Subtask 54-51-00-941-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position:
     (a) At zone 470 for the left pylon
     (b) At zone 480 for the right pylon.
   (2) Remove the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-001):
     (a) For the left pylon: 415AL 415AR 415BL 415BR
     (b) For the right pylon: 425AL 425AR 425BL 425BR.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).

   (1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).

D. Preparation of the Inspection Area
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
   (2) If it is not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) Make sure that there is no Temporary Protection System (TPS) layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (4) Do a visual check of the inspection area for damage or discontinuities.
   (5) Make sure that there is no:
     (a) Corrosion damage:
  • If you find corrosion damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 51220001 for types of corrosion, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
  • If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 51110001 for damage classification and corrective action.
4. Procedure
Subtask 54-51-00-250-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a special detailed inspection of the upper surface of the pylon lower spar between RIB1 and RIB2, RIB3 and RIB4, and RIB8 and RIB10. Refer to the Non-destructive Testing Manual NTM 545104.
   (2) Make a report of damage after NDT inspection:
     (a) Corrosion damage:
  • If you find corrosion damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 51220000 for types of corrosion, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
  • If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 51110000 for damage classification and corrective action.

   (1) Make the thrust reverser serviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-081-041).

   (1) Install the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-400-001):
     (a) For the left pylon: 415AL 415AR 415BL 415BR
     (b) For the right pylon: 425AL 425AR 425BL 425BR.
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
