Installation of the Aft Movable Fairing

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 54-55-00-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to start engine 1(2).
   (2) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, at zone 470
     (b) For the right pylon, at zone 480.
   (4) Set the slat/flap control lever to position 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser is unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
Subtask 54-55-00-040-055-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser is unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).
Subtask 54-55-00-110-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (2) Clean the parts retained from the removed component with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , if necessary.
   (3) Do a dimensional check of the aft movable fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 54-55-00-200-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 54-55-00-420-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
A. Installation of the Aft Movable Fairing
F Aft Movable Fairing ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F Aft Movable Fairing ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Install the bushing (26) on the fork fitting assembly (25).
   (2) Put and hold the link assembly (24) on the fork fitting assembly (25).
   (3) Install the pin (31) and the nut (27).
   (4) TORQUE the nut (27) to between 1.2 and 0.8 m.daN (106.19 and 70.80 lbf.in ) T.
   (5) Install the pin (32) and the nut (28).
   (6) TORQUE the nut (28) to between 1.8 and 1.5 m.daN (13.27 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
T.
   (7) Safety the nut (28) with the new
AIPC 54-55-11-10-010 COTTER PIN (29) or the new AIPC 54-55-11-11-010 COTTER PIN (29).
   (8) Do the electrical bonding of the link assembly (24) to the applicable location (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (9) Put and hold the bonding lead (30) on the link assembly (24).
   (10) Install the washer (22) and the bolt (20).
   (11) Tighten the bolt (20).
   (12) Put and hold the forward fitting assembly (3) of the aft movable fairing on the pylon.
   (13) Install the bushings (4) on the forward fitting assembly (3).
   (14) Install the pins (2) and the nuts (11) and tighten them.
   (15) Install the pins (1) and the nuts (10) and tighten them.
   (16) Safety the nuts (10) with the new AIPC 54-55-11-10-010 COTTER PINS (9) or the new AIPC 54-55-11-11-010 COTTER PINS (9).
   (17) Do the electrical bonding of the forward fitting assembly (3) to the applicable location (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (18) Put and hold the bonding lead (7) on the forward fitting assembly (3).
   (19) Install the washer (6), the bolt (5) and the nut (8).
   (20) Tighten the nut (8).
   (21) Install the bushing (15) on the fork fitting assembly (14).
   (22) Put and hold the link assembly (24) on the fork fitting assembly (14).
   (23) Install the pin (13) and the nut (16) and tighten them.
   (24) Install the pin (12) and the nut (17) and tighten them.
   (25) Safety the nut (17) with the new AIPC 54-55-11-10-010 COTTER PIN (18) or the new AIPC 54-55-11-11-010 COTTER PIN (18).
   (26) Do the electrical bonding of the link assembly (24) to the applicable location (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (27) Put and hold the bonding lead (19) on the link assembly (24).
   (28) Install the washer (23) and the bolt (21).
   (29) Tighten the bolt (21).

B. Check and Adjustment of the Aft Movable Fairing

   (1) Set the slat/flap control lever to position 0 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (2) Measure clearance J1 at zone B.
   (3) Make sure that clearance J1 between the aft fixed fairing and the aft movable fairing of the pylon is 10 -2 mm or +2 mm (0.3937 -0.0787 in. or +0.0787 in.).
   (4) Make sure that clearance J1 is the same all along the zone between the aft movable fairing and the aft fixed fairing.
   (5) Measure clearance J2 at zone A.
   (6) Make sure that clearance J2 between the inner flap and the aft movable fairing of the pylon is 14 -3 mm or +4 mm (0.5512 -0.1181 in. or +0.1575 in.).
   (7) Make sure that clearance J2 is the same all along the joint on the two sides between the aft movable fairing and the wing.
   (8) Measure clearances J1 and J2 on the inboard and outboard sides of the aft movable fairing.
   (9) If necessary, adjust the aft movable fairing with the fork fitting assembly (25) at the bottom of the link.

