SPECIAL DETAILED INSPECTION (HFEC) OF PYLON, FORWARD LATERAL SPARS, LOWER RADIUS FORWARD OF RIB 1.
NOTE: The effectivity of this task is "ALL". To know if this task is applicable to your aircraft, refer to the MPD task applicability.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
(2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 54-51-00-040-115-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 54-51-00-010-125-A WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). C. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

(3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zone 415
(b) For the right pylon, in zone 425.
D. Removal of the Components
(1) Remove the pylon bleed-duct assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-49-000-830).
(2) Remove the engine fire-extinguishing pipe (4) between RIB1 and RIB4 from its connection. To do this:
(a) Loosen the nut (3).
(b) Disconnect the engine fire-extinguishing pipe (4) from its connection.
(c) Remove the bolts (6) and the washers (5).
(d) Remove the engine fire-extinguishing pipe (4) with its clamps (7).
(e) Put the PLUG - BLANKING on the disconnected pipe end.
(3) Remove the bracket (8) that is installed on the pylon box. To do this:
(a) Hold the bracket (8) that is installed on the pylon box.
(b) Remove the bolts (1) and the washers (2).
(c) Remove the bracket (8) from the pylon box.
Subtask 54-51-00-110-116-A (1) Remove the pylon bleed-duct assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-49-000-830).
(2) Remove the engine fire-extinguishing pipe (4) between RIB1 and RIB4 from its connection. To do this:
(a) Loosen the nut (3).
(b) Disconnect the engine fire-extinguishing pipe (4) from its connection.
(c) Remove the bolts (6) and the washers (5).
(d) Remove the engine fire-extinguishing pipe (4) with its clamps (7).
(e) Put the PLUG - BLANKING on the disconnected pipe end.
(3) Remove the bracket (8) that is installed on the pylon box. To do this:
(a) Hold the bracket (8) that is installed on the pylon box.
(b) Remove the bolts (1) and the washers (2).
(c) Remove the bracket (8) from the pylon box.
E. Preparation of the Inspection Area
(1) Remove the sealant and/or paint from the inspection area if this is necessary for the Non-destructive Testing Manual (NTM) task.
(2) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(3) If it is not sufficiently clean, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(4) Make sure that there is no (TPS) layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
(5) Use a FLASHLIGHT and a MIRROR - INSPECTION for the inspection, if necessary.
4. Procedure(1) Remove the sealant and/or paint from the inspection area if this is necessary for the Non-destructive Testing Manual (NTM) task.
(2) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(3) If it is not sufficiently clean, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(4) Make sure that there is no (TPS) layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
(5) Use a FLASHLIGHT and a MIRROR - INSPECTION for the inspection, if necessary.
Subtask 54-51-00-250-059-A
A. Inspection
(1) Do a special detailed inspection (HFEC) of the lower radius of the forward lateral spar of the pylon forward of RIB1 for damage or discontinuities. Refer to the Non-destructive Testing Manual ( NTM 545305) task.
(2) Make a report of the damage after the NTM inspection:
(a) Corrosion damage:
5. Close-up(1) Do a special detailed inspection (HFEC) of the lower radius of the forward lateral spar of the pylon forward of RIB1 for damage or discontinuities. Refer to the Non-destructive Testing Manual ( NTM 545305) task.
(2) Make a report of the damage after the NTM inspection:
(a) Corrosion damage:
- If you find corrosion damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512200) for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
- If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 511100) for the damage types, classification and corrective action.
Subtask 54-51-00-390-057-A
A. Sealant or Paint Application
(1) If the NTM procedure asked to remove the sealant and/or paint from the inspection area, apply sealant (refer to SRM 512400) or paint (refer to SRM 512300) on the inspection area.
Subtask 54-51-00-420-094-A (1) If the NTM procedure asked to remove the sealant and/or paint from the inspection area, apply sealant (refer to SRM 512400) or paint (refer to SRM 512300) on the inspection area.
B. Installation of the Components
(1) Install the bracket (8) on the pylon box. To do this:
(a) Put and hold the bracket (8) in position on the pylon box.
(b) Install the washers (2) and the bolts (1).
(c) Tighten the bolts (1).
(2) Install the engine fire-extinguishing pipe (4) between RIB1 and RIB4 on its connection. To do this:
(a) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the disconnected pipe end.
(b) Make sure that the pipe is clean and in the correct condition.
(c) Put and hold the engine fire-extinguishing pipe (4) in the correct position.
(d) Make sure that the clamps (7) are in position.
(e) Install the washers (5) and the bolts (6).
(f) Tighten the bolts (6).
(g) Connect the engine fire-extinguishing pipe (4) to the applicable location.
(h) Tighten the nut (3).
(3) Install the pylon bleed-duct assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-49-400-830).
Subtask 54-51-00-410-134-A (1) Install the bracket (8) on the pylon box. To do this:
(a) Put and hold the bracket (8) in position on the pylon box.
(b) Install the washers (2) and the bolts (1).
(c) Tighten the bolts (1).
(2) Install the engine fire-extinguishing pipe (4) between RIB1 and RIB4 on its connection. To do this:
(a) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the disconnected pipe end.
(b) Make sure that the pipe is clean and in the correct condition.
(c) Put and hold the engine fire-extinguishing pipe (4) in the correct position.
(d) Make sure that the clamps (7) are in position.
(e) Install the washers (5) and the bolts (6).
(f) Tighten the bolts (6).
(g) Connect the engine fire-extinguishing pipe (4) to the applicable location.
(h) Tighten the nut (3).
(3) Install the pylon bleed-duct assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-49-400-830).
C. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):
