A. Installation of the Air/Oil Separator Adapter
   (1) Calculate the thickness of the shim (8) as follows:
     (a) Measure and record:
  • The distance X, from the face of the gearbox assy to the face of the seal disk.
  • The distance Y, from the top to the flange face of the air/oil separator adapter (1).
  • The distance Z, from the top to the seal land of the air/oil separator adapter (1).
     (b) Use the equation below to calculate the thickness +/- 0.05 mm (0.002 in.):
Thickness = X - Y + Z - 11.43 mm (0.450 in.)

   (2) Lubricate the new AIPC 49-26-09-01-040 PACKING (10), AIPC 49-26-09-01-050 PACKING (9) and the seal (7) with Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) .
   (3) Install the new packings (10) and (9) on the air/oil separator adapter (1).
   (4) Install the seal (7) and the shim (8) on the engine assy.
   (5) Put in position the air/oil separator adapter (1) on the engine assy.
   (6) Install the washers (3) and the bolts (2).
   (7) TORQUE the bolts (2) to between 55 and 45 lbf.in (0.62 and 0.51 m.daN ) T.
   (8) Install the packings (6) in the gearbox vent tube (5). If necessary, install new
AIPC 49-21-09-01-030 PACKING (6).
   (9) Connect the gearbox vent tube (5) to the air/oil separator adapter (1) with the retainer bolt (4).
   (10) TORQUE the retainer bolt (4) to between 52.5 and 47.5 lbf.in (0.59 and 0.54 m.daN )
T.
   (11) Make sure that the retainer of the gearbox vent tube (5) is flush with the surface of the air/oil separator adapter (1).