C. Installation of the Aft Movable Fairing
F Aft Movable Fairing ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Install the bushing (24) on the fork fitting assembly (23).
   (2) Put and hold the link assembly (21) on the fork fitting assembly (23).
   (3) Install the pin (30) and the nut (25).
   (4) TORQUE the nut (25) to between 1.2 and 0.8 m.daN (106.19 and 70.80 lbf.in ) T.
   (5) Install the pin (31) and the nut (26).
   (6) TORQUE the nut (26) to between 1.8 and 1.5 m.daN (13.27 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
T.
   (7) Safety the nut (26) with a new cotter pin (27).
   (8) Do the electrical bonding of the link assembly (21) to the applicable location (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (9) Put and hold the bonding lead (28) on the link assembly (21).
   (10) Install the washer (22) and the bolt (20)
   (11) Tighten the bolt (20).
   (12) Put and hold the forward fitting assembly (3) of the aft movable fairing on the pylon.
   (13) Install the bushings (4) on the forward fitting assembly (3).
   (14) Install the pins (2) and the nuts (5).
   (15) TORQUE the nuts (5) to between 1.8 and 1.5 m.daN (13.27 and 11.06 lbf.ft ) T.
   (16) Install the pins (1) and the nuts (6) and tighten them.
   (17) Safety the nuts (6) with the new
AIPC 54-55-11-10-010 COTTER PINS (7) or the new AIPC 54-55-11-11-010 COTTER PINS (7).
   (18) Do the electrical bonding of the forward fitting assembly (3) to the applicable location (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (19) Put and hold the bonding lead (8) on the forward fitting assembly (3).
   (20) Install the bolt (10) and the nut (9).
   (21) Tighten the nut (9).
   (22) Install the bushing (14) on the fork fitting assembly (13).
   (23) Put and hold the link assembly (21) on the fork fitting assembly (13).
   (24) Install the pin (12) and the nut (15).
   (25) TORQUE the nut (15) to between 1.8 and 1.5 m.daN (13.27 and 11.06 lbf.ft ) T.
   (26) Install the pin (11) and the nut (16) and tighten them.
   (27) Safety the nut (16) with the new
AIPC 54-55-11-10-010 COTTER PIN (17) or the new AIPC 54-55-11-11-010 COTTER PIN (17).
   (28) Do the electrical bonding of the link assembly (21) to the applicable location (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (29) Put and hold the bonding lead (18) on the link assembly (21).
   (30) Install the washer (29) and the bolt (19).
   (31) Tighten the bolt (19).
Subtask 54-55-00-820-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Check and Adjustment of the Aft Movable Fairing
F Aft Movable Fairing ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Set the slat/flap control lever to position 0 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (2) Measure clearance J1 at zone B.
   (3) Make sure that clearance J1 between the aft fixed fairing and the aft movable fairing of the pylon is 4 -2 mm or +2 mm (0.1575 -0.0787 in. or +0.0787 in.).
   (4) Make sure that clearance J1 is the same all along the zone between the aft movable fairing and the aft fixed fairing.
   (5) Measure clearance J2 at zone A.
   (6) Make sure that clearance J2 between the inner flap and the aft movable fairing of the pylon is 8 -3 mm or +3 mm (0.3150 -0.1181 in. or +0.1181 in.).
   (7) Make sure that clearance J2 is the same all along the joint on the two sides between the aft movable fairing and the wing.
   (8) Measure clearances J1 and J2 on the inboard and outboard sides of the aft movable fairing.
   (9) If necessary, adjust the aft movable fairing with the fork fitting assembly (23) at the bottom of the link.
5. Close-up
Subtask 54-55-00-440-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make the thrust reverser serviceable after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-081-041).
   (2) Set the slat/flap control lever to position 1 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
Subtask 54-55-00-440-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make the thrust reverser serviceable after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-012).
   (2) Set the slat/flap control lever to position 1 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
Subtask 54-55-00-410-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-400-002):
     (a) For the left pylon: 477AL, 475CL and 485CL
     (b) For the right pylon: 487AR, 486CR and 476CR.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
Subtask 54-55-00-410-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-400-002):
     (a) For the left pylon: 477AL, 475BL and 485BL
     (b) For the right pylon: 487AR, 485BR and 475BR.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
