A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Do the special precautions before you start the work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-001).

4. ProcedureWARNING:
DO NOT OPEN THE PASSENGER/CREW DOOR IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 65 KNOTS.
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT:
- THE EMERGENCY CONTROL HANDLE IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
- THE PERCUSSION LEVER OF THE DOOR-DAMPER AND EMERGENCY-OPERATION CYLINDER IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
WARNING:
STOP THE OPENING PROCEDURE IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES. IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES, REMAINING PRESSURE CAN CAUSE THE DOOR TO OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAN:
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position in front of passenger/crew door 831, 841, 832 or 842. - KILL OR CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONS
- CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

A. Discharging of the Door Damper and Emergency Operation Cylinder
(2) Put the 98F52107520001 WRENCH-ACTUATOR,EMERGENCY DOOR in position on the nut (3).
(3) Slowly loosen the nut (3) to release the pressure.
(4) Tighten the nut (3) when the pressure gage shows the necessary pressure.
(5) Remove the 98F52107520001 WRENCH-ACTUATOR,EMERGENCY DOOR from the nut (3).
Subtask 52-10-00-614-050-C WARNING:
DO NOT LET COMPRESSED GAS TOUCH YOUR SKIN. THE GAS CAN GO THROUGH THE SKIN AND MAKE BUBBLES IN THE BLOOD. THIS CONDITION CAN KILL YOU.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TOOLS AND SPARE PARTS ARE CLEAN AND IN THE CORRECT CONDITION. CLEAN OR REPLACE THEM IF NECESSARY. IF THE TOOLS AND SPARE PARTS ARE DIRTY, CONTAMINATION CAN GO INTO THE FILLING VALVE AND NITROGEN CYLINDER AND CAUSE A NITROGEN LEAK.
(1) Remove the blanking plug (1) from the pressure filling valve (2). (2) Put the 98F52107520001 WRENCH-ACTUATOR,EMERGENCY DOOR in position on the nut (3).
(3) Slowly loosen the nut (3) to release the pressure.
(4) Tighten the nut (3) when the pressure gage shows the necessary pressure.
(5) Remove the 98F52107520001 WRENCH-ACTUATOR,EMERGENCY DOOR from the nut (3).
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE BLANKING PLUG IS INSTALLED ON THE FILLING VALVE OF THE DOOR-DAMPER ACTUATOR CYLINDER. IF THERE IS NO BLANKING PLUG, CONTAMINATION CAN GO INTO THE FILLING VALVE AND NITROGEN CYLINDER AND CAUSE A NITROGEN LEAK.
(6) Install the blanking plug (1) on the pressure filling valve (2). B. Charging of the Door Damper and Emergency Operation Cylinder
(2) Connect the FILLING EQUIPMENT - NITROGEN, PRESSURE REGULATED GAGE to the pressure filling valve (2) as follows:
(a) Install the ADAPTER DIA 0.30-32 UNF - EXTENSION on the pressure filling valve (2).
(b) Connect the FILLING EQUIPMENT - NITROGEN, PRESSURE REGULATED GAGE to the ADAPTER DIA 0.30-32 UNF - EXTENSION.
(3) Loosen the nut (3) of the pressure filling valve (2) with the 98F52107520001 WRENCH-ACTUATOR,EMERGENCY DOOR.
(4) Slowly open the filling system valve.
(b) Do a check for approximately two minutes to see if the pressure decreases.
(c) If there is a leak:
(f) If there is a leak:
(7) If the pressure is too high, loosen the nut (3) to get a leak until you get the correct pressure.
(8) Remove the 98F52107520001 WRENCH-ACTUATOR,EMERGENCY DOOR from the nut (3).
(9) Remove the ADAPTER DIA 0.30-32 UNF - EXTENSION of the nitrogen filling system from the pressure filling valve (2).
(10) TORQUE the nut (3) to between 1 and 0.9 m.daN (88.50 and 79.65 lbf.in )
.
(11) Make sure that the sealing is correct at the nut end of the pressure filling valve (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-790-001).
