A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
Subtask 72-24-03-420-055-A
A. Installation of Strut 6
   (1) Install strut 6 (3):
NOTE: Check that the seal (18) is in the good position before the strut 6 (3) installation
     (a) Make sure that the mating faces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
     (b) Install the spacers:
CAUTION: WHEN YOU INSTALL THE SPACERS AGAIN, MAKE SURE THAT YOU REFER TO THE POSITIONS THAT YOU RECORDED DURING THE REMOVAL. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL EACH SPACER IN ITS INITIAL POSITION, DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
       1 Install the two spacers (17) and the two spacers (16) on strut 6 (3). Refer to the positions that you recorded during the removal.
     (c) Install strut 6 (3) in the correct position on the engine.
     (d) Lubricate the threads of the two screws (4) with the graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
     (e) Install the two screws (4) to attach strut 6 (3) to the strut 6 fairing support (5).
     (f) TORQUE the two screws (4) to between 84 and 76 lbf.in (0.95 and 0.86 m.daN ) T.
     (g) Apply the CA1010 Mastinox chromate free jointing compound (Material No.
CP2773) on the threads of the two bolts (9).
     (h) Install the two bolts (9) and the two washers (10) to attach strut 6 (3) to the fan frame shroud (8) and tighten them by hand.
     (i) TORQUE the two bolts (9) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN ) T.
     (j) Apply the CA1010 Mastinox chromate free jointing compound (Material No.
CP2773) on the threads of the two bolts (6).
     (k) Install the two bolts (6) and the two washers (7) to attach strut 6 (3) to the fan frame shroud (8) and tighten by hand.
     (l) TORQUE the two bolts (6) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN ) T.
     (m) Lubricate the threads of the two bolts (14) with the graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (n) Install the two bolts (14) to attach strut 6 (3) to the fan hub (15) and tighten them by hand.
     (o) TORQUE the two bolts (14) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN ) T.
     (p) Carefully install the seal (12) and the plate (13) on strut 6 (3).
     (q) Install the eight bolts (11) on the seal (12) and the plate (13) and tighten them by hand.
     (r) TORQUE the eight bolts (11) to between 92.4 and 83.6 lbf.in (1.04 and 0.94 m.daN )

   (2) Install segment shroud 5 (2) (
Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
   (3) Install segment shroud 4 (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
5. Close-up
