A. Safety Precautions

WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work in a fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
(2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Fuel Configuration
(1) Defuel the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the wing fuel tank, zone 540(640), outboard of flap track 4.
(2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):

for the left wing, remove 540PB 540QB 540RB
for the right wing, remove 640PB 640QB 640RB.

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-21-00-110-076-A

A. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , to clean the bottom skin runouts of:

the buttstrap at stringer 8 (RIB20 and RIB21 adjacent to the front spar)
the buttstrap at stringer 11 (RIB21 adjacent to the rear spar).

B. Inspection
(1) Do a special detailed inspection of the bottom skin buttstrap at stringer 8 (RIB20 and RIB21 adjacent to the front spar) and the runout of the bottom skin buttstrap at stringer 11 (RIB21 adjacent to the rear spar) NTM 572157.

NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 57210000 for the correct repair procedure. If the defect is not included in this repair, you must request a procedure from AIRBUS.

5. Close-up

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002):

for the left wing, install 540PB 540QB 540RB

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-46-400-001):

for the left wing, install 540PB 540QB 540RB
for the right wing, install 640PB 640QB 640RB.

(1) Refuel (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), defuel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or transfer fuel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001) as necessary.

C. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