5. Close-upCAUTION:
DO NOT APPLY MORE THAN THE SPECIFIED TORQUE TO THE NUT OF THE FILLING VALVE.
OVERTORQUE WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE VALVE, AND WILL THUS CAUSE LEAKAGE OF NITROGEN FROM THE CYLINDER.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TOOLS AND SPARE PARTS ARE CLEAN AND IN THE CORRECT CONDITION. CLEAN OR REPLACE THEM IF NECESSARY. IF THE TOOLS AND SPARE PARTS ARE DIRTY, CONTAMINATION CAN GO INTO THE FILLING VALVE AND NITROGEN CYLINDER AND CAUSE A NITROGEN LEAK.
CAUTION:
USE ONLY NITROGEN TO INFLATE THE DOOR-DAMPER ACTUATOR CYLINDER. IF YOU USE A DIFFERENT GAS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(1) Remove the blanking plug (1) from the pressure filling valve (2). (2) Connect the FILLING EQUIPMENT - NITROGEN, PRESSURE REGULATED GAGE to the pressure filling valve (2) as follows:
(a) Install the ADAPTER DIA 0.30-32 UNF - EXTENSION on the pressure filling valve (2).
(b) Connect the FILLING EQUIPMENT - NITROGEN, PRESSURE REGULATED GAGE to the ADAPTER DIA 0.30-32 UNF - EXTENSION.
(3) Loosen the nut (3) of the pressure filling valve (2) with the 98F52107520001 WRENCH-ACTUATOR,EMERGENCY DOOR.
(4) Slowly open the filling system valve.
WARNING:
WHEN YOU FILL THE ACTUATOR, MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT APPLY TOO MUCH PRESSURE. AN OVERPRESSURE CAN CAUSE AN EXPLOSION, WHICH CAN CAUSE DEATH OR INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(5) Fill the nitrogen tank as follows: NOTE: On the pressure gauge, each dial graduation is equal to 3.5 bar (50.76 psi).
(a) Slowly fill the nitrogen tank (for more than 10 seconds) to 69 bar (1000.76 psi) maximum. (b) Do a check for approximately two minutes to see if the pressure decreases.
(c) If there is a leak:
- Stop the filling procedure
- Release the pressure, and
- Remove the door damper and emergency operation cylinder
(Ref. AMM TASK 52-11-14-000-001).
- 120 bar (1740.4524 psi) at 20 deg.C (68 deg.F) for Part Numbers (P/N) FE240-002, FE240-003, FE240-004 and FE240-006
- 123 bar (1783.9637 psi) at 20 deg.C (68 deg.F) for P/Ns FE240-005 and FE240-007.
(f) If there is a leak:
- Stop the filling procedure
- Release the pressure, and
- Remove the door damper and emergency operation cylinder
(Ref. AMM TASK 52-11-14-000-001).
(7) If the pressure is too high, loosen the nut (3) to get a leak until you get the correct pressure.
(8) Remove the 98F52107520001 WRENCH-ACTUATOR,EMERGENCY DOOR from the nut (3).
(9) Remove the ADAPTER DIA 0.30-32 UNF - EXTENSION of the nitrogen filling system from the pressure filling valve (2).
(10) TORQUE the nut (3) to between 1 and 0.9 m.daN (88.50 and 79.65 lbf.in )
. (11) Make sure that the sealing is correct at the nut end of the pressure filling valve (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-790-001).
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE BLANKING PLUG IS INSTALLED ON THE FILLING VALVE OF THE DOOR-DAMPER ACTUATOR CYLINDER. IF THERE IS NO BLANKING PLUG, CONTAMINATION CAN GO INTO THE FILLING VALVE AND NITROGEN CYLINDER AND CAUSE A NITROGEN LEAK.
(12) Install the blanking plug (1) on the pressure filling valve (2).Subtask 52-10-00-410-084-A
A. Close Access
(1) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(2) Close passenger/crew door 831, 841, 832 or 842 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
Subtask 52-10-00-865-068-A (1) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(2) Close passenger/crew door 831, 841, 832 or 842 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
