the PUSHER, INSTALLATION PWA212004 BORESCOPE LOCK PUSHER.
       2 Insert the PUSHER, INSTALLATION PWA212004 BORESCOPE LOCK PUSHER with the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
       3 Tighten the PUSHER, INSTALLATION PWA212004 BORESCOPE LOCK PUSHER with a WRENCH - STANDARD to install the borescope plug lock into counterbore.
       4 Remove the PUSHER, INSTALLATION PWA212004 BORESCOPE LOCK PUSHER.
       5 Examine the borescope plug lock(s) (1).
   (9) Install new 72351001-130BORESCOPE PLUG LOCK(S)2 to the AP HPC-5 and AP HPC-6 borescope ports as follows:
NOTE: The assembly operation is done at room temperature with hand tools only. The borescope plug locking insert does not need to be decreased in temperature for installation.
NOTE: The borescope plug locks must be flush to the surface.
     (a) Install borescope plug lock(s) (2) with the PUSHER, INSTALLATION PWA212003 BORESCOPE PLUG PUSHER to the HPC front case set as follows:
       1 Install the borescope plug lock to the PUSHER, INSTALLATION PWA212003 BORESCOPE PLUG PUSHER.
       2 Install the PUSHER, INSTALLATION PWA212003 BORESCOPE PLUG PUSHER with the borescope plug lock in the counterbore.
       3 Tighten the PUSHER, INSTALLATION PWA212003 BORESCOPE PLUG PUSHER with a WRENCH - STANDARD to press the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
       4 Remove the PUSHER, INSTALLATION PWA212003 BORESCOPE PLUG PUSHER.
       5 Examine the borescope plug lock(s) (2).

   (10) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.

   (2) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
