Subtask 54-51-00-941-123-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start engine 1(2).
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
   (4) Make sure that the flaps and slats are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (5) Install the flap/slat control-lever locking tool (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).

C. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, in zone 470
     (b) For the right pylon, in zone 480.
   (2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):
     (a) For the left pylon: 471AL 471BL 471CL 472AR 472BR
     (b) For the right pylon: 481AL 481BL 482AR 482BR 482CR.

C. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, in zone 470
     (b) For the right pylon, in zone 480.
   (2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):
     (a) For the left pylon: 471BL 471CL 471DL 471BR 471CR
     (b) For the right pylon: 481BL 481CL 481BR 481CR 481DR.

D. Cleaning of the Structure
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
   (2) If it is not sufficiently clean, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
4. Procedure
Subtask 54-51-00-220-107-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a detailed inspection of the upper spar of the pylon, between RIB4 and RIB10. This inspection is applicable to the area of the fasteners at the junction with the lateral panel, on the left and right sides.
   (2) Use a FLASHLIGHT and a MIRROR - INSPECTION for the inspection, if necessary.
   (3) Make sure that there is no:
     (a) Corrosion damage:
  • If you find corrosion, refer to Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512200) for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
  • If you find this type of damage, refer to Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 511100) for damage types, classification and corrective action.
5. Close-up
Subtask 54-51-00-410-139-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Install the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-400-002):
     (a) For the left pylon: 471AL 471BL 471CL 472AR 472BR
     (b) For the right pylon: 481AL 481BL 482AR 482BR 482CR.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
Subtask 54-51-00-410-139-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Install the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-400-002):
     (a) For the left pylon: 471BL 471CL 471DL 471BR 471CR
     (b) For the right pylon: 481BL 481CL 481BR 481CR 481DR.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
