C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

A. Detailed Visual Inspection of the Outer Structural Guide Vane Liner
   (1) Do a detailed visual inspection of the outer structural-guide-vane liner-segment for damage. Use a FLASHLIGHT if necessary. Refer to Table 601.
   (2) Put a MAT - PROTECTIVE inside the air intake cowl.
   (3) Wear GLOVES - PROTECTIVE when you touch the fan blades.

Outer structural-guide-vane liner-segment for:
Missing liners
Install up to two missing liners in 50 flight cycles (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-05-400-803).

If more than two liners are missing, install the liners before the next flight (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-05-400-803).
Liner flow path surface for:
Cracks in the area 0.30 in. (7.62 mm) axial length from the front edge, 0.20 in. (5.08 mm) axial length from the rear edge or triangle corner areas in 1.00 in. (25.40 mm), all quantities.
Permitted

Cracks over the above area
Replace up to two damaged liners in 50 cycles (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-05-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-05-400-803).

If more than two liners are damaged, replace the damaged liners before the next flight (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-05-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-05-400-803).

Nicks, dents or scratches not more than 0.039 in. (0.991 mm) maximum depth, all quantities
Permitted

Nicks, dents or scratches more than 0.039 in. (0.991 mm) maximum depth
Replace the damaged liner in 50 flight cycles (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-05-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-05-400-803).

Surface erosion not more than 0.030 in. (0.762 mm) maximum depth, all quantities
Permitted

Surface erosion more than 0.030 in. (0.762 mm) maximum depth
Replace the damaged liner in 50 flight cycles. Replace the damaged liners before the next flight (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-05-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-05-400-803).

Punctures, holes or missing materials in the area 0.30 in. (7.62 mm) axial length from the front edge, 0.20 in. (5.08 mm) axial length from the rear edge or triangle corner areas in 1.00 in. (25.40 mm), all quantities.
Permitted

Punctures, holes or missing materials over the above area
Replace the damaged liner in 10 flight cycles (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-05-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-05-400-803).
Rubber fillet for:
Wear, peeling, detachment or missing materials, all quantities
Permitted. Loose rubber fillets which are possible to be released from the liner may be cut away.
   (4) Remove the MAT - PROTECTIVE from the air intake cowl.
